Rocky was the only movie I ever saw that not only got applause but a standing ovation. I was born in South Philly. People come from all over the world to run up the museum steps. Many do it because they too over came long odds to make it in life. They were able to get up after being punched by life.

The mark of a big hearted man...he just does and lifts others out of the gutter and puts himself last...and just gets on with life...Always trying to be a better human being...God bless you Sly !
What really is inspiring, of ' ' Sylvester Stalone is, that he is realist, and keep on fighting, not just, up to a certain point! This is the kind of attitude, we / we - us Americans need again!
@@matttholl6004 Yeah, you might think my admiration of Sly Stallone is lame or cringeworthy. But unless you grew up in the 70s (I'm assuming you're much younger than me), you fail to understand the impact this movie had, especially on that generation. For example, you just didn't see everyday people out running around to get fit and/improve their mental health (BTW the term "mental health" wasn't even in our dialogue back then). And leading into the 80s, with the introduction of the Walkman - and then the Sports Walkman which didn't wow and flutter (you might have to look up those terms) as you ran, more and more people took to the streets - like Rocky - earbuds (yes! connected with a wire to their cassettes) providing the musical inspiration to keep running. So many of my friends ran listening to that Rocky soundtrack scored by Bill Conti. The movie broke new ground. It used new technologies (the handheld recording camera - an Aussie invention mate! etc). It did provide inspiration to so many. If you've read this far, in short, you need to do your homework before flippantly using your emojis.
Like him and watched his movies, even the last two where he was 20 yrs too old to be an action hero, but he took too much juice which has made him look kinda weird. Ditto with his facial surgeries. Chuck Norris knew when to quit and only did a fun cameo for his final role 12 yrs ago. In Expendables2. semper Fi🇺🇸
This was beautiful. A message of hope, perseverance, determination and sheer will should be seen by anyone thinking their life isn't worth something. I have so much respect for Sly, he's truly one of Hollywood's better role models.
I just love him. I think he's such an amazing person, he has such a big heart, I seen that in him with his very first movie, and I still see it in his eyes today. May God bless you Sylvester Stallone, stay humble 🙏❤
In an Stallone interview many years ago he said something to the effect of make your job something that you would do for nothing, while working at a printing place, I would spend hours designing, repairing, building while hating my job. I’ve been a mechanic now nearly 40 years working on anything from cell phones to very large hydraulic systems, I never got rich but I like who I am. Thanks SLY.
All is true ,I`m similar ,Love learning new technologies ,But fact remains ,when reality hit me in the face .We need money to stay successful for our self`s and family.what I did reevaluated what I did with my time. A honest person will pay you Fairly. So I only work for honest people.
Iv believed in stallone since the age of 14 I'm 57 now and his advice and ideology has helped me through life I'm ex military AND ex emergency services Listen to this guys theories It helps
I first saw ROCKY on a huge cinema screen in 1977 (when I was 14 and growing up as a kid in Singapore), and it was the single most powerful inspiration for me to eventually start a lifelong career in Martial Arts, a passion which continues for me today, and one which I have since shared with 100's of students worldwide. I also had the privilege of teaching as a Sports Professor at the Leysin American School (the same one where you taught gymnastics in Leysin, Switzerland), where the School Director Christopher Ott told me personally the story of how you decided there to become an actor. Thankyou Mr. Stallone for all that you have done (and continue to do) to inspire, move, motivate and encourage all people of all cultures worldwide to never back down, and when you do get knocked down, get back up and always follow what is in your heart. Your timeless cinematic classics are an inspiration to all filmmakers and actors alike, and your work makes this upside-down backwards and often cruel indifferent World still seem worth living in.....Thankyou!

@@tonicardanini1863 Me too, everytime there was a reference or whatever regarding Rocky...i reminded myself "Bruv, he just acted the thing, whoever wrote it tho.."
No .. he really is a Global icon!!! Do you realize that his films were screened in more "skunk and 2nd and 3rd world countries“ than any other super movies ever had! In most African schools his movies were screened as motivation for poor kids to uplift their spirits. And it worked!!!
What a marvelous Life Story. Thank you Mr. Stallone for NOT giving up. May you be an Inspiration and a Financial Catalyst for a new generation of creative people who are yet another "Rocky" in the wings.
Sylvester Stallone has always been my hero. I am currently 52 years old and Sylvester Stallone is still my hero. Mr Stallone, thank you, for being you and sharing part of yourself with the world. I am so happy I have had a chance to know of you through entertainment. I am certainly a big fan of your accomplishments. I have a wish to meet you in person some day. If we never meet, I would like you to know, you have through your craft, inspired me my whole life. I wish you the best in everything you do.
