Zihuatanejo Mexico more commonly referred to as Zihua is a beautiful fishing village/beach town located in the state of Guerrero Mexico on the Pacific Ocean. You may see the name Ixtapa Zihuatanejo - which refers to the two neighboring towns, Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo but in this Mexico travel vlog we are just going to be focusing on Zihuatanejo.

SUGGESTION: In Zihua, if you go past Las Gatas and past the lighthouse towards Barra De Potosí. You can catch Dorado (MahiMahi) and I caught 3. Also, during the proper season, next to the lighthouse there is a small chance to catch a Rooster Fish. That fish is giant. As tall as me when I was 7.

This is paul.... and Gloria in Oaxaca. We watched it together & Gloria said we've got to go there. I have been meaning to take her to Zihuatanejo because I had such a good time there in the early 70s. Now, after seeing your video, she really wants to go. In 1974 I hitched a boat ride from Selena Cruz, Oaxaca to Zihuatanejo bay. It took two days. Once there , we grabbed a water taxi and it took us to town. From there, a taxi driver took us to Bungalow Pacificos, where we stayed for a week. It was $16 a night. It was a deal even then. As you can imagine, Zihuatanejo wasn't as built up 50 years ago, but it's still looks amazing and Ixtapa wasn't even there yet. It was just a plan that the government was talking about. I first went there in 1970. On Tuesday we're flying to Costa Rica for 2 weeks. It's just work. Matter of fact we can't wait to get back to Mexico.

Too hot! Mexican beach cities are too hot all year round! Checked out Zihua after seeing the Shawshank Redemption. Too hot! I vowed I would never live where I need air conditioning. So, I moved to Patzcuaro, Michoacan. Pretty Spanish Colonial. Pueblos Magico! 7,000 feet in the central Transvolcanic Mountain range. Pine Oak forests. Perfect climate! Cheap to live! I love it!

Love how you guys are describing my beloved home country pacific coast, you guys are hitting my fave spots to vacation, those are the beaches where I went on vacay as a kid and now I'm taking my young family to them. Don't miss the opportunity to continue north on the pacific and stop by Playa Troncones, Maruata, Sayulita, Manzanillo, Costa Careyes, Vallarta, Nuevo Vallarta, Mazatlan, San Carlos, y San Felipe Baja.

Many memories from Zihuatanejo, but I hope you visit Ixtapa, I went there in 1997 when I graduated from high school with all my friends, amazing hidden gem, i'm really surprise foreign tourist dont have Zihua in their radar, it is like Acapulco and Puerto Escondido combination.

Beautiful place! Loved the vlog.Shawshank is my FAVORITE movie and I have the last couple of scenes memorized when Red finds the money Andy left him and leaves on the bus full of expectations and the nervous thrill of the unknown "that only a free man can know".I play that scene very often.It makes me hopeful when Red arrives, walks down the beach, and he and Andy see each other!!!! 🥲

I was in Zihuantinao 40 plus years ago. It was a super tiny fishing village. It's claim to fame at the time was from the movie "10" with Bo Derek (corn rows and famous jogging on the beach scene) and also starring Dudley Moore. "10" was filmed about 40 minutes north on the Bay of Manzanillo. You missed seeing the stunning all white resort of Puerto Las Hadas! It was an exclusive hidden resort of the rich and famous back then. I'm not sure what the status of the place is today.

My wife and I missed you by a week. We flew into Zihuatanejo the week of July 4th. My wife is from Petatlán where we love to visit. Even though we were just there, we love to be able to return with you as you rekindle great memories of Zihua. Thank you for what you do. Zihu is such a beautiful place with friendly people. The first time we came here we fell in love with this place. Booked for February 2023 and already planning 3weeks 2024

Your video was amazingly helpful! We stayed on Playa la Ropa and loved Triton. We ate there repeatedly. Also loved La Papa Roca. Would never had found it without your recommendation. Best potato ever!! Other visitors wished they found Triton earlier in the week. We did everything right from the start because of you!

I was there in 2006 and yes Playa Las Gatas is very nice! Try pescado zarandeado there at Las Gatas it’s very good! Mmm Mariscos 🦐 🦞 Isla Ixtapa was my favorite when I went.

I went there in1977 and it was basically a fishing village... and Ixtapa had one big hotel. I think I'll go back to see how much it's changed.

My favorite weather is overcast days at the beach. So that video was perfect! If I could find a beach with lots of cloudy days, I would move there. I didn’t know that fun fact about my favorite movie Shawshank; I didn’t know the true take was at St.Croix. My other fav movie is The Count of Monte Cristo.
