Thanks for your input on this kayak - was able to paddle one on the Main Payette when I went out there for a class with cascade this year. I’m use to a small Zen as my big water boat.
I really like the cross, it is a very fun boat! You should try the five, the cross is bigger and probably and my size but I weigh 195 and I liked the five a bit more. They both boof like a champ! The five is narrower but doesn’t feel like it is super narrow. Thanks for another epic review!
I appreciate your perspective. Glad you gave it a whirl. I think some more gradient would have been beneficial to your impression. I saw you got a little taste in a few spots. Hope you can get in a chili when they get here.
Yeah I actually got more runs in it before giving it back and it does love steeper stuff I agree just like my first paddle it’s got that eddy out turn and burn abilities nailed it’s hits boofs like a champ at almost no speed which is a great thing to have with a lot of these tight southeast style runs
Enjoyed this review of the Cross, seems a decent boat overall. I`m hoping Wade you`ll get hold of an EXO T-Rex creeker soon as I bought one a while back but have not used it yet as I`m shielding. I`ve heard really good reviews, but one from you would be awesome as you paddle some terrific water there in the SW, rivers that show up deficiencies very quickly.....not that I think the T-Rex would disappoint! Thanks man for all your excellent content.
@@WadeHarrison Sorry Wade I`m in the UK so don`t know if they are available in the SE of the USA. They are made in Italy & have been sold here for some time, so I would imagine they must have reached you guy`s by now. I`d love to send you mine but can you imagine what the shipping costs would be!!
You saying about the boat wanting to have its own direction on the plane; I found the same thing with the Zet Five. I found changing the seat position forward was really important to how it operated on the plane.
Yeah I got more runs in it before I had to give it back and yeah seat position is a key thing in a boat like this but after few more runs it’s seriously just dialing in the flat hull and aggressive mid line edges once you find it that thing eddies out and turns and burns on boofs like a champ which is a really good thing to have on a lot of these southeast style runs that are tight and technical with no leadin to a lot of the drops
I've got this boat, just starte kayaking so please forgive my lack of knowledge and I know boats can just spin when you're a beginner but would putting my seat forward help with this or is what you're saying above something compeletely different?
@@unavoided thanks for asking. Difficult to say without seeing you paddle. What Wade and I were discussing was the idea that the tail of the boat especially got quite loose when it was up to planing speed (i.e. carrying downriver momentum more than just paddling forward), making the boat skate around unpredictably. But you might find that adjusting yourself to a more aggressively forward-driven seating position could reduce your likelihood of spinning out. Could be worth testing!

Hi ! were is the best seat position in this boat? look your seat is quit back? i tryed the cross today but a the moment its not my best friend :-) eddys that i got easy i dont get it today grrr