In Life you can never give up, God is always by your side, you have to keep going, God bless all going thru things, never give up, Great Peach Sylvester. ❤❤❤
I saw Rocky the first week it was out in Westwood, Ca. It was its premier week. During the fight scenes men were standing up and cheering. Like it was a real boxing match. I had never seen anything like that before. I went back and saw Rocky 3 more times in the next two weeks. Same thing. The audience was going nuts during every showing. I knew then, at the age of 26, I had witnessed something very special. I've been a fan of Sylvester Stallone ever since.
Best Motivational Speech I have heard in a while after the loosing my elder brother. May his soul rest in peace. I promise to keep pushing your dreams and aspiration till its time for me to go. I love you big brother R.I.P.
I'm sure he's extremely proud. Keep living with this mindset and one day you'll be reunited and he'll tell you how proud he is. God bless you and your brother.
Walking out of the picture theatre with friends or family throwing punches. It was truly an inspirational and emotional movie. Thanks, Sylvester Stallone.
Last time I was in Philly, I purposefully walked 4 miles to the museum of art to see the statue that is still on display outside of the steps where this was filmed, because it is that motivating to dare to dream and to never give up on yourself, no matter how much it hurts to take the blows
Sylvester Stallone - Truly an inspiration and one of my favorite...life heroes. 👏🏻👊🏻💪🏻❤🙏🏻🙌🏻 Truthful, humble, respectful, real, has the heart of a champion that speaks to everyone... an honorable man of integrity. Great story.
Saw Rocky as a young boy dealing with a dying mother. I was angry and troubled. That movie changed the way I looked at my situation in life. I turned my anger into becoming the best I could be in sports. My life has been filled with challenges but something deep inside, said do not give up, you got this. I now have achieved so much more because God gave me the inner strength and you who touched me when I needed it. Thank you
Believe in yourselves! Because you are the ones making it happen! I choose NOT to give up and so far have lived 15 years beyond the Doctor’s expectations! During this 20 year ordeal I have met many who have “Left it in Gods hands” pass on. Whatever you believe, take an active part in your recovery! Life holds no guarantees.
This is a wonderful story told by Sylvester Stallone. I give him so much credit. He is my favorite actor, and he is a true inspiration to all. He never quits, never gives up. And has always shown that in his movies, but more importantly in his real life. Thank you for posting this fantastic vid. Peace
@@bobwild9995 you said it Brother and he changed my life as well--I got married had 3 girls and became an amazing Chef then LIFE knocked me down so hard I fell into a bottle-after 23 years sober today I lost everything but I am the Hero I made myself out to be and very happy today~ TY Sly Bless you man.
Completely true. Well known, successful actors, no matter their acting skill, could not have played the part of an unknown underdog as well as an unknown underdog.
A good day, very impressed by Mr. Stallone! Never knew much about him other than his good movies. Interesting how he was talking about helping people. Up till I was 40 would shovel, dig pick, swing, sledgehammers, etc. 16 hours a day on the average. In the hot desert of Tucson Arizona. And always would pride myself on the ability to be able to pick somebody up out of a burning building and carry them out over my shoulder. And I was only 165 pounds and five 7 1/2 feet tall. At 68 years old, have a slight disability from a stroke. Have to work till the day I die. Still can dig and shovel for hours without breaking a sweat. As well as split firewood by hand. A little gimpy on one leg. However, so grateful because maybe someday it will heal entirely, and I can still go in that burning building and save somebody’s life! What a great inspiration this man is! What a beautiful person! Thank you for this! Stay well have a. Beautiful day!👍🙏
Hey so sorry if I misled anyone. I was an independent contractor. However, throughout life have extinguished hundreds of fires that few people would know about and probably have saved lots of lives, whether it be human or animal. Had some fire training as a young man, and so forth as well. But was never a professional, fire, fighter, per se. It would be an honor.👍🙏
Thankyou mr. Stallone for sharing this of you. Love your movies by the way. Didn’t know a lot of this about you. You’re a good man and inspiration. God bless you always.
Life is a process of Growth and we need to learn our lessons and as we grow in Love and Compassion we go on to more growth and understanding and we will go on and advance to be more understanding of what is important to become more Happier! PEACE AND LOVE TO ALL ❤❤❤
This was a great self-reflecting inspirational speech on overcoming adversity and becoming a success while making your dreams come true. (Way to go Sly)
Im 60 yrs old, flat broke, fighting cancer ( naturally) no insurance, work truck is broken, and in debt.. Ive written a song that needs to be published asap.. please pray I can get it out there... It will be a huge hit.thanks
In ROCKY,at the end ,when Adrian finally gets to him and hugs him, with his face all battered up,and saying "I love you",and then the picture freezes. You gotta love it.A man who just realized a dream,he has his girl, and is on top of the world after so much struggle. You just knew, just knew,it was the beginning of something great.Spanned 30 years. And the final movie was the best.
