Yuri Watanabe Becomes Wraith (FULL STORY) - SPIDER-MAN PS4 This is Yuri Watanabe 's Full Story of becoming Wraith from SPIDER-MAN PS4 Killing Hammerhead and Final Mission "Scales Of Justice" From Silver Lining DLC
I always wondered if it felt weird for Yuri Lowenthal (Peter's VA) to refer to his wife (Tara Platt, VA for Yuri Watanabe) as Yuri. And I wonder if it felt confusing for Tara to be called Yuri, by Yuri.
@@dwaynecox2002 And he definitely can. When Doc Ock became Superior Spider-Man, he discovered that Parker was pulling his punches for as long as he was Spider-Man. That includes villains much bigger than he was like Rhino. But moreso than his physical strength, Peter has one of the strongest wills as a hero.
@@41tinman41 in some ways it reminds me of cap can't wait for spiderman-2 with both of them this time man I'm hype for that and wolverine even the DC game Gotham knights next year
There’s always room for improvement. Always a place you can be better in, be greater. I think that’s the story of Spider-Man. Anyone can be Spider-Man, we all just have to be greater than what we think we can already be. Push yourself for the sake of others but remain humble.
@@41tinman41 honestly, can you imagine how terrified doc ock had to be at that moment, realizing that the man he had been fighting for years, the man he has put through hell, was holding back every single time they fought
So, I'm guessing the reason why Yuri starts being like THIS is because she's like, "I just survived an apocalyptic virus pandemic that nearly destroyed and killed ALL of New York... and yet I *STILL* can't stop the worst gangster I've ever known throughout my entire life?! Well, screw him and all of this bullcrap! It's high time I delivered justice on MY terms... By MY own damn hands!"
You prolly dont give a damn but does someone know of a method to log back into an instagram account?? I was dumb forgot my login password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me
Plain and simple: Those who kill should be prepared to be killed. Of course, does it mean we have to make ourselves a murderer to push him to hell? No. But deserve? Damn right he is.
Murder and execution are two different methods of delivering death. Murder is arbitrary killing and destroys the murderer's empathy; execution is a legal punishment doled out responsibly, allowing the executioners to disperse responsibility for the death. In any case, taking a life willingly puts a toll on a person's morality and empathy. If Watanabe is prepared to become a murderer herself, that's her choice.
I'm calling it now. Either Wraith will be a part of the main story, or a side mission in Spider-Man 2. With all this build up, they have to do something with her character. Funny thing though is that both Spider-Man's VA and Yuri's VA are married irl, so I wonder how funny it would be for them to have their characters fighting against each other.
If I remember my comic lore right. Wraith is a symbiote spawned from venom so I don't expect Wraith but it wouldn't surprise me if they set her up for a future sequel or for wolverine
@@dusathemaid damn if you think about it peter lost his brother figure(martin li) his second father figure(Otto octavious) his mother figure (aunt may) and one of his closest friends all within the same game.i ...I feel bad for peter :(
I like the touches of the Wraith suit in the final crime scene. As well as the characterization; Yuri seems so self-convinced that what she did was not murder itself. The performance is calm and focused and chillingly relieved at what she's done. She honestly thought that Peter would see her side. Her grief over what hammerhead did to her team, did that one cop with the Spidey watch, is so consuming that it's completely changed her character. Convincing a fellow officer to go undercover when she is supposed to be suspended, and dispensing punishment because she feels scales need to be balanced? This isn't justice, this is vengeance. And comparing what she does towards Peter does is a losing argument. Spider-Man May not wear a badge, but he would never resort to murder and has always tried to work within the system. When the cops aren't shooting at him at least. It's hard to imagine how long she's been wrestling with these demons, but what hammerhead did, and her giving in that first time when she shot him in the head, pushed those demons to the forefront. The captain crossed a line and can't see it. Just like Otto did. Another friend turned foe. It will be interesting - and at the same time painful - to see them go at each other in the sequel if she is coming back as the Wraith.
