My 5 day old baby zebra finch looks like the Day 1 version in your video. It didn't have any feathers until Day 3. It started chirping today :) mine has pink flesh

I feel as if any bird owner will never truly experience the horrors of seeing a baby zebra finch until they see one and hold it in their hand

Such an adorable baby. We are currently on egg watch for our mated pair of Zebra Finches. There are three eggs in their nest currently and Mama and proud Papa are doing great with them.

I got 2 finch birds,At the pet store i wasted 55$ I got toys, food, water bottle and more. Then my birds layed 7 eggs. The first egg hatched and it's still alive today :) 3 broke 5th one hatched :D only 42 days old right now and the last 2 never hatched so we got rid of them.. I AM SO LUCKY update 4 years later if anyone still reads: the finch family lives on! the parents had 3 children total, 2 of them passed due to some mystery, not entirely sure what happened as they were relatively young and eating well, mother finch passed as well.. :( only 2 males left, father and son. i love them all

thats soooo sweeeet.... such a little doll just LOVE dis chick.... i just bcame a grandma bcoz my finches hatched two days ago. three little chicks.... so small n so sweet. i feel so sorrry for d mum n dad finch. they too r so exhausted n sleepy. literally dozing off. i am with them all through their joy n help them by keeping grains of millet in their nest. its easier for them to feed their chicks. every time i keep a watchful eye in them.

We are on our 6th round of babies. We have had 6 live (three of them at one time, they are the ones making babies now - the other 3 babies single hatches 2 doing well and one died after 2 months) We have 6 in the cage now with 3 new ones (if all goes well we will have 9 in the cage) I was just going to throw the nest out as there were 15 eggs in there and they were there for at least a few weeks. (didn't know if they were fertile or not so decided to leave them) Looked in the nest today and saw mom in there and thought let's see what's going on and low and behold there are 3 in the nest with 10 eggs left. I'm sure those will get tossed out as the babies get bigger. Hoping they all live! Thank you for sharing the video. :)

Great video! My finches just had three babies over the past three days. An egg hatched once per day. A fourth egg didn't hatch. I only feed my finches seed, so I hope that's enough for them to feed the babies with ?? It looks like the father is bringing up food for them - so I hope the seed is enough. Any suggestions?

My zebra finch laid 4 eggs. 3 hatched. All the three are doing well. But they are very small. The first one is only 6 days old.

This is too cute for words I have just had finches people have them and think just buying finch seed is enough which if you want happy healthy birds like this persons who’s are completely adorable and look amazing if I do say so myself please when buying these birds they not as easy or cheap to feed I have 17 all in maybe a few more they not stand long enough for me count them right I lost two threw bad diet from their old owner the need good diets take a bit to start working and counter act the damages in the bird but all mine are on pellet veterinary diet for breeding birds which I protein and aviary mix seed with Scottish tonic in it plus fruit and salad they have to have fine grit and cuttlefish these birds are adorable yes but please to keep them looking amazing and health please please read into them first before getting them I can’t thank this person enough for putting this one from egg to be all grown up feather standing with mum dad it’s so cute they are adorable little birds who are calming for people old and young I spend hours talking to mine and laughing at them when they trying to take long peace’s of hey into the nesting box’s and it’s too long to fit threw I get my hay from a well known pet shop the one with camomile they love but please you also struggle to find vets that know about these birds as well I spent 4 days on phone to find a vet that knows about exsotic bird but I am lucky I have someone I can ring who knows different vets who knows all about it’s a rspca inspector I know she helps and gets her feelers out for me to their vets they use for their rescue animals so I am one of lucky ones I have contacts I can ask advice on which vets near me deal these birds

Interesting. I only question the effect you, as an observer, had on this finch. It seems that the first 15 days or so, each video session was paired with the baby finch expecting a food reward (which you probably did not give as its parents were feeding it, I presume?). I wonder what psychological effect this may have had on the finch. Imagine, you may have imprinted him with the expectation of disappointment in life, distrust towards parents, or even poorly developed skills for his own parenting. Next time place a fixed webcam.