Bravo, the most gratifying speech I have ever heard. I am 81 and am a big fan of Mr. Stallone and all his "Rocky" movies. Every time I watch them, I am lifted. This item has given me such an uplift that I will be contacting my grandson in California and advising him to watch it. Truly a confidence builder. Thank you.
Sylvester Stallone, thanks a million!!! Wow this was very clear ,blunt, and Powerfull!!! And i mean it!!! You never gave up, you never backed down, and you kept pushing harder and harder even if it hurt. When anyone really believes in them self like you did, anything can be yours. If this message of your hard up bringing and strugles you went through cant inspire others that are going through something similar then i dont know what the hell will!!! I remember going to the theater to see you in the first Rocky show back in 1975 and i was with my old brother because i was only 7 and under aged, but wow what a great show. Almost every one in that theater had clinched fists the whole way through it, some even cried thats how touching it was to many viewers . All your movies you wrote and played in are real real good!!! I love Rambo last blood. I even like your arm wrestling movie, Over The Top. Many people in the billions are gonna miss you a lot when your gone, but thats for a different day. Keep up your good work, people need some one like you to give them that spark, that kick start, thatgood verbal punch in the head to get them moving in the right direction in life before its to dam late, and life just passes them by waving at them saying by ,by, little chicken ,by, by, !!! 🤔🧐👍👍😇😇😇😎😎🍿🥤💪👏👏🥊🥊
Awesome testimony Mr.Stallone, the only thing I heard you say was at the end of this beautiful story…you said,”if you could go through life never being humbled, that would be a great epitaph in life!” Being humbled is not a shameful thing Mr. Stallone it’s a good thing and it strengthens and builds character for hope and endless possibilities in life.Your a good man and I love all of your work. Thank you for sharing this inspirational story.
One of the most enlightening interviews I have ever seen. Being an author add a script writer myself,, there should be more people like this to inspire people to write inspiring things and make the world a better place.
I haven't felt this inspired in a very, VERY LONG TIME! Reminds me of what a Sociology professor said to me once, in general, I believe most of it to be BS, but he said he was contemplating a question one day, what was failure, what was the opposite of it. Was failure, the opposite of success. He said another man walks up to him and say, just out of now where, "You know what, the opposite of success isn't failure, it's conformance, you know, it's giving up". Rocky has reminded me of that to be absolutely true.
No matter what our Nation is going through never forget that “GOD” is with us through the Storms. Praise the Lord from whom ALL Blessings flow 👑🙏🏼🎚🕊❤️⚔️🛡🇺🇸❤️🇮🇱
Seeing Rocky the first time brought me to my feet, brought me to tears, had me praying for him and made me return to see it twice more that same week. I haven't seen a more motivational film ever. Thank you for this motivational film and for telling this beautiful story of how it came about. ❤
You are the uplifting man, to most in this world! Everyone knows of you! Thank you, for lifes lesson! Such truthful insight! We, I, appericate you, and all the joy you have given us. Again, Thank You! For being a real individual!
I love this story. When I left for the Marine Corps, I was laughed at. I weighed 120 lbs soaking wet. And had always been told You can't do that over ever dream I had. So I knew if I could make it through USMC boot camp, nothing could say those words to me again. And God gave me every dream. Adventure even became a nickname.
I was in Parris Island back in 72. Initially I thought I made a big mistake but no way out of it now. Each day was harder than the day before it and I never knew when it would end. Time dilated and the days kept getting longer. I never knew what was ahead of me. The resolve to overcome all of my weaknesses, both mental and physical grew. I lifted weights and exercised my self into oblivion in my free time in the room overlooking the parade deck. It became apparent that I was no longer a human but a force, a force to be dealt with. An unstoppable overwhelming force and the realization hit me that I was going to graduate regardless of the circumstances. One of my DI's actually started fearing me and after graduation formation and ceremonies, I sought him out and he disappeared. I went home on leave before my next duty station and couldn't get used to being at home and with friends and family. I reported to my next duty station where I carried on in the physical manner and became in charge of PT of the platoon. I got into boxing and other fighting arts and remained undefeated. Most of my buddies tried to talk me into going pro but that wasn't my lifes choice. When I watch Rocky and Rambo, I see a little bit of myself in those characters. I agree with Sly in a lot of his philosophy. My philosophy of today is guided by Jesus Christ and so it will remain for the rest of my days. He has kept me alive through numerous life threatening situations. Semper Fidelis Brother Marine ! A friend always !
No one else could ever be Rocky. No one! Do you know how much you mean to so many people, how many people you have inspired, how special your life has been? Thank you. So much!