The only thing I disagree with Wraith here, is her utter conviction that she's doing the right thing, as in what she's doing is morally and ultimately justifiable. You know I thought she and Castle would be best friends, but I was wrong. Castle has no illusions about what he's doing, no moral right or dealing "true" justice, he isn't doing it out of revenge (not anymore at least). Why he started doing it is more or less the same as for Yuri, the system failed Castle while Yuri had to deal with these same failures for years. Both do what the system wasn't able or willing to do so, even if their "ideologies" are different. Despite his methods though, Frank doesn't encourage others to be like him, he's actively against it and will warn you that if you'd try, you'd be on his list too. So in that regard, Wraith is likely to be his target as well. I'd love to see a Punisher cameo in Spider-Man 2, after he first appeared in a SM comic.
I could see Wraith picking off ground-level villains while Spidey deals with the major baddies, but it creates enough of a problem that Parker has to deal with it before Yuri goes over the very deep end.
They just said that SM2 story is gonna be a lot darker. Ill just turn up the brightness then. Jokes aside i wish Sm2 exist of ps4 too. Ill never buy next gen if it aint SRP.
@@marksayosmejia7251 can't wait for spider-man 2 Venom and harry osborn Yuri becoming wraith There will be definietly more dark plots too so i cannot wait
This one of the darkest moment in this game man seeing hammer head beat all the cops to death then just throw them away like garbage is so sad. Then to see how yuri falls just shows how hard being Spider-Man is considering he’s been through so much and never waivers when it comes to doing the right thing no matter how hard it is.
That is why I say all the time “among the greatest of fools is he who pushes a strong willed person beyond their breaking point. For they will become your most dangerous enemy. The only for greater than them is he who angers, the omnipotent God.“
No. Spiderman goes by his strong moral obligations. Killing someone is wrong. That's why Spiderman never kills. Yuri is his friend and that's why he doesn't want her to become a murderer. Even if she's killing criminals.
@@e.m.rivera8948 IKR. I hate when people say even killing bad people is okay, no. It's not. You can't kill anyone. There's difference between murder and execution.
Yuri has become the Punisher, and I’m ok with that. Not everyone’s gonna vigilante the way Spider-Man does, and at least she’s methodical and thorough about it.
@@vampwolf1784I would rather to see her with Scarlet Kane because: 1. He's a great character and I would love to see him 2. He would be able to stop Peter from stopping Yuri
The problem with the punisher is that he doesn’t make anything better. He only kills bad people who deserve to be killed but that just allows more bad people to take over. You can’t kill everyone and not expect consequences.
@@hopelesslyoptimistic8231 Gerry Conway talked about if they ever rebooted The Punisher, he could see a person of color remind people what the character stood for. Imagine if Yuri was the one to dawn the Punisher logo in another storyline.
@@jesusveitia180 in fairness, i would be WAY more terrified of spider-man that batman. I mean, did you see what he did to Fisk after he went after Aunt May?
Peters morality is almost the same as batmans he bealives criminals no matter how evil that they are dont deserve to die in my opnion this mindset is so naive hell in comics peter goes out of his way to save the life of criminals who killed innocent people
@@Tywil714 Batman doesnt think no matter how evil they are they dont deserve to die. He wants every criminal to die, the problem is the Batman is as insane as Joker just in their own respective ways. Batman is insane to where hes going on this life threatening mission every night putting criminals in jail every single night despite them coming back over and over and Joker is insane because he's well just a serial killer so Batman thinks that if he kills someone hes going to become insane like the Joker is and wont be able to stop himself. Batman is insane but hes on the verge of becoming a serial killer.
It's Watanabe who seeing things in black and white. Her desire for a perfect justice system in which ALL evil is punished caused her to become a murderer who fixes the "flaws" in the justice system. Murdering a murderer is still murder and this will kill her empathy for everyone, friends and enemies alike.
bro, if you think this is dark I feel like you need to see some more spider-man material...There's story lines where Peter eats Mary Jane while she's alive....One where he fuses Reed Richards into his webbing to help keep the city from falling apart. Reed is awake and aware despite being webbing, and is in excruciating pain. This barely scratches the surface of some of the dark shit Peter goes through.
