Bruh every time i go to limsa lominsa i cringe so hard. They just stay every day 24 hours and looks each other or dancing or whatever. I didnt see that any other mmo, its clearly most degen one :D

Yup. Whenever I log into either game there's always a dedicated group of players. Lion's Arch is always packed with players in GW2 and the faction captials in ESO are also lively.

ESO is such a lost opportunity, I would probably still play it if it didn't have the worst performance in any online game.

I wish they'd go back and make the older parts of the game better. It has the worst new player experience I've ever seen. The entire first two expansions for 120+ hours are less exciting than WoW Mists of Pandaria.

GW2 doesn't really have major problems with the game itself. It's the disastrous launch which most who tried it swore to never play it again including hundreds of big streamers, non existent marketing to bring in new players and lack of community to keep players playing and making groups for harder content. For most it's a game you play "on the side", never a "main game", that's inevitably going to limit it's audience to casual gamers, which has been working OK for it so far, but it's hardcore players who are constantly leaving for other games, who tend to also be the biggest streamers and content creators. The Steam launch and Twitch drops gave it a big boost, but it's not convinced the huge number of MMO gamers sitting on the fence waiting for that next big game to spend all their time in.

@@cattysplat I was there at launch... didnt notice it had a bad start. I had a blast - for about a year, at least... I dont really bother what streamers do or dont do.

@@cattysplat GW2 had great launch the main problem is the piss babies who expected it to be WoW 2.0 with same kind of boring tab target combat system from 1999. Other than that the main problems of the game are the developers and their lack of communication. And then there is the baffling advertising that they do or better yet do not do at all.

Yup. There were huge controversies when they added mount skin loot boxes on the store and when there was that lay-off wave. Also that thing with one of the writers. I just think Zepla doesn't follow GW stuff. 🤣

​@@NemXX2Anet has also been quick to respond to that drama to be fair. They added a buying option for mounts that isn't RNG, the crazy writer lady attacking deroir was fired. Layoffs were still terrible but content continues to be made with the latest SOTO expansion and their plan is to release stuff more frequently. That's yet to be seen, but it provides some optimism at least.

@@radishsam2966 Yeah, i'm glad they sorted their house out. Glad to see the game getting content, but i simply don't enjoy GW2 like i did GW1. I would love if they made a GW3 more like 1.

I've seen people enjoy FF14 that have never enjoyed an anime in their life. The anime aesthetic is only mild at most, and the writing avoids all of the tropey pitfalls that plague anime. If not for the catgirls and the FF brand nobody would even consider it a weeb game.

As an older gamer "boomer" genre compared to the "zoomers", older MMOs absolutely still have plenty of fans, especially the degenerates who try to take over and control these old sandboxes. It's kind of WoW's legacy that it ate up most of their playerbases in the past and never let go.

u dont think gw2 is held back by bad balancing and bad decisions like icebrood saga and eod being considered really bad by a lot of players too ?

Ok I have been trying to tell people this. a bunch of people don't believe me tho. Like during the GW2 anniversary event the kickoff for the event landed on patch 6.2 launch day. this is only one example tho but yeah

@@skeletonwheel5056 Yes, those are legit problems. TBH after Path of Fire they have made really slow progress and made a bunch of out of touch decisions but that's really once you're in end game. Someone new looking in really wouldn't notice all that. They'll be wide eyed with the old content.

@@keitheyer9812 You're the first person I've seen who likes it who will even admit it has problems. My impression so far has been that people like it out of a kind of buyer's remorse reaction. "I bought it... and it's technically free now. Guess I have to play it." and then "I play it, therefore I must like it, therefore it must be good." It's basically "Escort Quest" the game. The combat doesn't feel good or impactful. The world doesn't feel like a real place. The writing is an afterthought; it feels like something a child would come up with while playing with action figures. The skill and subclass system removed everything that made GW1 great. Most of the assets are recycled from GW1.

