It's always kinda strange to not know a person yet still feel deeply saddened when you find out that they will no longer be present on this world.. Kazuki Takahashi.. a legend who's created something that's given life to many people throughout their childhoods and hell.. even in their adulthoods as well.. It was because of him that we've created many bonds with people over something that we've come to love throughout both the good and bad times. His work will continue to create and give life to childhoods for decades to come.. Thank you.. Kazuki Takahashi.
I remember as a kid barely 3 years old watching YuGiOh, and seeing all the big kids at the time playing with YuGiOh cards... and some time later I was the big kid with YuGiOh, and then all of the anime... haaa... this just cements how far we've come thanks to Kazuki's creativity and ingenuity RIP fam RIP
I bet if Kazuki Takahashi has never made a manga or something out of life.... He would have been forgotten like everyone else. Yep, normies are entitled bastards
Edvin Sandström Dont know why you guys are on the guy's throat like he offended you. I could think of a couple misleading opening on top of my head already like Berserk opening and Death Note opening 2, and I dont even watch that many anime.
Just heard the News, Rest in Peace, Kazuki Takahashi, the creator of Yu-Gi-Oh. I am still fairly new to this franchise but Yu-Gi-Oh and its characters have truly held a huge part in many people's hearts, including mine. You have helped build many friendships between fans around the world through the series. We can never be grateful enough for that. Lets Duel someday in the Afterlife , Sir
@@prestongiles9917 nope it had to do with the fact the fans grabed on the the card game and reacted very very well to it. It was a couple of years before the card game came along.
Pretty much a combination of the two. People wanted to play the game, so the manga shifted to it in preparation to make it an actual game and it only took those few years because making an entire functional cardgame with a good publisher takes time. I actually really wonder what the bizarrouniverse in which that shift never happened looks like. The series possibly might have become really iconic in circles of hardcore animefans instead of being the childhood of people.
@@lpfan4491The difference between Season 0&DM is like the difference between DragonBall and DBZ. DB is considered a classic 80's anime but Z is a merchandise Goliath. Z took on some aspects of Dragonball (Ki attacks, Power levels, High Stakes) and dialed it up to 11 while completely foregoing the grounded martial arts, adventure&comedy aspects of DragonBall.
No it's a LittleKuriboh joke. In a flashback in LK's abridged series, Kaiba is seen breaking the rules in duel monsters and Yugi's like "Isn't that against the rules" and Kaiba's like "Screw the rules I have green hair!"
Do you even Yu-Gi-Oh? Tea/Anzu never had female friends in either the anime or the manga. Miho was just a one-off character in the last chapter of the first volume made into a main-ish character for the sake of adding another female to the group.
@@Drums_of_Liberation not to mention she got pretty annoying after a while. The whole "Honda will do anything for her" trope sorta got old after a couple episodes
This song sounds very feel-good and nostalgic, like when you’re thinking about all the dumb fun stuff you did with friends. It felt like listening to this was the appropriate thing to do after hearing what happened. Rest In Peace, Kazuki Takahashi.
I'm just now starting to watch Yugi-oh after 18 years, so can someone answer me this: what is this season zero? Where does it lie in the timeline of the series? Do I have to watch this before I watch the rest? Thanks!
Season 0 is not set in any timeline, its the original series that was cancelled. I like to think the events of some of the things are canon in my own mind though because its just hilarious to think that Yugi solved the puzzle box and then before he encountered Kaiba and the others he saved everyone in a dinner from being shot by setting a man with a gun on fire. Then they decided to play card games. XD
Came here to say, rest in peace Kazuki Takahashi. Yu-Gi-Oh has touched the lives of millions across the world, and its impact will be known for years and years to come. We are all grateful for what he's brought to us, and we will cherish it. Thank you, Takahashi. Fly at higher game!
@cam pig And hell, that was very light compared to the manga. in the manga, they played with knives and explosives and people got actually injured and the pharaoh was an even bigger jerk.
I love how this opening really showed how yugi and yami were 2 different characters despite the same body. That part with his shadow stretching into yami really hinted at how dark he is in this series
Is funny how in the manga of duel monsters this season is cannon so atem goes from a serial killer to save the word with the power of friendship and friends
So was the fact the beginning of the manga (Season 0) focused on playing various games until they just sticked with playing card game instead later on (DM) lol.
