​@@Drazhoath1 Probably not really. Herodotus named the royal guard unit that. Which was permanently maintained at a strength of 10,000 men, though that was also the size of Persian units/divisions in general. But as far as anyone can tell they were probably just called something like "companions" or possibly "apple-bearers" (I think from a decorative pommel on their spears). As far as the always exactly 10,000 men thing goes, that's probably just that unit always being maintained at full strength whereas other units would be raised and formed on more of an ad-hoc basis. Later Byzantine writers again used the name to refer to the household cavalry of the later Sassanid Persian empire, which they also claim was 10,000 strong, though again as far as we're aware the this was not a name or allusion used by the Persians. Then later on an actual Byzantine unit of 10,000 was known by that name and probbly used it since themselves, since they were actually drawing upon the literary tradition that had invented the name.

Yeah, and while not visible in-game, Grimgor's Immortulz have skull masks painted on their helms. Which you can see are inspired by the skull faced helms of the Chaos Dwarf Immortals.

And, this is probably obvious, but since the Chorfs are heavily inspired by ancient middle eastern cultures and Perzian especially, the Immortals is where that came from.

That actually makes sense with the lore. The armour on K'daai is not meant to protect them from attacks, it's to keep them bound. K'daai burn so hot they melt any physical form they're bound to, including their metal bodies (any K'daai active long enough will eventually die even if nobody attacks it). As such that kind of metal shouldn't offer that much protection.

Its probably been balanced around Demonsmiths, a 0.8%hp/sec heal with high armor would just make it nearly unkillable in some situations.

Will that help them against 500 ap damage artillery? Dont think so.

All of their "fire resistant units" only amount to Imrik, Tyrion, Dragon Princes and Pheonixes. 2 out of those deal fire dmg themselves and run into the CDs own fire resistance, while the Dragon Princes won't trade well with their low ap values. Sisters of Avelorn also deal fire dmg, so they won't do alot either.

Yeah, the Chaos Dwarfs really do seem to be a faction with poor low cost infantry but valuable high cost units. Which makes sense with their lore.

Look pretty OP to me. None of Turin's main pieces died. The only unit that gave him trouble at all was Grimgor.

@@brianlevor6295 As long as you focus fire on the strong units with decent armor piercing units, the Chaos Dwarfs don't really have an answer for it. The issue with Grimgor's army was that it was stretched thin and had too few elite units to deal with the Chaos Dwarf elites.

Rusty arrows would have gone a long way in that fight. Also Big Uns for anti-large against the constructs

Apparently there is also "the vial of hashut" item giving another 60% fire weakness for 50s on a single unit.

Ogres and Kairos faction have fire. And thee undead are not sweating them. plus they will get changes as well.

The dwarf infantry is extremely tanky though so you can use them to hold them.

Not really. I would argue that chdorfs infantry is even outright better than vanilla dwarfs with their damage output potential with fire weakness.

@@muaddoubledips I think he's talking about the chaff. Proper Chorfs are good, but expensive. Their orcs and goblins wouldn't be able to hold a point on their own.

@@screamingcactus1753 After seeing more gameplay I think CA did a great job with the balancing. Many of CHdorf units are stupid good on paper but not that bad in execution.

It is kinda crazy that the destroyer only has 90 armor when Astragoth has 130 fucking armor lol. As if astragoth was the one completely made of armor instead of the dwarf on stilts he is. Still got a squishy chest and face at least. Even if his legs and right arm is made of stone.

The armor probably isn't very thick. It'd make sense that they wouldn't be able to make the armor for something that big too heavy without massively weighing it down

Pretty sure multiple factions have a .8% heal and it’s only on the constructs anyways. Still definitely good though!!

Is "You" in this case Turin, and "new stuff" the Chaos Dwarfs? If so, the answer is that he is given early access because CA believes it will help promote the product to potential customers.

Probably people like Turin get early access to basically advise for the DLC

Nah, the GS army was just bad, they didn't even have a caster. Trolls vs an army that pretty much has fire attacks across the board? Nah. Plus he brought a bunch of anti-infantry stuff. The GS player also should have sat back and let his lobbers wear down the immortals instead of charging forward.