It also simply doesn't have content creators and many have left or on copium for Ashes. When a game loses it's hardcore playerbase it loses a big social soul.

I would say surviving. More competition from new MMOs will inevitably hit it's playerbase hard.

as a big coh fan, my take is . 1. you probably like character customization. as no other game has gotten close(maybe champions, but no other) 2. you liked the super friendly community(seriously, we were ffxiv before the ffxiv community was) 3. you know what you like and dont need crazy new stuff, the game was great and thats all you need. 4, you like the idea that you vs 15 even con enemies was a fair fight. and loved the pure chaos when a task force/strike force was firing on all cylenders. when 50 enemies were just getting pureed by the brutes and scrappers, the bosses and lts were vanishing to the stalkers, the dominators popped dom so their tier 9s were covering the screen, the mastermind and controllers pets were just tearing stuff apart and the defenders and corrupters were making everyone invincible.and the tanks were hoovering up half the map for the blasters to finish off. coh was like a normal mmo on caffine, its so funny playing healers in ffxiv after the madness that was a nature defender, i was making forests. oh, and you probably have like 70 alts, a quarter of them just being clever pun names, and you love them all.

@@ryanweible9090 Very good. Not quite 70, but yes, there are great pun names like Joan of Spark in there. I also really like the costume contests and filling out a great backstory in my bio section.

@@BKPrice oh yeah, the bios, not everyone, but people made good use out of those bios. It's just text, but it helped make your character yours in a way that my warrior of light will never be. Also mayhem missions. I was mostly blueside, but when my plant/thorns dom hit domination and sent out all her attacks, and the whole street just erupted into a carnivorous jungle, good stuff.

Well.. *MMOs* are a BIG gamble. And they are a lot more risky to do in the *West* as oppose in *Asia/Russia-Regions* Over there they tend to crack something out every Month. It's a bigger market there. Not to mention that unless you have a (proper plan) for monthly fee or Sub. It will backfire and decrease you're chances of Success heavily. Something the West haven't fully learned.

I would still play LOTRO if the cash shop weren't so bad now and more people played or were leveling. I genuinely enjoyed that game, but once it went free to play there was an exodus.

I played runescape for years which is casual friendly. I am playing WoW Wotlk right now. Gonna give FF14 a chance when we down lich king next year. Is FF14 a high recommend for someone who is a big WoW raider?

Tell me you never played GW1 without telling me... Like, you think a 4 button combo in a set build with a choice between ~4 skills is innovation? And, what, because you can move around when you cast on some classes? OOOH, it must be because you can jump. Innovation.

@@ZechsMerquise73 Innovation means new, not necessarily more complicated or more difficult. Maybe GW1 was more difficult but it also played much more like Diablo whereas GW2 plays much more like a platformer action game.

​@@xxJing That's an odd comparison. If you mean it's like Diablo in that you gather up monsters and hit them with AOEs, that's the case in both games. Calling GW2 a platformer sounds even more like you're just saying jumping is the innovation. Like, there were action RPGs way before GW2, even in the MMO genre. It's not an innovation. It's a boring, slow burn running on a game engine the netcode can't handle. It's somewhat insulting to imply that people who don't enjoy it aren't into innovation. IMO, GW2 is a major step back in game design from GW1. It's not about difficulty... you could literally make thousands of different builds compared to about ~120 slight variations on a few core subclasses today. It was freedom. Like, look it up, GW1 was so good that people spent thousands of hours in the tutorial... because of damage, skill, monster, and economy systems that don't exist in GW2. By the way, GW2 is not even running on its own engine as far as I can tell; how's that for innovation? Not saying you can't enjoy it, but come on. It's hardly an innovation. Maybe a horizontal shift.

Yeah and 70% of those are bots like the game feels really dead if you leave the hundreds of bots you will pass by every couple of minutes sadly..

@Bellalands true. Currently playing Lost Ark since Reaper came out. If I'm not hanging out in Punika, 90% of the people I run into in zones are bots. Only see people in Punika and end game content.
