41 blackhawk 4 5/8 is a major favorite of mine. I used it on a mulie when I was younger, practicing on gallon milk jugs and then felt confident. Really accurate.
I’ve never given 41 magnum any thought. I can very much see it’s advantages. But something more powerful than .357 magnum and less so than the 44 magnum, that seems like the perfect balance for a do it all cartridge. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome to have found a fellow 41 magnum fan. My first gun was a Ruger Blackhawk 41mag new model 6.5". I bought it in 1993 and still have it. 41 is a fantastic caliber. Great job! I'll be watching your videos. Thank you
Yeah PlowboysGhost the.41 Magnum is one of my favorite revolver cartridges. I have a Ruger Blackhawk in 6.5 inch barrel. I prefer it over the.44 magnum. Of course, one has to reload to really appreciate the caliber. W296 and AA9 are two fine propellants for that cannon. I enjoy your videos over here in South Carolina, one of your proud Confederate States like Alabama.
Absolutly love the 41 mag. I have 2 of them. A super blackhawk hunter that was a davidsons exclusive also have a s&w 657 with a 6in barrell. Both shoot very well.
I like the way you have a setup where you can sit upright and use a rest and I like that you are using 20 yards (tho I use 25) I do think tho that maybe resting the barrel is not the best way? I use foam blocks with a leather cover and rest my hand(s) on the rest. probly does not matter but it is said that resting on the barrel changes impact. I will try both to check for myself. One thing I do on guns that won't even get on paper or just if my target back has too many holes lol.. is to get real close to get something. Kudos on checking into the chambers vs bore. I do this on every revolver. with my cast and coated bullets I want my chambers to be bore dia or.... a thou or so bigger. And yeah.... I might have a shot or two to settle down a bit. Funny story... bear with me. Taking my buddies girls... both college students and nice girls. I was teaching them and just having fun. because they were nearly new to shooting I did not shoot myself but paid attention to them and what they were doing finally getting them to hit sodas at say 15 feet. they asked me why I wasn't shooting and I flippantly said that I did not have enough beer in me and held out my hand and showed them how shaky it was (fun fake) at the end of the day they said 'are you sure you don't want to shoot?' I held out my now steady (LOL) hand and said 'yeah... I think I have enough beer in me now' Fortunately I had my Colt Python there (which they loved the look of but found too big to enjoy) There was a paint can about 15 yards out and I took a shot... as it jumped up I da'ed a round and hit it... which was EXTREMELY lucky and then just shot the can on the ground 4 more times as it settled... I said "yeah... that was about the right balance of beer" Apparently they told that story at their respective prestigious universities (med student and history student) with.... varied results LOL... I also drive a 74 C10 chevy pickup lowered with 4 different paint jobs showing through and a late model LS computer driveline. I let em drive it not thinking they would be interested... but they posed for pics in front of it. Dont paint all young people with the same brush.
My grandfather was from Sand Mountain, Alabama; I don't think that's real far from you...he born there in 1889..I have one Ruger BH 41 Mag like yours, but I'm thinking of investing in one with a 7.5 inch barrel...
Do they make one with a 7.5" barrel? I thought the .357 mag and .41 Blackhawks could only be had with 4 5/8", 5.5", or 6.5" barrels. I too would like one with a 7.5" barrel.
Sure is swell to see that Blackhawk in action! It's been windy of late in southeastern PA, what with the intense rainstorms this week. Nothing wrong with rain, I just wish we got some snow out of the deal. Naught but flurries this year.
Predicting -8°F and 13 mph NW wind where I'm at, in less than 24 hours. Enjoy that balmy weather where you're at. 😄 I'd be checking cylinder gap, checking chamber throat diameters, slugging the bore to see where it's at (and see if there's any taper), and if you can afford it or find someone who has one, put a nice 11° ream into that forcing cone. Going on from there, a better cylinder pin helps.
Hey plowboy i love your videos and passion for the SAs. I’m about to buy my first SA and was wondering if u had a video going over the frontier from Cimarron.
