Great travel video of the Yucatan peninsula. Punta Allen seems like a gem, definitely a place I want to visit next time I go to Mexico. Hope you go back to Mexico at some point as there is so much more to explore! xx PS: Just read your blog on Isal Holbox. Thanks for being honest. I feel that slow travel as well as being respectful of the environment/nature when you travel is so important, which goes both ways of course for visitors and the local government. Eco-tourism is the only way forward as far as I am concerned.

Hi Cindy! Thanks so much for your kind words! We could not agree more. Eco-tourism is the only way forward. We definitely feel the responsibility as travelers to be truthful and honest about each place we visit. We can't wait to go back and explore other parts of Mexico! Our next trip will be to central Mexico 😍 (we don't know when though). And about Punta Allen... that place was one of our favorites! We made a separate video about it and wrote a blog post too because there are some things to know before visiting. When you are planning your trip, feel free to reach out if you any doubts or questions! We are always happy to help! :)

I just found your channel & I'm in love! I've been binge watching ALL day!! They are so well done. We are about to take off on a 3 year slow travel with our family AND we are starting in the Yucatan! I have a practical question -- Did you have all reservation made prior to departure? We are trying to book AirBNBs a month at a time to get their discount. We have to book ahead so they have availability, but then that limits our flexibility. :( Looking forward to learning all your travel hacking secrets in your upcoming course!

Oh this is so exciting guys!!! The Yucatan is a great place to start. We really had so much fun there. That part of Mexico just feels like a vacation hahaha. And yes, we usually make reservations in advance, but not too much in advance because of what you said, flexibility... it's a work in progress to find that balance honestly. At the beginning we always had a month in advance booked, but now we only book a week in advance. Are you guys planning to always stay for one month in each place? Oh and also, sometimes we do find a place that looks awesome and it's cheap, so we book it no matter if it's "too in advance". We've learned that sometimes having a nice place that feels like a home makes a huge difference (mentally). Feel free to ask us anything else! We are super excited for you. Your lives are about to change 💕

@@waysoftheworld_ Our initial strategy is to stay a month in each place -- primarily to make our budget work. I think we would prefer to move a little faster at times, then slow down at others. Our budget seems very similar to yours. We enjoying cooking at home, public transit is part of the adventure, etc

I really enjoyed your video. It was great and very informative. My hubby and I went to Holbox in 2019 we had planned to stay a week, but we only lasted 3 days. All the reasons you listed were the same reasons we hated it. I couldn’t wait to get off that island. It was sad and disappointing. We ended up finishing our week on Isla Mujeres.

Hi Jen! Thanks so much! So glad to hear you liked it. If you have any questions, please let us know! :) So sad to hear about Holbox and your experience... We did not like there at all! What did you think about Isla Mujeres though? We debated between going there and Holbox and obviously made the wrong decision LOL but curious to see what Isla Mujeres has to offer ;)

@@waysoftheworld_ we like Isla Mujeres we’ve been there around 24 times. So, yes we love it. It’s gotten very touristy but we usually go during down season. The water is the most beautiful water we’ve ever seen. Cheaper than Holbox and better service.

That's a tough question without more details. What's exactly your budget? What do you like to do? For us, we would pick Cozumel because we love the water activities and the food is delicious if you know where to go ;) Valladolid could also be an option if you don't mind not being by the water. It's quiet and the food is great too, plus there are a ton of fun and interesting day trips to do from Valladolid! It will all depend on what you like do with your days. All the places we visited offer different things, but they were all great in their own right :) - maybe if you check out our blog www.waysoftheworldblog.com/destinations it can give you a better idea. We have a ton of Mexico content with more details than what we share in our videos.

@@waysoftheworld_ Campeche is on the Ocean too for seafood and snorkeling, yes? would it offer better accommodation and food rates than Cozumel? About 30 yrs ago I spent a few weeks Kayaking the Cayes out from Placencia, that was amazing due to the reefs and coral. I know I would love Cozumel best but it will be more expensive than Campeche or Merida, I think? Steve