“Just because someone stumbles and loses their way, doesn't mean they are lost forever. Sometimes we all need a little help”. - Sir Patrick Stewart as Professor X, X-Men Days of Future Past (2014) Look Yuri may be lost and in a bad place but that doesn't mean she has lost herself completely, Peter and Miles needs to find a way to help her in Spider-Man 2.
They are heroes the situation isn’t about deserving it’s about stopping a monster that keeps on killing people and if you don’t stop him he keeps on killing.
I like to think that when peter said "any of you guys read that chapter in the art of war about misdirection?" someone on the field texted the others to check the inside of the building in case he wasnt fibbing and that's what got those cops killed
I like the little Punisher reference made. “You do what you gotta do. I’ll do what I gotta do.” Love this story. Can’t wait to see Wraith in Spider-Man 2
@ace of spades yeah to protect the infinity gauntlet against thanos forces that's the only time the other time was to introduce the mode in homecoming which Peter said no
Actually mcu spiderman killed outriders. Outriders arent alive they are robots made of flesh. They arent sentient. So mcu spider-man doesnt kill either
Daredevil has the Punisher to deal with him in case of "no-kill rule". Spider-man has Yuri to deal with this dilemma. In case of Spider-Man, it hurts him more because they worked together before, and Yuri was on the side of law once.
@@expiredcoffee7991 It was not revenge, what she did to hammerhead can be seen as revenge but not this, that man killed 10 people unpunished and would have killed more, Yuri has a point.
And generally the same mission: fight street level crime in their chosen cities while being on call for the big threats if and wen needed. And having a super sexy and badass femme fatale cat-themed thief as an on-again/off again love interest. And having a family of superheroes mostly themed around the animal that they themselves are themed off of. And are the biggest named heroes in their respective comic companies.
@@thatonequietkid4459 batman dosen't pull his punches because at the end he's just a human as well. Spider-Man on the other hand has serious among of super strength, he has to pull his punches so he would not kill his enemies by accident.
Its a very dangerous and stupid mentality especially if your dealing with super powered serial killers with no remorse or regret for the people they kill AND ON TOP OF THAT they keep breaking out of prison everytime and end up killing more people when they are caught and spared by the "heroes" yea it makes sense to spare the thugs and villains that obviously feel remorse and regret for the crimes and have human decency cause they can change with therapy and actual help but for the people that literally dont care and just do it just cause and have no intentions to stop, you can only let em go so many times before they kill more people and the only reason it works for spider man and bat man is because they are super heroes and its a fictional story so no one stronger and smarter is gonna come along and be like hey we need to kill Joker or Hammerhead cause more people will die if we dont because it becomes a case of terrorism at this point and Im pretty sure we can all agree we wouldnt just allow a terrorist to run wild
27:05 - 27:10 Asking if this hitman deserved to die is the wrong way to frame the issue, it's silly and it actually made me chuckle. 27:30 This is the correct way to frame the issue. Spiderman believes killing is a line the side of "good" and "justice" shouldn't cross. It's not about whether or not the bad guys and villians could "deserve" to die. Yuri will become a punisher type of vigilante in the sequel and she will gradually lower her standard for who "deserves" to die.
I wonder how they will resolve this plot thread. Cause it looks to me like Spiderman will see her in a morally grey situation until she makes one bad decision that completely turns her into an enemy in Spider-Man’s eyes
That Maggia enforcer got what he deserved. He killed 10 in people and would have killed more if Yuri did not kill him. I disagree with Spider-Man. There are some criminals who are truly too dangerous to keep alive
@@chaosinorder9685 Exactly. The mentality of heroes like Spider-Man and Batman are very flawwed because allowing serial killers to live just because they have "good" in them is bogus especially when they keep breaking out and killing MORE PEOPLE the only reason it works for those heroes is because they have super powers and its a fictional story in the real world this would get a ridiculous amount of people killed
@@spikytoaster right. But powers or no powers if you don’t kill a person who is truly pure evil and they kill more people there blood is on their hands and it’s also on yours because you didn’t do it. It took to stop them. that’s why I prefer the ideal of the antihero. Because they understand that there are some criminals. You have to kill and can’t afford to live alive.
