It’s Rauru. The third eye, the billowy green energy, the forearm decoration, even the teeth. The 3ds remake of oot this picture came from came out over a decade before TOTK, maybe the timeline doesn’t add up, but a little thing like that doesn’t faze the Zelda fan

It cant be Rauru because sure there are some similarities but all I see is a boar like look at his mouth that is not Rauru's mouth and the nose that is a pig snout and also the location why would there be a painting of Rauru here of all places the shadow temple has nothing to do with Rauru the sage/king of light so why would the sage/king of light be in the shadow temple and if don't know shadows are the opposite of light

It's rauru, with his hhabds together. Rauru and Ganon at the pit of despair. Rauru and Ganon, his face skyward. Ganon his face at rest, Rauru his hands sealing.

@@cleveland_brown_skylander in the model of this same picture in the 3DS remake of Majoras Mask, you can clearly see that the hole in the top is a physical eye, not shiekah face painting. Aonuma confirmed Rauru of TOTK was given his name because the role of all Raurus is to guide the hero. This image is in the shadow temple and kakariko well and speaks to Link to guide the path to safety with the sight of Hylia granted to him by the lens of truth. King Rauru reincarnated as sage Rauru and the sage Rauru is the one that lived long ago in the house above the well with the sight of the minds eye, as mentioned by shikashi. He also created the lens of truth because the hero of time would need it to cross the desert and survive the shadow temple.

It's not Rauru because Rauru's Hyrule wasn't the FIRST Hyrule, Hell his Hyrule was founded WELL after OoT and Spirit Tracks Hyrules fell into decay.

So I was looking at this and like does it kinda looks like the Demon Bat from A link to the Past? Like I believe you fall into a well to get into one of his Chambers and the chamber it self look kind a cult like. The Cup/Bowl has red liquid in it too. My theory is that they wanted to expand on him in a form of giving him a real cult and turning that into the Shadow Temple. The picture is a Interpretation of what the Shika thought to be demon that grants power over the Dead.

For BongoBongo (including some things from here that I didn't know before), he is hanging down from above so what I think is that he was executed by beheading but he came back. Composer brothers used the sun song on him, lasting until he was restrained in his cell. After, the remnants of the cult that remained continued to sneak into the shadow temple, constructing the massive bongo in his cell. Then when it was finished, they sawed through his wrists to free his hands. Unfortunately without his head his body revered to its basic instincts (fight to protect itself, and play to raise and empower undead) killing those who were there at the time. The rest of the cult went into hiding. This is the only reason I can think of why his hands are still in the cell. If his hands were cut off during his execution then they would have been separated from the body like his head. Also I've always had the opinion that he wasn't human when he was alive. His size, being a drummer, and that the shadow temple portrait face part having a close resemblance to the ones in the fire temple means that he was actually originally one of the biggoron. I've never thought he was a leader, but more of a creation instead.

What if he was human, a gnarly and very terrific one. It is common that humans will become some other entity in a further life. From Koroks to fairies. Granted both of these are relatively smaller creatures what if their rage is what fuels the power for their next life. For Bongo Bongo he was furious that he was subdue to the tortuous methods that had killed him. A rage that festered. But the Koroks such a peaceful bunch, as if to further prove maybe hate is what gives size.

I always presumed that the comment from Shikashi was referring to the Lens of Truth, which we find inside of the Bottom of the Well.

Bongo Bongo was probably beheaded, and ... be-handed? to prevent him from playing a magic bongo in death. Which obviously didn't stick.

What if it was Bongo Bongo? A boss who had his hands and head severed from his body hung from the ceiling. And wouldn't ya know it this painting is found en route to him. As if to pay homage to who he was. Despite my theory having no viable ground take this to think on. Bongo Bongo has no head only his neck socket and his hands are disconnected. They are still there but a was away from the rest of him. What if the painting isolating these parts is giving a deeper and darker explanation as to what Bongo Bongo really was. More them just a simple boss fight.

