I love working on bikes. Today we swap out the Spark plugs on the Z900RS.

I'll probably do coolant as well while I'm at it all, just have to see what I want to put I there! Then the Z will be upgraded and serviced, chain and sprockets too......and I might do a 520 conversion!

Nice vid again. One thing I'd always do is check the new plug gaps in case they were dropped or something to that effect. Went to buy a vstrom 1000 after Xmas and due to my indecisive nature , bike got sold to some other lucky devil. So bought a varadero instead . big lump but rides like a magic carpet on the road. Still scratching my head on that one.

Thanks! Honestly I eyeball them and if they seem off I'll check them, or if a box is damaged, or if I plan on thrashing the thing. To be fair I only use NGK, I've probably changed 100s of them at this point and have never had one out. Id actually probably not buy a vehicle if it couldn't use NGK 😂 Ah hate that. I've lost a lot of vehicles to the fact I like to ponder over decisions for an eternity. Ah nice! Anyone I've ever met who has had one absolutely loves them and they go forever, how is it in to corners a little bit hot?

Thanks for a great video and a really useful video reference library on Z900rs.Just a question were the throttle body clamps hard to get off,is there a knack seemingly their a pig to do ?

No hassle! I just record what I'm doing so glad they're occasionally useful :) Nope, pulled right off. You saw what I did live in the video I didn't do a thing extra and they slipped back on too, I checked the after and they are tight. In the service manual it doesn't tell you to loosen them even so probably designed to just slip off and back on(on takes a little bit of lining up and pressure)

Good vid again. All the jobs on the Z900 look exceptionally "doable". Mmmh, another reason to want one (as if I need more reasons 😅). OC - funds, ie lack thereof, prevent Z900 purchase 😢😢 plus I have numerous jobs to do on my bike (which I'm really looking forward to 😁). Keep them there floopers flapping sir, cheers, Andy.

Thank you sir :) Honestly so far a very nice bike to work on, looks like I'll have good access to the valves as well when that comes time. Hey a house is more important to be fair, I'd get one if something affordable and not crap came up. Haha I shall!

A new dimension. Thanks to the voice of reason. I must say I am unconvinced by push on air intakes. After thousands of years of fiddling with clamps are Kawasaki saying this is all we needed to do? I, like you, never bothered much about checking plug gaps until I worked for BMW where the Bosch plugs actually needed gaping as they were all over the place. So another step taken...... Another good video. Thank You. 👍

They technically have clamps but apparently I don't need to touch them. Once in place I suppose the tank sort of holds it there, but I agree, the gsxrs setup is still my favorite. Apparently they are! Set the clamps once and leave them alone 😂 Ah fair, I actually just replied to another comment saying I do only use NGK, I genuinely wouldn't buy something that NGK didn't cover. I love them 😂😂😂 I've literally never had one let me down. Thanks Stephen!

I had no idea some bikes used those style ignition coils! I guess I need to start spending time around more modern bikes. 😂

A first for me as well! But I do like it! Coil on plug always made a lot of sense to me since you can individually diagnose and replace them :)

Have you considered a valve adjustment, or doing a tutorial on doing one? It can be kind of intimidating with having to measure gaps and adding the bits to make it all run properly. I'm having a brain fart on what things are called. Shims? Probably not right lol. Anyway another great video!

Yep. Very hard to record them tho. I'll do the next one I do on the Suzuki, last time I was short on time to get it done for a trip and just didn't have time. The Z isn't due yet but eventually when I need to do it and can get someone to hold a camera, yes. Yep! Shims is correct :) Thanks!

Look at you, a real-life educated engineer using valve clearance gauges to check spark plug gaps. Curse you. LOL Cross threading a plug would be big time bungholeness. OC: Because Ducatis and Aprillia's are expensive, high strung beasts but I still want one.

I have an embarrassing amount of gauges for gaps and such in my possession 😂😂 I deserve cursing :P Yep, one job that is 10000% worth doing nice and slow. Fixing a spark plug thread would be abject misery. I want an aprilia so so much 😂