Yuri going Full Punisher and Killing Criminals is not the issue here... It's Obvious that they deserves what's coming and honestly I have zero problems nor blame her. But if Taken from Peter's POV and Naïve as it may be,you can still see the Issue and That Issue being the fact that how taking such path will pretty much mentally scars Yuri and it's everything against her code and what she've been fighting for and at the end it'll end up changing her into a totally different person and Judging by the looks of it She's completely fine about it and That's Exactly what Peter is worried about it,He's experiencing immerse grief about losing a good friend. I mean, would you let and encourage your Kind,Happy and head strong best friend turn into the Cold Blooded Vigilante ? and The Reason why Punisher is fine about it is that He got no friends to give 0 fucks about what he does nor he gets judged whle Yuri does and she got friends,Peter Parker is mainly one of them.
Don't know about anyone else but I really like how Yuri's character development were as she was serve and protect now she's kill crazy for true justice reminds me of red hood
Something like that. I'm not to familiar with how Batman handled it but having the cop turn against what she stands for because she's sickened by how ineffective her justice is, it's not all that uncommon. I think it's handled pretty well here.
Funny how Peter's voice actor and Yuri's voice actress are both married. Peter's voice actor is named Yuri, while his wife plays the role of a woman named Yuri

hey guys do you realize that peters right boot is broken the lower part has a missing part but in photo mode it shows up I hope its repaired in the remastered version
I definitely understand the pain and suffering Yuri went through, but betraying your strongest ally, demolishing a gang hideout and using advanced weaponry to kill your rival is going too far
I don't see why everyone's so mad of her killing the dude he's a criminal boss he'll be out of jail within like 2 weeks tops then it's right back to killing she just put a permanent solution to a problem
27:40 it is so hard not to hear Edelgard from Fire Emblem: Three Houses whenever I hear this voice line. Tbh Yuri's character basically has the same kind of vibes, they don't trust the system of their world so they take matters/justice into their own hands.
Very interesting that spiderman is voiced by yuir lowenthal and his wife is voicing a character in this game named yuri so I wonder how wierd that must of felt for him
@The Krimson Kommando I would absolutely tell it to every cop and/or soldier who does it, especially cops. Executions are unethical, but even when we do them, the person has a trial by jury. Any person killed by a cop did not have a trial
Imagine Yuri/Wraith meet Frank Castle/The Punisher. Sure, both of them lost some important people & loved ones and both became crime fighting gun wielding vigilante but the difference was while Yuri turn to the darker side, Frank did not but instead he let his grief and anger into him that molded into what he is today but he carefully not to attack any random innocent civilians especially children.
Knowing that the Spider-Man sequel is just right around the corner next year, I really hope the game developers don’t forget about Yuri becoming Wraith because it kinda bugged me she wasn’t mentioned in Miles Morales Spider-Man. Also it’s hard to disagree with Yuri because criminals like that Maggie enforcer that killed eight people do deserve to die. But as usual Spider-Man is always light hearted.
Guys, on Kravens device at the beginning of the trailer, it shows all the people in the area in queens remember? It shows black cat , miles, and Peter. But what people didn’t see was that Wraith was seen on the device. Watch the trailer again in a slower speed you see wraith on the device so she’s gonna be in the game.
@@kaddindefiant I bet it’s going to be emotional for Peter because Yuri was one of his closest friends and he has to fight her or unless he’s going to wear the Venom symbiote that’s going to make him not have any sympathy for her because the symbiote boosts aggression in their hosts.
This is the result of being pushed too far. She goes further. She gets her hands on Zoltan Drago Fear Gas formula and "Steals" the equipment of various other villains suits, ranging from one Mysterio's suit versions of gas emitters, and Chameleon's mask. Just one deep spiral for an officer of the law.
