The line is the reason that Drake Maye isn't starting in week 1. They're trying to give the line a few weeks to try to get it together so Maye doesn't get killed as a rookie.
I agree. This O-line is a HUGE work in progress which probably won't start to come together as a cohesive unit no earlier than Game 4. The big question marks are Caedan Wallace and Layden Robinson. If they become starting material as Wallace definitely should seeing his draft position taken, things may not be all that bad. Thomas and the other O-lineman picked up, Jacobs, should provide some decent depth provided they can develop.
Here's a funny fact on the 2022 pre-draft boards such as that of NFLDraftBuzz. Thomas was rated 40th on the OT's list 3 or 4 pegs higher than buddy, Verderian Lowe!!!!! He was drafted in the 6th round, but what befuddles me is how the Pat's 7 rd. pick that year, OT Andrew Steuber was rated #13 of all OTs on that blog and wasn't able to do anything with the team. On another blog however, he was rated #30 right behind Thomas!!! Lowe was #24.