Sorry, if using the stanford framework, the hyrule family would be the controlling party, the shieka fell victim because thier abilities and powers supersede the hyrules family and evil minions... That's the real reason for the war...

😂 all these safe routes are cute. It's like you all are the solid clues yet keep the context too ridgid. Just thinking map wise, what makes the underground royal hell hole not go under the castle, I'm not sure if anyone has done the step count, but is plausible they are connected. It's overlooked how framed art works in the zelda universe. Refer to the link between worlds and even in oot, how phantom ganon travels. If you don't get the context clue, do understand the 4 poes of the forrest temple... The hints are around. Now why the hyrule Royal fam would need to put all the art underground then flood the area and turn a man's home to a well, you haven't asked yourself yet. If you still look at the legend as revolving around the hero, you still haven't learned how to see ... But as you quoted... It takes too much mind power for most people to understand, 🤷 I guess things being hidden in plain sight just wasn't a give away via the "mask of truth" ... It's interesting watching you all hold it in your hands and not even know what ur looking at. I mean the man is bongo bongo, why would the royal family want that kind of man around?!?! But the sad part is, he is not the only one... They show you game after game... The way the village gets turned... What game is the village "abandoned" where only one person is left, the same person who's always left to work for the royal family, the same person who goes thru time in another game. The legend is not about link, he's just the guy who goes round stealing tools and has all the action... 😂 It's ok. Your on rails, I'll wait till you figure out the shieka n twili are the same, by then this whole lil Shadow tempo question should explain itself.

What if it's adding insult to injury? What if its a portrait of Bongo Bongo displaying what he "lost" as punishment. We a picture of a demonic, or evil person, which is what Bongo Bongo is. It may not be art it could be a "reminder" to anyone with evil thoughts to say "Hey behave or end up like this guy..."

Looks kind of like the Dark Dragon from Oracle of Seasons, but VERY post mortem. You've got the two eyes, the two fanged teeth, the claws which in the fight you use to lift Link up to its head and slash the gem on it's forehead, seems like there would be a pretty big hole there after the fight was over

Wouldn’t go straight to the Stanford Prison experiment as a point of reference as there were actually a number of issues with the study. Some of the prison guards were led to believe that they were expected to act a certain way, as well as some reports stated Zimbardo gave instructions to be outright mean and degrading to the prisoners. The BBC actually recreated the experiment without the major hiccups and the result was that the prisoners actually rose to power within the experiment. However at the end of the day they are just clinical experiments, so looking and considering the results can be helpful, it shouldn’t be taken as gospel.

Ah, tingle the kefka of zelda. I want Nintendo to create a spin off game were tingle gains the triforce and transforms Hyrule into chaos land. I like the fact you put tingle as chaotic evil. Which makes perfect since considering what he did to brothers in wind waker. 😂 That image repressent the shika's fear of God Emporer Tingle what he pulled at the Shadow Temple. It was quite grusome to say the least. Tingle was thr linch pin for the development of the divine beast brcause one the only god emporer tingle while floating with his baloon and translocate the entire contry into the abys. 😂 Also I do agree... During the civil war the sheka they were kind of cultish. Also what if that image depicts an early depiction of barganner.

We know that totk takes place way after oot because in oot Ganondorf blows up hyrule castle and in its remains is a massive flipping crater filled with magma. As for the temple the theory I like is that it was repurposed by the shiekah for interrogations during the Hyrule Civil War. Originally the temple served as a tomb for the royal family and those who allied with them. Open to the public when ever a monarch or allied died. But since the war it was closed due to events that lead to Bongo Bongo creation. Thus the composer brothers were buried outside the tomb rather with in due to the danger that still lurked in the temple. The paintings were leftovers from the shiekah's time in the temple. Created to scare prisoners into submission or at the very least make them question reality. The paintings that hid an area have a spirt attached and will talk to link and give a hint about the temple.

I do like the ideas connecting the image to TotK Ganondorf or the light dragon. To me, though, the arms look bound, rather than wearing jewelry. Perhaps the image represents darkness being used to hold the darkness back.
