We can say whatever we want, but to me, he’s the REAL goat no matter what. He attempted jumps that people thought were impossible and everytime we thought he reached perfection, he did EVEN BETTER the time after. He’s an artist. King Yuzu 🙇🏻♀️
No one can deny how truly groundbreaking he was as a competitive athlete, but what made so many of us stay is his commitment and dedication to the sport, regardless of whatever circumstances (and to new fans, trust me, there A Lot of circumstances) and stones are hurled his way, his unprecedented mindset towards skating, in what ways exactly he expresses his unending adoration for it - through countless interviews, documentaries, media days, competitions, it is very clear we will never see another who loves skating quite as much as he does. “Skating equals living” and “(during the earthquake this March after he returned from Beijing) the number one thing on my mind was to protect my boots. I felt that even if I was in danger, I would still retrieve it, protect - I thought I might cry at the thought of protecting it. Perhaps this is what figure skating is to me.” Among other things as well, like his SIX crossover short program, Rondo Capriccioso, who experts have said was impossible to execute. Or truly unbelievable transitions and innovations, and matching every single movement of his boots to every nuance in the music. He really was the most dedicated competitive skater of all time.
Even with this PERFECT program your judges refuse to give the max scores possible to Yuzuru Hanyu, while they reward with big scores whatever of less quality nowadays.. Shame on you and your judges, ISU.
Uh, it's about damn time you publish the "official" video of this masterpiece, considering it's the best free skate ever. But I get that you still feel ashamed of the underscoring of this world record...or at least you should be ashamed.
I don't completely understand how scores go in this sport yet, so why does everyone say he got underscored? I mean he made a mindblowing WR if I'm not mistaken (322 points in total)
@@mireiafarreras9542 At first glance, these 223.20 points appear a lot, as it was a world record score at that time. However, if you take a closer look at the rules and scoring guidelines, and compare the judges' marks for this performance with others, you can't help but think that it's a disappointing result. Hanyu has received a total of 29 perfect scores for technical elements internationally in the course of his career, but not a single one for this performance. None of the 13 executed elements got unanimous +3 GOE from the judging panel despite the high quality of execution. Also, this free skate program was the most balanced to be performed in international competition up to date, especially in transition quality and composition, yet it only received the sixth highest program component score (PCS) in men's singles, which is a shame. Personally, my conviction is that no skater has ever been truly underscored, but rather ridiculously overscored, especially in the program components. However, this particular program - even if you ruthlessly stick with the rules and scoring guidelines - should have deserved at least 227 to 228 of the max possible 234.33 points. That's how outstanding it was.
@Henni147 thank you so much for explaining!! I felt really impressed by this performance cause I believe everything he did was perfection, but I didn't know about the maximum you could get and everything! Anyway even underscored, the score he got is still so f*cking amazing, I mean 233.20 out of 234.33, WOW
He got 223.20 of possible 234.33. This is 11 points away from the maximum. If scoring was consistent and strictly following the guidelines for all skaters and performances, then it would be indeed a great score. But looking at the very selective judging and some blatant candies that have been awarded in the last two systems, these 11 points are a harsh deduction for this once-in-a-lifetime skate.
@@henni1475 think of 234 points for a 4-quad FP, it's just mind-blowing. Imagine if ISU had treated him fair, literally no one would have opposed him being the GOAT, even American ^^
This is really the greatest figure skating performance of all time. Perfect and organic in every way. It still gives me goosebumps after all these years.
ISU used an unfair scoring system to try to create the next sport superstar, but unfortunately, it's impossible. No matter how much ISU underscored Yuzuru Hanyu, we all know he's the greatest skater of all time. He is the god of figure skating. I will no longer support any games ISU organizes.
I miss seeing Yuzuru on competitive ice so much. He is a genius. He does not take his God given talent for granted. Instead he keeps working harder and harder, pushing himself always. To me, he is the best ever.
Freed from ISU rules, Yuzuru is striving every day as a pioneer of professional figure skater. In each of his ice shows/Ice Stories he gives performance beyond anyone's expectation and imagination.
@@loveloveloveloveeeIlia has all the jumps which is incredible and I respect that. But other than that, his spins, steps, skating skills and expressions are very much lacking which makes his performance a little boring to watch despite the high component scores. And that's the reason why he hasn't gained much popularity even though he has won the latest GPF and Worlds. I hope he improves in the next two seasons and at least bring some sparks to Milan Olympics.
Skating isnt the same now, this was art on skates, now its jumps & less artistic, I feel no desire to watch it now. This man was incredible, elegant, artistic & a joy to watch.
ya but its sad the whole sport went backwards and going backwards day by day lack of personality and just jumping was never figure skatingj it used to be so good til the rule changes in 2018
Also @ISU you should send yuzuru a bouquet of flowers and a letter saying sorry for the way you've treated your best, most talented and beloved athlete these past few seasons. just a suggestion :)
Yuzu said it's his most "Yuzuru Hanyu" moment!!!! in one of his Japanese interviews today!! Fly high Yuzu!!! All the best for the future!!! Thank you for everything!!
We're very lucky to be alive in this time, to witness the greatest male ice skater in human history. It's only a shame the Olympics are in 4 year intervals, he would've won dozens of gold medals if they held it seasonally. 😂
The only GOAT of figure skating for real. The only real best free skate ever. Yuzuru Hanyu is and will be remembered and recognised by the fans even without the help of the federations that do not love and deserved him.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻☝️⛸️🥰🥰🥰
Hanyu had been underscored by the judges for many years. There are lots of analyses of his program's scores online according to ISU's own rule book, They compared the same technical elements w/ other skaters', frame by frame analysis, while others w/ subpar jumps got much higher GOE/PCS. Also, there are many commentators who had questions about his scores too. This is not a secret. ISU tried to get rid of him for a very long time already.
Yuzu is just absolutely perfect here, it's stunning and breathtaking. I like watching the program with the Italian commentators, they have the right mindset and dare to criticize the scoring.
During an interview after the presscon, Yuzu said his skating skills and PCS had reached more or less full marks back in 2015 and even though he’d improved since, the scores were coming down. He felt happier showing his performance to the audience who showed more appreciation and not about winning/losing. ISU do you have something to say about it, in front of masterpieces like H&L (which you published yesterday)? Do you think he really deserved a lower pcs scores in Otonal or Origin or LMEY or Rondo, for instance?
This season definitely won't be the same without him. He's such a brilliant artist and seems like a wonderful person. His many fans including myself will miss him but I'm happy that he's not quitting skating completely. Yuzu I wish you lots of happiness and good luck on your next adventure. I cant wait to see it!
A real GOAT in figure skating cause he is so unique and unreplicable. He is the only man can balances the artistic and skating techniques and show us incredible performances in each time even under deliberate and malicious suppression. Scores and medals do not mean anything. We just follow Yuzuru Hanyu. Now he becomes a professional athlete in figure skating. We can finally say good bye to this corrupting judging system. Like just for Yuzu Kun and his figure skating
I can't agree with you more. So many fans left despite of their love to Yuzuru Hanyu because the evil actions of corrupted ISU is insufferable. So many stayed because of their love to Yuzuru Hanyu is too strong even the evil actions of corrupted ISU is insufferable. Now, we can all leave ISU and happy for the fact we will no longer need to see their evil actions, fake competitions and unworthy medalists again.
