My Dad passed away 4 weeks ago. He was an Air Force fighter pilot and a Vietnam Vet, who served two tours in Vietnam, and taught many other pilots. I've been sorting through the memorabilia he left behind, and there are so many things that show very clearly just how tight the bond is between Brothers in Arms. This movie was a great illustration of that as well. To all the Vets out there, know that your sacrifice is appreciated, more than you will ever know. And to all of the spouses and families, without your sacrifice, our Vets could not do their jobs half as well. Thank you. High Flight By John Gillespie Magee, Jr. Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth, And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air. "Up, up the long delirious burning blue I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace, where never lark, or even eagle, flew; and, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of God.
I chose to follow my great grandpa's kentucky national guard infantry. I ship for bct in August than I'm gonna stick around 6 months than go active duty just like my old man. I'm in a RSP unit up till I ship for bct. I have never been so sore in my life. But I keep pushing and stay motivated. I am not a quitter and will not back down just like my old man.
Im 17 and I have had a dream since i was 5 to serve my country, yea the branches in which i would serve have changed since but ive settled for the marines, I dont have a reason why, its not just to protect, or to be cool. Its like a little voice in the back of my head saying join and become of higher people. I'll be signing up on my birthday.
@@aditsandavis4511 Hell yeah man. We get dirty while the world stays clean. I'm fine going to a third world country and sleeping in a hole. I'm fine with fighting with evil people. I hope you are too brother
This song is so true to my heart I'm a proud woman army combat vet now battling stage 4 brain cancer I stand before our flag with pride and honor 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Hardest thing I have ever done, was pack and leave for Iraq in 2008. Kissing my kids bye. Daughter was 7 and son was 5. My daughter asked me "why do you have to fight a war?". I told her its was daddies do so you can be safe at home. I was lucky, I came home. So many didnt. ....................I would go back without question.
Im a highschool freshman right now , its my dream to serve in the u.s. army , its not just because i want to protect my country, but i want to feel like i accomplished something in life , and i want to build a bond with my brothers and sisters that serve with me that will never break., signing up the day i graduate
It's heart wrenching to see these sacrifices amounting to such a disastrous end to this bloody conflict. Their sacrifices were NOT for nothing, for 20 years there haven't been another 9/11 🇨🇵🤝🇺🇸
There sacrifices were not for nothing, for 20 years, men, woman and children in Afghanistan could live in relative peace and safety. The gave people protection, hope and happiness. God Bless each one.

Respect mate, hope to stand next to you in the not to distant future, but I'll be wearing the Australian flag not the American. Here's to an alliance that is stronger than a brotherhood 🍻 🇦🇺🇺🇸
Just saw the movie 12 Strong. Amazing boots-on-ground film, finely acted (especially by Hemsworth), and this song, timed with the ending montage, was perfect. Love it already.
I fought in the afghan war, it breaks my heart to see the way we left it. I wish we could have finished the job the right way, liberating the good people that need help.
This makes me cry because my uncle was a spec ops and was assigned to be shipped out a mont after 9/11 he was at a village the village was attacked and completely destroyed after the attack was over no one survived the attack next day I got a folded flag ( I was at my aunts house when I got the flag )
The words in this song is solid! For anyone who has actually deployed to a combat zone, the words means a lot because we had each other and that was it. We had our families at home but we kept going
Why especially to US troops? All other countries’ troops risk just as much, fight just as hard, and love their country just as much as ours do, even our enemies. While we may not like every nation’s military, we should still salute the courage and bravery it takes to serve. Especially to those that go against us, because they either must be much braver or absolutely crazy to even think about facing the might that is the United States military.
Chris Trotta ...They probably from America and supports the United States more than other nations (Being from the United States I support our military more)
Chris Trotta Because I served in the US Army for 7 years. You are right, I have met and served with plenty of brave men and women from there own respective countries. And that is why I said salute to all who serve. But because I still have brothers in the military now, and because I live in the US, I say a special thank you to those who defend our great country.
My dad served in the army,I also have uncles and cousins who served and its men like them that make this country what it is land of the brave and free. It takes alot of courage for men to leave what they love behind to go and fight a war on another soil!
02:11 beautiful moment. Two kind of warriors. Different countries, cultures, religion, technologies but anyway they can fight and laugh together against evil.
Much truth in this one. A brother just sent this to me. I sure needed to hear this message during this dark time. My brothers are always with me as part of me is with them. We are never alone.
I’ve seen “The Outpost”, and I nearly felt like crying from that. May those brothers and sisters find each other in the next life. Peace to the fallen, and semper fi.
To those men involved in the story, I've no words to describe the bravery you showed, as all other men and women of any armed services, I can only salute you all God bless
To all those who proudly stated how their families had served the flag..... deepest respect from across the ocean. A people can consider themselves great when warriors leave that which they love to face hell to save what and who they believe in. God Bless you all!!
These men packed their gear, loaded their weapons and stood fast. They kissed their families GOODBYE. They then banded together and went on what seemed like a one way mission. They came back and nobody knew about what they did and they didn’t care. They did what they did for what you have today.
It is not only about protecting our families and friends. It’s also about protecting and helping those who cannot on their own but wish to live free from oppression, hate and violence. You can say about reasons and governments whatever you want to say but I believe that most soldiers of democratic countries just try to defend their values and fight for those who aren’t as privileged to do so!
Ups and Downs in life, and yet it still goes on. We all have to be strong what battles we fight. Every day lesson I keep learning and thank god I am blessed with people who got my back.
When the days all look the same When that lonely wind keeps singing only you can ease the pain That's the kind of bond that you can't break Don't know why am crying
“That's the kind of bond that you can't break.” It's true for all soldiers no matter where they are, basic training or on deployment. When you're in the military, you form a kind of brotherhood that nothing or nobody can't break.
Was such a good movie I watched it the day it was out! Thank you to all the Soldiers serving for us, as a developer for the most realistic military game on the market today that very many veterans and soldiers play still to this day I’m glad to continue something that makes them happy
My greatest condolences to the fallen soldiers of the respective countries who died protecting their motherland. And may greatest salute and regards to serving personnels..... protecting us..... Love and peace from INDIA.... All hail humanity
When you heart's on the edge Barely hanging on like a midnight cigarette When the nights don't seem to end And that lonely wind is singing you to sleep once again I won't make a promise I can't keep Like a river flows to the ocean deep It goes on and on Bound to forever Even when we're gone It goes on and on We'll be together At the rising of the dawn It goes on When your mind's on the loose Slowly wearing out like a faded old tattoo When the days all look the same When that lonely wind keeps singing only you can ease the pain That's the kind of bond that you can't break Like looking up at all the stars in space It goes on and on Bound to forever Even when we're gone It goes on and on We'll be together At the rising of the dawn It goes on Digging through the sands of time to find my way back home Your memory's the thing that keeps me hanging on To know I'm not alone, we're stronger than the bonds of blood Even on the darkest days together through the valley of the gun It goes on and on Bound to forever Even when we're gone It goes on and on and on We'll be together At the rising of the dawn We'll be together At the rising of the dawn Traduzir para o português
If I was old enough then and as skilled as these 12 men in real life. I would have gone! No bigger honor, though when they got back home they didn’t get recognized publicly till it was declassified
Im so thankful for the men who cared enough for us to be safe! Its better to die for something than nothing at all!! If I could go back that is exactly what I would have done, PROTECT our FREEDOM!!!
