Great tutorial. I hadn't thought of yupo with alcohol inks and using a burning tool. A blending tool is great for applying alcohol inks without using your ink up too quickly. Ranger make one with replaceable felt pads but there are but there are cheaper ones.
Yes, it will fade over time. Sometimes I use a glossy sealant over the ink. Depending on the project, sometimes I don't mind if it ends up fading. It will give me a reason to make another. I did a suncatcher with alcohol inks (I have a video up for it), and it's been in my window for the last 5-6 months and it's still as good as new.
Depends on your project. This is a good regular Yupo: amzn.to/2TQW9rw or if you want something translucent, then this is a good one: amzn.to/3bBxLnV. Happy crafting! :) Diana
That is so awesome! I love the layered look and all the holes. It's a beautiful, abstract effect. I would love to have one in my living room. Do they come in bigger sizes? Do you sell these?
You are welcome to have a look blinxart.com (I'm making them bigger size - and I'm exhibiting all over the world (blankablinxart@gmail.com) I even make them by the special order. xxx
You can wipe the tip off of the plastic, but you should do this in a well ventilated area or wear a mask if there respiratory issues. You are in a sense burning plastic.
When I tried this the smell of the melting yupo paper was awful (burning wax) and the melted paper stuck to the tip of the burning tool. Did you experience this too?
Thank you for the feedback Shawnee. I agree :(. I made that video a couple of years ago, before I really knew what I was doing in filming. I actually no longer use background music.
