This video shows how to take apart and service the classic and vintage Zebco 202 spin casting fishing reel made in the early 1960s. I show how to remove each piece and how to restore this reel in the video.

This brings back memories. My grandpa gave me a 202 as my first reel.

Have you done a video on the 70s Zebco one? It is likely the highest quality Zebco made. Very solid with bearings and brass internals.

I always thought of this as a starter reel for children. Wonder why it was relatively expensive at the time. I had the Shakespeare version of this when I was very young 5 years or less then went to Mitchell 300. Interesting to see this broken down. Thanx for the video.

I think we all think of them as children's reels because that is what many of us started with. Simple and durable. They can and do last a lifetime - Thanks - Dennis

I remember musky fishing with my uncle and using one of these with a creek chub lure. we were in a boat and it was snowing and cold. I was watching some sticks floating past the boat when a hugh musky hit my lure. After what seemed a lifetime and several attempts to land the musky he came loose. That musky melted every gear in my 202.

Hi Dennis, I was looking for a pawl or stubby spike to catch line and put onto spool. I didnt see one. What catches line to wrap around the spool. -Nice video.
