I noticed a long time ago that certain people like to run Stallone down. Dumb old bag of rocks sort of thing, can't act, you've heard it. So I thought about it a little and asked myself Stallone can make so many very successful movies and has written a lot of them. How can anyone do this over and over and not be skilled or gifted? How many try and succeed once but can't really do it again? How many never manage to really get there, even though they are gifted and determined? Stallone's success surely proves he knows a few things about making good movies that people enjoy watching. Imagine if Hillary watched Stallone movies, she would have seen the Expendables and never made her Deplorables quip.
@@studley2436I have met a known a few people who think this way about Sly, my uncle being one of them. Also noticed if you tell people you’re a fan of him many people seem to roll their eyes. What you will find though is often these people are the complete opposite of him. They usually are along, never lifted a weight or been to the gym or considered themselves intellectuals but the more you speak to them the more basic they seem. Who cares about the haters anyway. A lot of people think you can’t be muscular and fit and be intelligent also: don’t know why so many idiots still think this way. It could also be jealousy. Let’s be honest, people don’t really look in this sort of shape, or even 20 years younger than they really are at almost 80’years old. I know this is from 2008 during Rambo 4 era. But next time you come across someone who is negative about them, I bet you they haven’t had a particularly difficult or challenging life, they don’t workout or they are a runner/cardio person. Something that is the complete opposite of him. Everything he embodies clearly makes them uncomfortable and judgemental of him.
I hope that the world at large recognizes Stallone as the great man that he is. Hell, the story behind Rocky and the struggles he endured to make that film is enough to warrant it so.
I like him as a man and for his better work yet he has been in many mediocre productions which glamorize violence and push puerile political standpoints such as the Rambo films and many others so I feel that this has to be factored into the equation.
AsI said I like him as a person and admire his will power and his better work. I also happen to know the staff of the school he attended in Switzerland which gives an interesting perspective on his early years.
Steve Morse I don’t think he glamorizes it, there is typically a reason for violence in his movies. Most movies have elements of human behavior that one would consider dark - be it violence, greed, betrayal, etc,. To portray it on screen isn’t necessarily an endorsement or a glamorization of it.
The man is truly a genius of his craft so talented and creative, for me personally he's a beacon of inspiration and i think that this is one of the many reason Sly Stallone will be remember for many generations, he motivates those who truly wish to learn the craft of bodybuilding/ philosophy and the many layers of fine arts.

I love watching Stallone's interviews, as I fan it's great to see one of your favorite actors appear so articulate and humble, which is such a contrast from how some people may view him simply because of his action films.

As a fairly new screenplay writer, its clear to me that one of my major hurdles and learning curves I have to earnestly work on is : character development. So a friend of mine gave me the DVD "Home Front" which Sly wrote (2013) starring Jason Statham. Oh my Lord. I watched it 3 times with the first viewing acknowledging here just how good JS can pull off a tender dramatic role alongside his martial arts blended in ... the second time I clocked it for scene changes to follow the cuts and the arc of the story ... and the third time I was blown away at the pure depth and seamless overlay he built up - each time a familiar character popped back into a scene. Like peeling away at an onion, little by little, Stallone reels you in at a comfortable but magnetic pace. He is the master at anticipation. Beginning to end. Crafting good stories like that is not easy. And for Stallone who's been at this long time, well. Age is surely on his side. The older he gets, the better he becomes. Great story teller, great writer.
Fantastic video . As a fan for the last 35 years ,this is something that is so special and an absolute joy to watch. So many people think of Sly as a bumbling actor but only us real fans know how great this guy is . Writer , director actor....the guy started with nothing and has achieved greatness by sheer perseverance and has moved with the times over the years . He is a true legend of the movie world and if he ever taught life lessons from his own experiences then I would buy a front row ticket 🙂👍👏👏👏
Stallone comes across as a very smart, articulate intelligent man, he's extremely bright , and his knowledge and general enthusiasm for film and life motivation is inspiring , from being a struggling actor in the early 1970s and virtually penniless with a wife and a child on the way, he wrote and starred in the classic Oscar winning boxing drama ROCKY.........and the rest is History as they say..

Sly, I always loved Poe & could not understand why you could never get it off the ground. Poe is an American icon. One of the greats. Always wanted to see you get this project off the ground, not with you starring necessarily, but with a more appropriate actor who looks the part and is closer to Edgar's age when he passed on.

I think it's the Roles we see him in that u wud think he's punchy but like James Cameron they were dirt poor writing there project that they didn't fold when they said No to starring in Rocky and No to Cameron to directing The Terminator
It’s bizarre that people think this. I always assumed he was acting in rocky. You know, because he’s an actor? There are countless interviews with him right from when rocky came out in 76. He’s always well spoken and articulate. This idea that you can’t be in shape and intelligent needs to die. It’s such a stupid thought process. Where the hell did it even come from.
I Agree with Stallone about coming in with all lines memorized, cant believe actors are still coming in on the day not prepared, but I dont agree with the over rehersal that should be for blocking purposes only, not for performance, that should done fresh and live at that moment, and not pre planned, just work off your other actor and let things happen natrually.