If they still followed the Season 0 format, just imagine how different Yu-Gi-Oh DM would have been. Instead of where every problem is solved by playing a card game that everyone somehow know how to play. Though I did like in DM how Yugi wasn't beaten up every 1-3 episodes.
This was unironically the first season of YU-GI-OH I watched, then the anime, then after a while I read the manga. Thank you Kazuki Takahashi for making a foundation of my childhood!
Same though I did saw the movie first and later played joey the passion on my pc before watching the show Good memories Still remember the blood machine
Yu-Gi-Oh GX is actually directly connected to the first one, taking place 10 years after the original Kaiba runs the duelist academy that the students enroll in and Yugi literally appears in episode 1, giving Judai (Jaden in the west) his Kuriboh card. There is also an episode where Judai goes back in time to fight Yugi when he was still a teen.
What does that have to do with yugioh season 0 whatsoever? Also anybody with a brain would be able to comprehend they are connected by watching the first episode of gx
It isn't a season, it's an entirely different anime produced by Toei Animations based off of the manga. The first few issues never focused on duel monsters, so that's why there are so many differences. When the fandom found this, they thought it was a lost season of Yu-Gi-Oh, and ever since called it by that.
According to the original manga writer, switching to card game only focus helped with coming up with a better story structure as he doesn't have to waste time making up random new games every week. Have to admit it, that was a good decision since Yu-Gi-Oh! became mainly popular due to the card game.
The reason why they changed direction of the plot to focus on card games only was because the fans loved the concept of Duel Monsters so much they decided to make it the main focus instead Honestly I'm glad they did because the card games badass asf
It's probably because you know yu-gi-oh season 0 will never be completed. The 27 episodes were amazing, too bad that's all there ever will be. If they did then the final battle against Atem and Yugi most likely would have been a Yami no Game. Now I'm so curious...
The orginal cards were part of a launch event for the manga and were a huge hit. They also sold a line of the capluses from Mokuba's table top game as well. Various side games ( the virtual world game, dungeon dice, master of cards ) made it to the anime thanks to it's sucess but were orginally scrapped from the manga due to the lack of time kazuki had. He mentions himself during many of his interviews that he intended to have kaiba as the ultimate bad having him coming up with many different games and challenging yugi to over come each one of them.
AxelFireDancer I doubt that. The card game wasn't even introduced in the manga until chapter 9. It might be true overseas, but not likely in Japan. Konami's card game wasn't even the first time somebody has made licensed cards from Yuugi-Ou. The Japan-only Bandai version is well-known, and there were several different printings of promotional cards not part of either the Konami card game or the Bandai card game.

I just finished Season 0 today. Farewell, Yuugi's most adorable voice. Farewell, Atem's Games of Darkness. Farewell, Miho - though I won't miss you much.
Well, I saw the 0 season when I was very, very young, and, although I really liked the series, I kinda... Yami Yugi first give some fear, for some reason. Like when he transformed that guy in a clock.
@@tenientemantequilla4307 I think it's very intentional. Yami Yuugi starts off as a cruel and ruthless character on purpose so that we can see him change throughout, most notably when he gives Kaiba a chance at recovery.
Every time they tried to branch back into other games, it failed. Dungeon Dice Monsters Capsule monsters were poorly received so they stuck to the card game. They could've done it with the filler arcs, especially since most of the cards featured in those arcs weren't initially planned for release until Konami decided to farm nostalgia, but I guess they were afraid it would impact pack sales.
The Duel monsters direction was a much better move tho Because the fans loved the concept of Duel Monsters so much they decided to make that the main focus instead And honestly I'm glad they did because the card games badass asf
@@pingaspearce9403 Until 5Ds and beyond ruined the card game with all the Synchro, XYZ, Pendulum, and Link crap and made the game so damn overly complicated you need a degree just to play it.
No, screw the rules I have black hair lined with red that sticks up all over the place. I also have blonde bangs. And by the way, all the coloring is natural.
