This is video number five in my 102 Tangles of Zentangle playlist. I’m working my way through the Zentangle poster called “102 Tangles of Zentangle” because it introduced me to this art method that I love so much. In today’s video I show you the patterns Evoke and Flukes, which are both great filler patterns.
If you’ve been following this playlist, you’ll know that I wanted to identify the 102 patterns on the poster and I have loved studying them over the last few weeks. I’ve also studied the Zenthology, which is the book given to Certified Zentangle Teachers when they complete their seminar training. It has been wonderful studying both the poster and the Zenthology and practicing the patterns.
If you’re interested in the 102 Tangles of Zentangle poster, you can find it at Zentangle.com
Patterns used:
#Evoke #Flukes
Supplies Used in the video:
A 3.5” Zentangle tile (or any paper of your choice)
Black Micron 01 pen or PN (or your choice of pens and colors)
Graphite pencil
Blending stump
Optional: Colored pens or pencils
Most patterns that I use can be found on the Tangle Patterns website tanglepatterns.com/ or on the Musterquelle website: www.musterquelle.de/ The Musterquelle site is in German, but you can change it to your language as needed.

The evoke as a border looks rather like a lace trim. Love the flukes.

I just found your videos recently and so glad I did. Thank you for your patience in explaining the tangles and the process, which many videos don't!!! I find tangling relaxing and through many errors have even managed to invent my own. LOL! I must say they are the most wonderful and beautiful tangles I have come across!!! Thanks again very much appreciated

Thanks so much for a great tangle! And I sure do appreciate all the TIPS you share (use of paper clip on extending the tortillon tip & using side of graphite pencil to shade). 😊. I’ll be watching more of your videos.

Have to ask. What do you do with your tiles once your finished with them? Sell them? Store for future reference? Do you produce art you sell?
@notperfectzen

That's a good question. I've been drawing daily for over five years and have accumulated a lot of tiles. In the beginning, I found photo album plastic pages and inserted them there. I have glued them on the front of cards to make greeting cards, and I've cut them up to make cards. At the moment, I'm just putting them in boxes, and I go through them to find favorites as ideas for new videos. I have not tried to sell any of them, although I've sold holiday cards to family. Sometimes my granddaughters go through them and find some to color. I don't have great ideas for mine, LOL!

@@notperfectzen was thinking if you find some and put the tiles together, they may make decent hanging art. They look amazing just the tile alone. They’d make a nice collage or abstract piece.

I forgot to mention that I’ve made some tiles into refrigerator magnets. Michael’s has nice 3.5” magnetic frames. If you look in the Christmas playlist, I’ve also made ornaments.

I’ve thought about a collage too. 🥰 I have some of my projects framed and hung on the wall.

Generally speaking, wouldn’t it be more logical to do patterns that aren’t overly popular? It would make you stand out more, I’d think. Just a thought.

For this series, I'm showing the patterns from the 102 Tangles poster. Some are popular, some are not. Mostly, I make videos using patterns that I've enjoyed drawing. I find it's easier to make a video that way.
