ZET Kayaks FIVE "On Water Review" www.zetkayak.com/store/produc... Thanks for Watching! #zetkayaks #zetkayaksfive #kayak #whitewaterkayaking #kayakreviews
Love the reviews ! I’m right at 205 / 6’2 - been wanting to try a medium boat but that’s borderline for me from what I’ve read. Might try a couple this season - Thanks for all the videos man!
Nice review, Wade! You said exactly what I have been saying about the boat. I love paddling it every day (I switched from an Alpha 75) but I really need to stay aggressive and keep on top of it or it spins out.
Thanks for watching. And I also paddled the alpha 75 for a bit and I think you made a good decision this boat so different but in a good way. But if it’s steep mank I want that alpha
Thanks for the review. After demo-ing a Five in 2019 and watching your review I have just bought a new Five and waiting to get on the water soon. There seems to be a discrepancy about the weight range you have mentioned. In the UK the Five (exactly the same spec boat) has a suggested weight limit of 90kgs/200lbs. This is in keeping with the Zet Raptor-also a 300 litre boat-and other similar size boats on the market such as the 9R for example. Not sure why Zet US claim a different figure of 75kg when most small boats with less than 300 litres can manage this weight. This would suggest that far from you being a bit too heavy, you’re actually a good weight for the boat, even when adding the normal 10lbs+ weight of gear we all wear, plus a paddle. So no need to lose 15lbs, Wade, to be a good weight and therefore why not make this your go-to boat like you mention towards the end. Thanks again.
I watched the cross review again, you didn't have a hand hold cause the bulkhead was all the way back. If you bumped it forward one hole and adjusted the seat to pin you in tight, you would have a spot for carrying and the speed would increase. You don't need to backdoor these boats, the hull shape already let's you spin on a dime, stay forward with the seat and get that planning hull just as flat as you can through the water.
The sizing on the ZET cross and Five are off I’m like small for the Cross and big for the five I liked the speed of the five but it would not be a boat I would paddle the Scorch is sized perfect and paddles like a dream so to answer your question the Pyranha Scorch
Looks like a sick whip! Did you prefer this one or the cross more? I'm about the same weight as you and ended up getting a cross, coming from a phantom.
I'd say it all depends on what you are looking for. The cross has more volume and is a touch wider, so bigger water or steeper gradient it will take care of you. If you just want your hair on fire, the five is the same shape just narrowed with a little less ass. I think the cross is really comparable speed wise, it just is really touchy with the trim. A 1/4" forward of dead center unlocked both the edges and all the hull speed for me in my cross.
@@andrewnau433 had my cross since late October and still haven’t found the sweet spot. Seat was quite far forward when I first got it but have moved it back to central position. Hoping this might help engage edges as I’ve been missing some eddies and tracking on past catching Eddie lines. Also haven’t quite found complete comfort with thigh braces yet. 🤨
@@markmcguire7922 I kept wanting to go further back also. In the end I found it wants some wieght on the bow, little strange but you end up pushing so much less water that speed increases. The edges are softer so you just need to be aggressive. Mean it when you do anything in the cross/five and the boat will give you what you ask. They aren't just a big tub floating down, they are performance boats that need to be rode hard and put away wet. When you do that they call you the next day for another lap 😍
If your my weight I would say for sure the cross not that can’t paddle the Five I just feel being heavier in the five on big water would not be ideal but the cross I feel could go anywhere so I’m the long run you would hav wish you got the bigger boat
