Work makes my brain "mushy", as I call it. Not every single day, but quite a bit. I design & engineer floor trusses for big projects like apartment buildings & senior living centers. Some days it's easy breezy, and other days I feel like my head will split open. Overall though, I absolutely love the work - every building is like a puzzle I get to figure out 👍🏻

I wore my Asics Tri Noosa 14s on a mountain half marathon held at the 2nd phase of ranger school today. About 5% asphalt, 25% trail, and 70% forest service roads. They did well. I didn't want to wear big Hoka Speedgoats nor was I going to wear a plated race shoe. I had to pick something that was light, stable, could go fast on the smooth dirt roads and the Noosa was my best choice out of my vast rotation. I placed 3rd overall today and Masters champ. The icing on top was I graduated ranger school 20 years ago almost to the day. Never thought I would return there for any reason on earth. At least this time it wasn't 62 day of hell but rather 1hr and 43 minutes 🤣🤣....and cold through those mountains.

"I believe in you" - how I needed this message! I run for 2.5 years but only today I completed my first race ever: a half-marathon. Now I know that racing can be more about a mental game than about physical limitations. Body could go faster but the mind does not want to suffer. Your "I believe in you" cheered me during tough moments when I was dropping the pace. Already on the second km I had some issues with my shoes but I tried not to pay attention. Got some bruises at my Achilles but they will heal. Since I did not race before, I started from the last grid. My A goal was sub 90 minutes, B goal 92 minutes. I made the B goal. When i crossed the finish line i had tears in my eyes. Not sure if it was more because of the emotions or because of the sweat coming into my eyes... We believe in you, Seth 💪🏻

Perfect music for the vlog today. Life is all about the process. Sometimes it works the way we want and other times we just have to press on.( I just got over achilles tendonitis and now have a sinus infection.) As a coach (and former competitive gymnast), I usually get a headache after competitions from focusing so much!

January weather on the mountains could be unforgiving but some days could be a lot better, any type of mountain snow is just hiking surface, only flat snowy streets may be running related.

Maybe the speedcross 6 from salomon. It has a pretty aggressive outsole which is perfect for running in the snow and ice I think But I didn't test it by myself

As Dr.Maffetone said in his book, many athletes are fit but they are unhealthy. The primary cause is their diet, full of sugar and refined carbs. Just because a person is running everyday doesn’t make him healthy. Look at the number of injuries these people have had in the past. It should be a wake up call for them to cut their sugar and refined carbs and eat healthy. However it is difficult to accept a simple advice. An athlete may know it but unfortunately they don’t implement it. If you look at most of these channels they only show their running prowess, sadly nothing about their diet control and restrictions. So use your own judgement and don’t follow anything and everything blindly.

Nike trail shoes. Heavy, terrible grip. I guess for running slow on buffed out trails they work. Nike trail ultrafly looks light at least, but doesn't look like it's trail worthy.
