You didn’t tell us what size the quilt turned out to be! I’d really love to know. It is really a beautiful quilt and I would like to make one but I don’t want to run out of material; I want to be sure to buy enough for my size. Thanks!

Engineer... you had a bit of fun editing this! Di, you are so lucky, to have blue block as a support consultant on this, saves you pulling your own hair out😂. Also the shopping support. These are soooo not my colours or prints, but beauty is right name for this, blown away. Still wouldn't shop those fabrics for me, but do like fall colours, was talking about this with my mum yesterday. Hugs for everyone, Chel 🌸

HI Chel! I agree, I'm very lucky to have Blue Block, I've known her for over 47 years, hint, she's The Engineers cousin😍😜 I'm with you, those colors aren't my choice however, they fit the bill for the client perfectly! I am in love with that block and will work it up again but in brighter colors. Thanks as always for watching 😍🐤

I love the ‘old fashioned’ look of this quilt. The block construction seems simple and as you said, assembling them created a new block that was stunning. Despite having border problems, the choices you came up with (not forgetting blue block), were perfect. I hope we get to see it quilted and bound. I imagine the person who commissioned it will be thrilled. I think this would be a keepsake that anyone would cherish.

@sisterchicksquilting
@sisterchicksquilting 11 месяцев назад
I threatened her, LOL 😂 Seriously, I showed her my scant quarter inch seam (Rita, my Juki, sews with a scant 1/4") Blue Block practiced then made a go for it. Our seam allowances wern't perfect but close enough. The back isn't near as perfect as your backs are. I didn't square up any blocks and only had to make 4 repairs to get the seam allowance back. I felt very lucky as I put it together. Great question and thanks for asking and watching Amy! 😃❤🐥

This was too cool! It's less than a month since I gifted a quilt with the same pattern (only it was called Jewel Box) to a bride and groom. I made mine blue and green scrappy with some peach for a bit of sparkle and a black background, as per the bride's colour preferences. I added a black inner border, then a border alternating between black and scrappy squares the same size as the 4 patch squares. Backed with a blue/green/black stripe flannel and bound with a dark blue strip. It took me much, much longer to make and quilt on my domestic than yours will take. :) It was fun to see your version made with precuts. I'm sure the recipient will love it! It was 26 C/79 F the day of the wedding, but we have over 6" of snow now! I wonder if you have snow yet. Happy quilting! Donna

Did you mention how much yardage to make this quilt, not using layer cakes? Did you trim the half square triangles to 4 or 4 1/2 inches? I watch your video several times and it wasn’t exactly clear. I’m working with some lovely holiday fabric to make several blocks into a table runner. Thanks so much. This is a nice pattern, especially the way you put the blocks together. You you so much fun to watch, I’ve learned so much from you.

Beautiful quilt. So I’m confused, did you use three layer cakes including the background squares?
@sisterchicksquilting
@sisterchicksquilting 11 месяцев назад
I use two colored layer cakes, and then I made two layer cakes from my background fabric. Then maybe the confusing part would be. I didn’t use all of the colors in the layer cakes. I hope that helps and thanks for watching.😊❤️🐥

Hi, is there a detailed pattern for this? Your CV instructions are a little v to v fast for a beginner like me. Thank you.

@sisterchicksquilting 6 месяцев назад
I'm sorry Vicky, there isn't a detailed pattern. Try slowing the video down at least when I'm talking about the pattern. I would just focus on making the main unit then make 4 and put them together. That is the whole quilt. I hope this helps, TFW!!!

I didn’t square it up. The small block finishes about 8 inches and the large block is 16 inches. I hope this helps.

Im not sure how many half square triangles to do and then the 4 patches. Help! I cut all the layer cakes out. 😅
@sisterchicksquilting
@sisterchicksquilting 11 месяцев назад
For each large block, which is four Buckeye Beauty blocks, you will need 8, half square triangles. Then you will also need 8, 4 patches. The large block is 16 1/2 in.². That way you can figure out how many you need for your quilt. Mine had four across and five down. I hope this helps my goodness you’re energetic, Quilton😊❤️🐥

What size did the big block turn out? I need to trim them now
@sisterchicksquilting
@sisterchicksquilting 3 месяца назад
Looking back on my construction, I didn't trim or square up those blocks. Both the first block and the second big blocks. They came out so straight and square, the video says they are 16" square but you can see when I'm sewing them together they aren't squared up. It was, really, an easy block to make and keep square. Good good luck on yours and please don't turn me into the Quilt Police! TFW!

@sisterchicksquilting
@sisterchicksquilting 11 месяцев назад
Don’t hate me, I didn’t have a pattern I just use the block. Hint, I used for 16 1/2 inch square blocks across and five 16 1/2 in.² blocks down. Take a look at my block in the video it’s made with four buckeye beauties, each buckeye beauty has 24 patches and 2/2 square triangles. I used to layer cakes took the light colors out and cut layer cakes from the background to match the layer cakes I used. Then you can measure your borders whatever you would like from there. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching my channel.😊❤️🐥

So do 24 layer cake pieces for the 8 half square triangles for the right amount of squares for them?