Yep. The '85 was the year it went to a rear suspended 250. My first one was an '84 back in 1983 ...and it was a three month old cherry 200 in December.
@@plowboysghost he has it in November but I had already picked up a ria 1911 10mm so guess I will have to save a little and keep watching have a good weekend and the wind is a blowing here in Michigan and snowing
if you are in need of some 45LC brass. brownells has bags of 100 starline for barely 6 starbucks. two bags showed up today. also topped up primers from midway and bass pro by 5k. just need to order some projectiles for 44 and 45 to see me thru the crazy 2024s and 25s. even though i have 7 calibers i load for, if a 41 hits my LGS, i guess i'll have to buy one.
Really enjoy your videos, like your new 41 mag.ruger.i have a 44mag ruger super Blackhawk in 4 5/8 barrel. Stainless. Shoots excellent. Only complaint is rear sight doesn't go low enough for heavy 300# grs.bullets.
Thank you . I'm about to look into those 2Dogs sights that Ronnie Wells and Fermin Garza are putting out for Rugers. You can get different sight heights that may cure your issue.
Kinda curious. Mist right hand folks pull left. Myself as well. So my rear sights are all to the right. I find using the tip pad of my trigger finger helps alot. I'm liking the videos .
Great Video PlowBoy!! Man we’ve had the wind’s lately. I’m getting out of here on Sunday before that white stuff hits the ground. At least those Alabama Grizzlies should be in their holes with it that cold anyway.
@@plowboysghost I just made it home. Interstates were good, and most of the State road was too, but the County Roads was a bit sketchy. Especially in the shaded parts with hills and curves.
Man it's always windy in Oklahoma. I am thinking about changing my rear sight to a white outlined from wells he has some nice designs and you can get several different widths. I have a flattop 44 special. Did you paint your front sight?
What’s the humidity like there? I have kept my blued guns loaded and just after three weeks, the dang chamber rusted a little with those brass rounds in it. Suppose it was the oil from my fingers on the brass that did the rusting. I now don’t leave any rounds in the chamber or if I do, I pull them out and oil the chambers lightly every couple weeks with Ballistol. How often do you oil your guns? Specifically the chamber. I wipe them down often. These are blued Ruger Vaqueros I’m talking about, really prefer my polished stainless Rugers more for this reason.
I rarely oil the chambers and I keep mine loaded. Alabama can have humidity like breathe a wall of soup in the Summer. I wipe down the outside of my blued guns at the end of either every day I carry them or every other day I carry them...and I have no rusting issues. I use Rem Oil and Lucas Red or Blue.
2 vids in one day .... my lucky day .... don't you know that to sight a gun in you gota throw a quarter in the air and adjust the sights till you can hit it ...... haha
Howdy neighbor. Yea it's been windy for days here in NW Alabama and all over the southeast. I heard this chick I watch sometimes on RU-vid that lives down in the Florida panhandle say yesterday they've had same wind and tornadoes too. Heck we're used to weird and random weather here though as you know but all this prolonged high wind is pretty odd even for here. Oh well we can't do anything but adapt or stay in the house and I really don't want to shoot inside my home haha. Anyway, good shootin' sir. Appreciate the footage of that nice six shooter in a not often seen caliber. Now just waitin' on your other grips to see what it looks like then. It's gonna look sweet I bet. Ok then talk to you again soon neighbor! 🐍🇺🇸 P.S. I know ol David that has the Alabama Super Pawns around us and my cousin started helping down at the Haleyville shop. Her daddy which is my uncle Larry helps him part time when they get to needing help or a big sale. Next time you go by there you'll have to aggravate her and tell her say her big cuz Dustin conjured you into it haha. Keep your powder dry and corks tight and have a good night!
@plowboysghost I have a 6.5 41mag blackhawk on the way. I also own a 8-3/8 model 57. I really like the 41mag. I think it would have been more popular if they produced a 41 special.
I’m working with a Smith 69 quite a bit these days. It would make a dandy gun if chambered in .41 mag. My only .41 is a three screw Ruger Blackhawk that Hamilton Bowen converted from.357 to.41 mag. Handy but awful light for a .41
