Yasuhiro Takemoto had part in creating this beautiful anime and unfortunately was confirmed dead today in the fire that happened at Kyoto Animation. I leave my prayers through this comment and my love to all the animes that they made. Ty Kyoto Animation
That is terrible... I picked up this anime recently and my heart really sank when I saw Kyoto Animation in its credits. I can only send my best wishes out to those that were hurt by this whole shitshow, however ineffectual that may be.
@@ced12160 But this scene is the best of the best, the snow falling, the instrumental song that starts playing, his discourse first half, him giving her his coat after cleaning the snow that was in her head, his discourse second half, and the last but not the least, her saying "Thank You", for me, this was Epic!
Also the way she jumps slightly at Kyon seemingly calling her by first name (meant to show wanting to be closer in Japanese culture) only to realize that he meant the snow.
And this is exactly why disappearance of Nagato should've been about the canon universe's Nagato going missing, kyon telling Haruhi all about her powers and them getting Nagato back.
ginger psycho i think Itsuki actually makes a better pair with Haruhi then he does with Kyon or Kyon does with Haruhi. They have an interesting chemistry to them.
Ulquiorra Cifer that's because they were never given any development like this. They would've if disappearance of Nagato wasn't pure slice of life and actually involved Nagato disappearing and kyon telling Haruhi all about her being God like it should have been.
Corvobestgril Well, Disappearance of Nagato was never meant to take place in the primary world. The "Disappearance" world is a world where Haruhi was never God, so I'm not sure how "Kyon telling Haruhi she's God" would work. If anything, Kyon told Disappearance!Haruhi about all the supernatural stuff, and while it did hype her up, I wouldn't go as far as to say it was a developing moment. And when Kyon told the regular Haruhi about all the supernatural stuff, she flat out didn't believe him. Even in the light novels that take place after the movie, Kyon and Haruhi, despite obviously caring about each other, never really had the sort of development Kyon and Yuki had. At least that's my take on it.
Don't care what anyone says, Yuki and Kyon make a much better couple than Haruhi and Kyon.... When the piano started playing all aboard the feels train!
The year doesn't matter at all when it comes to 2D animation, Snow White is still better animated than almost everything that is made today. 3D animation has surely gotten better, 2D is reliant mainly on time and effort.
Shashank7170 Uhh is it really? Sure it was the first 2d feature length film but in terms of animation, it’s mostly rotoscoped and feels really floaty...
Glad I finally found this vid, this scene and the scene immediately preceding are probably my favorites in the whole film. For those asking about the music, it's Erik Satie's Gymnopédie No.1. The film actually uses all of the Gymnopédies at one point or another if I remember right, as well as a few other Satie works.
It still breaks my heart how she looks up with that questioning look when he says "Yuki", thinking he called her by first name, but then realising that he's just talking about the fucking weather. Stop teasing the poor alien Kyon!
Ami rose I agree. Yuki is taken for granted so much she deserves someone that appreciates her regardless of her being human or not. Kyon definitely is the only person that understands her fully.
It's been over three years since I watched this movie for the first time, and I've seen this scene so many times now I can't count, I still can't watch it without being in tears at the end. Nagato Yuki, daisuki!
"Pass this message to your boss, if you ever disappear or go away, know this. I'll let hell break loose" Just one of the reason Kyon is one of my favorite character
When I first watched this scene... I feel like I had lived specifically just so I could experience it. This movie was everything I could have ever wanted. Season 2, whilst it fleshed out the series, wasn't what I wanted. This is movie was exactly what I wanted season 2 to be, and I had more or less given up on the show after season 2. It took me a while before I was up to actually watching it, but when I did, I was so moved by it.
Surely, I'm not the only one who was... let down, by this scene? "Kyon's choice" had me in tears, the way he walks away from Nagato while fondly describing Haruhi, and this scene feels like an insincere apology. Kyon doesn't feel like he's changed. He tried to assure Nagato he'll care if she goes missing, but in doing so he just starts fantasizing of some adventure with Haruhi and the rest of the SOS brigade, (sans Nagato). The plot of this movie starts because Nagato is unhappy? "Malfuctioning", if you will? But the ending seems to put everything back into place without change, and an "all's well that ends well." Nagato doesn't seem more important, as she should. That's how I felt about this, anyway. Nagato best.