I think the general consensus of super heroes being willing to kill. Is that it'd make most of them too damn dangerous. If they kill one villain then what's to stop them from killing more? Then the worst case scenario may happen, they may start to let the killing control them, make them more violent, and thus cloud their judgement on who to kill and who not to kill. It isn't the same for everyone obviously. There's a good chunk of heroes out there who can kill and stay morally in the right and not go down a dark path. But for the vast majority, killing once or twice can be all it takes to fall down a dark bottomless hole of no return. Killing in itself can be quite neutral as there are many stories out there of normal civilians killing in self-defense. Where they otherwise would've died themselves or had been critically injured. But end up moving on with their lives without any major psychological damage other than it was a bit shocking to have to process. These people weren't wrong in the head either as general analyses shows it's just a normal response to killing a person you have no connections to who was trying to either threaten your or your loved ones lives. It's only really a problem when people with power, authority, or both start going on a murder spree. Cause then all it takes is one misjudgment and a bad but not evil or villainous will suffer a meaningless and unnecessary death. Or even worse a totally innocent person getting caught in the cross fire be it by accident or a misunderstanding. Which from there digs a rabbit hole of what is right and what is wrong for the person. Killing isn't immediately or inherently evil. Sometimes we do it to survive and protect. Other times killing can be quite natural like when fighting in a war or living in the older times. But obviously a superhero, people who we need to look up to, and be inspired by, and relate to. Shouldn't be going around killing people unless absolutely necessary to show use how we can be better. So if they do start killing, then what even is a superhero? Just another person capable of the same things as the rest of us and that is scary considering what most people are capable of doing, even among the best of us.
I think It's only really justified for a super hero to kill a Super Villain who is either a repeat offender, or too powerful to arrest at all. Like Arrest them the first time, but if they break out and kill again, all mercy is gone.
@@vivil2533 Even then there's this constant moral debate on what super heroes, depending on the setting, should and should not do. I can see both sides of the argument really.
I mean yuri’s 100% right but like most people self-righteously lashing out violently at the world the “definitely bad ones” will probably never be enough. It’s always those ones and then pattern recognition tells you to take out the ones with lesser wrongdoing to “prevent them from becoming a future threat” then the ones with minor wrongdoing to “set an example” and then the ones with perceived wrongdoing to “keep them in line” and the qualifications for deserving death become so muddled you just become a serial killer Unless you live in a world where criminals regularly get let out/break out/pay out of jail for any number of reasons, then murder is basically the only way to keep these bastards from killing innocents sooooo...
I've always said if i was a hero in one of these universes my policy would be "I'll send them to jail the first time, and to hell the second." I think it's the best balance between the Moral and pragmatic way to handle it. Exceptions can be made if it's someone like Reptile who is being affected by something, that could be cured. In which case we should try out best to cure him, and only kill him if it is impossible to do so. But generally we clearly lack the facilities to hold most super villains, and if somebody like Rhino gets out, there are potentially massive numbers of casualties.
i wish spiderman and a bunch of other softy heroes would realize is that part of being a hero isnt saving everyone and death is an acceptable consequence for most villains to ensure, oh idk, that they dont take over the country, planet or universe as they tend to do when given all these chances...
Peter no longer has the best influence in the world with the black suit And now that Yuri has become the wraith And she will appear in the second game I'm sure Peter will have missions that he will have to team up with her to catch some bad guys Of course he won't agree with the killing his enemies part at first but little by little the more missions he does with her and the more he becomes addicted to wearing the black suit He will start to understand that sometimes he will need to be tougher and more ruthless with criminals. And Yuri seeing this will be happy to see that Peter has started to understand his ideals and will also start teaching him some tricks like how to get more information when interrogating An enemy teaching the art of fear that to achieve certain goals bones will have to be broken if necessary
Funny thing is that Spider-Man doesn't really have a "no killing" rule like Batman does. Idk why they started doing this all of a sudden. When his villains are bad enough and are irredeemable, he will kill them
