Great to see you back Zach/Zeek/Ever Cool. You did get some scores baby. Brothers Johnson is a good listen. Didn't Billy Joe Shaver record with Willie and also Elvis? Thanks for sharing these Zeek-ster. The Aretha came out when I was working my first year at Strawberries Records. Actually my first official year was 1987. That came out at the tail end of 86. It sold very well. Have a good week brother Zeek~ Rob/Boston
I bet it was fun to work at Strawberries Records in the Boston area in 1987 Rob~ Billy Joe Shaver wrote almost all the songs on Waylon Jenning's classic album "Honky Tonk Heroes." He definitely played with Willie Nelson but I don't know about Elvis. I wouldn't be shocked if Elvis covered at least one of his songs. It's good to hear from you my friend!
You are correct Zeek. I have so many warm memories from working at Strawberries. More than any other job I ever had. I only worked there from 87 to 94. I managed the place the last five years. It was not like your average commercial record store. I got to know so many label reps that the promos were being sent to us every other day. Especially posters, flats and album release items. One of my favorites was the whole unopened display for Big Top Pee Wee with a Pee Wee ceiling fly around. Another was the Pink Floyd Momentary Lapse of Reason pink Pig Sponge. It is so sharp Zeek. I could go on and on. Hope your family are all doing well Z~
Thank you Steve for clarifying! Coincidentally I saw a new video today with Slash and AC/DC’s Brian Johnson from Newcastle today. It was a new cover of Killing Floor. Steven Tyler plays harp
Cupid Single! NICE! That photo of Hendrix on the single is a little unsettling, haha! The Modern Dance - great score! You have such a unique taste and wide in music. The country influence sorta thows it all off, which is just to say, it's overlaps a lot with mine but still really different. Glad to be following your channel :-)
Hey buddy I forgot to ask about the Pig Iron when we got back to your house. Ill take the old copy of Al Green if you still have it. I only have one album and 4 singles by him. Where did you get those?
One of my absolute favorite Sinatra albums. So good. I like that Budgie record. Hey man, there is no shame in Christopher Cross. That album is SOOOOOOO GOOD. He’s such an underrated guitarist. His arrangements are off the chain. Hope to see you soon. - TONE
If you are called a Geordie then you are from the Newcastle area. Amazing story of Brian Johnson. One minute he is sleeping on a friends floor after playing to a few people in a pub to becoming a multi millionaire playing to thousands. So glad you picked up a Budgie album who were criminally underrated. Sadly i still retain my concert / gig tickets for this band which amounts to 27. A misspent youth methinks,
The Christopher Cross album has such great musicianship, its hard to hate on it. I kind of regret not seeing John/Joel in the 90s but I just figured it wouldn't be particularly inspired, but I should have given them the benefit of the doubt. All those Grover albums are great non-thinking music.
Hi Zeek, Just picked up that Christopher Cross record recently after ignoring it for all these years. Paid less than 5 bucks, VG+ to boot! Thanks, and have a good week.