I have a theory that Nagato is a personality of Haruhi like Asahina and koizumi. To me she represents the sadness that Haruhi doesn't express and we can notice that most of the times Haruhi is always cheerful and smiling but I remember a flashback where she was a little girl left alone and looking right at the camera with empty eyes, she had the same expression that Nagato has all the time . I wouldn't be surprised if they said that her parents abandoned her or died at that time because other than that scene we don't ever see her this way again.
And everything revolves around Haruhi for some reason that i can't explain it feels like that's the reason why she is in the center because if we look closely into the series we see that sometimes she acts like Nagato, Koizumi but not the other way around. It really appeared to me in the disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya when her character was mysterious and calm the only one she was around at that time was Koizumi who is oddly the one we see since the beginning as someone calm and mostly mysterious
I don't know why people surprised why Kyon choose hlHaruhi. From the beginning of the series he said he dislike his mundane days trapped in same routine. Yes he did complained a lot, but he actually enjoying all the stuff that out of his hands more than he wanted to admit. Also, even when I was a kid, I always thought Kyon meant to get all the girls rather than just one. So I don't have any problem with the shipping of kyon with any girls in the series.
Her name: Yuki 'Snow' literally, but the kanji she uses to write her name on her shoes means 'Hope'. 'Nagato' is both the name of one of the provinces of Japan, it's also the name of a great battleship. How to render her name in English? 'Hope Iowa' for an American? 'Hope Albion' for an Englishman?
ThatOneChickk she never hated him. She just wanted to see what would happen if she killed him. She doesn’t understand life or death so killing someone isn’t a big deal to her.
Yuki dissapears anyway. Sponge: Haruhi, I am John Smith Haruhi: Hmm? (try to remember..) Sponge: I am John Smith Haruhi: YOU ARE?! BUT HOW???? Absolute Powerless Sponge: Time machine exist.. as well as esper and witch. Haruhi: mmMMMmMmmMM!!!!! No power whatsoever Sponge: We need to catch them. HARUHI POWER UP: LETS GO! The World: It's SHOWTIME. The rest is history.
@@darriusrobertson5373 yeah, thanks, but i found it already hahahaha. Thanks tho for answering, this song is really up there with chopin's nocturne op.9 no.2
It doesn't happen. If you read the novels you will find out that Kyon and Haruhi start dating in college. There is a really good fanfic about Kyon and Yuki getting together which would make for a good spin off series, but sadly it will never happen.
I really wasn’t keen on the show, and overall the movie was probably only at 8 out of 10 but goddamn this has to be one of the best scenes of anime I have ever seen period and trust me I’ve seen it all 😭
No recordaba que en esta escena había música clásica aunque en estos puntos de la vida ya no recuerdo como se llamaba ha a pasado el tiempo y había perdido todo aquello que me hacía feliz, incluso mis metas
in the original timeline i prefer mikuru or nagato since haruhi is just unappealing and annoying. In the Nagato timeline i prefer haruhi. Son of a bitch...
I don't get the people who look at this scene and think that kyon and yuki should be a couple. Yuki doesn't have the emotional maturity to date someone who's 17, and Kyon doesn't seem like the type of guy who'd date a 3 year old. His treatment of Yuki in this scene feels brotherly in a way that's so goddamn wholesome and y'all wanna ruin that by making Kyon a groomer. Why.
I get if you don't ship it, but Yuki is literally an communications interface made by a hyper advanced alien society... not to mention she's never once been treated like a child in universe- she's treated as a peer. A relationship with her would probably be more analogous to a person dating Siri, if Siri could hold a real conversation. Yuki's emotional "immaturity" is entirely due to the fact that she was designed to be unable to feel emotions or express herself, and this movie was about how that finally broke her. To call Kyon a groomer if he hypothetically dates Yuki would be like calling Taniguchi a pedo for having a crush on Asakura and dating Kuyoh. Also, wasn't Yuki the only member of the SOS Brigade to remember 800 years worth of summer break? If anything, she's emotionally older than Kyon.
