No idea what it is about this song, but to me, it represents nostalgia in it's purist form. A lot of 2kki's music is like this to me, but this one stands higher than the rest. There's just something about the general bitcrushiness of it that activates something in me.
an oddly specific comparison but i can't help but feel this has the same atmosphere as the startup menu for a console like the ps2 or gamecube i really love this
Rusty beat with aquatic, dancing melody is such a beautiful combination. Feels like I'm stuck in my good old Sony Ericsson's screen with a compressed gif of a beach at dawn, the waves approach the coast but never reach it in a seemless loop.
I have zero actual connection with Yume 2kki, but this specific reversed extension is significant to me. It symbolises that twilight period of the late 2010s before a lot of things started to change for me. I would listen to this music and it would transport me to a time when I could have easily spent countless hours becoming invested in an experience such as Yume 2kki. I could always play the game now, but now the version of life it calls me to has irreversibly passed. All I can do now is imagine what the experience could have been like. And so, I listen again.
I feel this comment so much, this music just has that 2010 vibe, i can't really explain it. The eras it reminds us of might be different, but i totally get how you feel.
I remembered trying to play this game back in 2014, but the stupid japanese characters error kept foiling me no matter what i tried, I really am glad I got to experience it when the yume nikki online project let you play it without downloading anything, i really am… But i also wish i got to experience it at a more relevant time of my life… but at least i got to do it with some irl & online friends :)

today is Yume 2kkis 17th birthday, this video is what ended up getting me into the game and I could not be more thankful. No other community has ever been this lovely and Ive only been here for a little over two years; just recently my wallpapers were added to 2kki and I even helped develop for another fangame because of how much I grew to love this genre. Big shoutouts to you all man stay awesome
To hear that this video got some people interested in this game is so wonderful to know. Getting into Yume Nikki, Yume 2kki, and the other fangames made a huge impact on me. I felt understood in a way. It's not only something I'd let myself get lost in, it also influenced me artistically quite a bit. These games mean a lot to me, and to be able to share it with others is truly special
This song reminds me, strangely enough, of the wonders of sitting bored in school. Yeah, its boring, but at least you have your own mind to keep you company, to take in ideas and bounce it around, to conjure places and people that are better than the ones you are with.
Crazy nostalgic. I'm thinking about early 2010's late 00's when I was still around 10-14 yrs old and had nothing to worry about except MMO grind with my bro and ranking in league of legends. World wasn't so predictable for me back then and still had some magic behind. Good stuff. Also I think that this track would fit K-pax movie a lot.

reminds me of that one W.I.T.C.H. computer game. it had one background track that's very similar to this, i think it played either when you read your journal or played cards with Will

Yeah, the not-reversed song plays in that exact place. It's a dream where the floor you are walking on is the ceiling, so there are various things like lamps going from the floor dangling upwards