Saddened to find out that the creator of this legendary anime has passed. He will live on as we continue to remember him, watch the series, and play the games. This video was uploaded when I was still in high school, time flies and we often waste it.
Rest in peace, Kazuki Takahashi, legendary writer and hero to duelists everywhere. You have impacted the lives of so many, created worlds and fantasies, taught many about sportsmanship and developed a very culture that brought so many people together. You will be sorely missed.
The early chapters were _brutal._ I don't know what they added or changed in the anime that well, but the first shadow game wasn't a weird rooftop card game, but one were they put money on their hand and stabbed through it to keep it. So they had to be careful not to stab their own hand. The guy Yami was playing against _literally tried to stab him._ He was driven insane, believing garbage was money. And that's not even talking about the time Yami legit killed someone. Set the guy on fire. There also was a weird air-hockey but with ice and a hot plate game with explosive chemicals, and the one time were he permanently ruined the vision of a TV producer.
Eloize Aubin oh yeah, I’m not even sure that yami yugi was supposed to be a good guy at first lmao. I understand that he is from 3000 years and his morals would be different, but still, dude seems like an a straight up psychopath.
I believe one of the biggest changes on season 0 was the fact Miho was one of the main characters in this season, when she's just a random fodder in the manga. And because of that, Miho replaced a lot of Jonouchi and Honda's roles and do more stuffs in the anime than she ever did on the manga.
So here we are, let’s just carry on We’re side by side and arm in arm I stand and count my disappearing dreams But through the doubt my friends are what I see On the path that you do seem to know Lately you’ve not known where to go In the dark shadows there seems to be Growing another me I let it out, his crazy shout Out of my heart, torn out, under my tearful cries Don’t go, I want you to show me the world Through your eyes; (come along with me) The answer our world vainly seeks I see it now, discovered lying inside of me Surpass the rules to reach our aim We must learn to play a higher game
I know that's very close to or exactly the translation, but these words could be substituted and still match the melody, which is rare for a translation.
The reason Yu-Gi-Oh was changed to car games was because the fans loved the concept of Duel Monsters so much they decided to make that the main focus instead Honestly I'm glad they did because the card games badass asf
I used to listen to this every day whem I was getting ready for school. I had the words memorized. And I will never forget YuGiOh and how it helped me feel like I belonged.
It's not even "as" faithful to the original manga as some people like to pretend it is... but go off I suppose. I still rather enjoy Season 0 myself, but you know.
The others were mainly about duel monsters and considering Yu-Gi-Oh changed directtion because of the fans loving it so much I'd say it's a welcome change
Her name actually reappeared in Yugioh GX as she was a civilian whom was sent to the dark realm. I forgot who did that. But her name appeared on his list
I don't think that's fully the reason because Duel Monsters deviates from the Manga's story just as much if not more so than Season 0 does. For example Otogi who in the Manga appears like twice and then disappears till the very end of the Manga's story is a main character after his introduction in not only the Anime exclusive storylines but also in Battle City which was in the Manga. Honda also didn't have feelings for Shizuka in the Manga and his rivalry with Otogi doesn't exist in that universe. There's also the addition of Noah to the Kaiba family tree in the Duel Monsters anime and the fact that after Duelist Kingdom Ryou becomes much more of a side character whereas in the Manga he stays a main character throughout most of the novel. Not to mention Yami Bakura's backstory being not applicable to him in Duel Monster's universe because of the last season having a different story from the Manga. I think it more has to do with them just trying to separate Duel Monsters from Season 0 since Duel Monsters was made by a different company and having Miho would only seemingly connect the two when Duel Monsters was created to have no continuity with Season 0.
It's very sad that this happened. I used to watch a lot of of it when I was younger, while still confused, I was always impressed by how amazing the cards are, Takahashi-san created something that made and still will make the lifes of various. I don't collect cards, but I have one of them inside of my phone case, it will now have more value than ever. May you rest in piece, Takahashi sensei.
this season was the best. it was original, funny and more. the Versions of the characters in this series, much better from the next seasons. and i like miho. she is cute. i wish she was in the DM series.
@Matthew Welch She was a character for one chapter actually. I remember that Honda had a crush on her but in the end she just refused his confession. After that we didn't saw her again.
