You have to wonder how Seto managed to endear them, because he makes it his second career to have other people hate him.

Igi tbh. Joey/Jonouchi when you get past the jokes and grins and goofiness isn't that likeable. He's rude and arrogant for absolutely no merit (unlike Seto who backs up his attitude with results & prowess), he can be very inconsiderate even toward loved ones, he has a hair-trigger temper (like his dad I guess), he's not just dim and broke but also uninterested in doing anything about it (at least Tea & Duke have jobs...), and lest we forget he used to be a fearsome bully and a violent gang-member (in the manga iirc he beat grown men up so badly he sent them to hospital) and brutally that's really the only thing he's good at besides card games. He learns to be a good friend...on a basic level, eventually, and that's the best we can say about him. What's more, he is so one-track minded and has such low self-esteem that he lets himself get coerced and led around romantically by a grown woman who is clearly using him as a toy. For some reason I liked his character as a kid/teen, but looking back I think he's kind of a jackass and a loser--Seto isn't just being mean when he dunks on Joey publicly, he has Joey's number. Tristan & Duke are actually characters I'd rather follow or know irl.

Seto leaves him alone in the canon sub & dub, as well. Arguably it's because Tristan/Honda is a forgettable lowkey guy who doesn't duel and isn't flashy or loud, so Seto forgets he's even present, but I personally headcanon that it's because Tristan is tough & no-nonsense in a way that makes Seto intimidated. and because Tristan doesn't care about Seto's gaming prowess or wealth/power or intelligence so he can't be pressured or gaslit like most of the other characters. So Seto just doesn't take the risk of messing with him, especially since there'd be little payoff for Seto except the negatives of Joey trying to punch him or Duke/Otogi making business more difficult.

Something that yami bakura did to influence a part of the millenium puzzle so a part of his soul can life on even without the millenium ring, it's kind of confusing

Remember right at the start of battle city when Yugi gave the puzzle away like a dumbass and it got smashed? Yami Bakura got his hands on one of the pieces and slipped a bit of his soul in it.
