I'm not rich, married, good looking, I'm about to be laid off, I'm old, I have health issues, and I don't have a lot to be proud of, but i can say I saw Carter Beauford in concert twice and I'm very proud of that!
Honestly, most everyone on that stage is insanely talented. They play off each other better than most any band in history. If you have never been to a live show, I highly recommend that you go at least once.
Mr. Carter Beauford...better than Portnoy, Peart, Rich, Mangini, Moon, Bonham, Gadd, Copeland, Weckl, Silveria, Luzier, Ulrich, Williams, Jordinson, Lombardo, Mullen...At 58 years old, this guy is THE BEST DRUMMER IN THE WORLD. YES, I SAID IT. He loves what he does and he never gives less than his best. He has progressively gotten better with age and if you watch some of their live performances, you can definitely tell. He has so much soul, ambidexterity, groove, feel, technique, style, technicality, speed, versatility...every performance, he gives it his all and he mixes it up all the time. He makes a 4/4 time signature sound impossible. And he does it all with a SMILE on his face. God, I love this guy so much. He puts the music and the fans before himself.

I don't get why it has to be a debate over who the best drummer is. Carter has fun every time he plays and is a joy to watch. That's enough for me, as someone who is a massive fan of all the guys listed in below.
That's right, he looks like he always having fun. As a drummer I look at all of the greats with equal respect, I mean they do it for a living, that in itself is good enough.
Every time he plays this song he does them, and yet those cymbal-tom-snare-snare hertas he does just before the end never fail to floor me big time. What a drummer.
As a Blues, Country and Rock drummer playing for over 30 years and being on stage for thousands, I may say That Carter Beaufort is by far one of the best drummers ever, his style of playing is unmatched. His friendly smiling face and having a great time attitude behind the kit, his joy he gets from always challenging himself, and his drum fills and solos are incredible, One of the Best Drummers Ever
Every time I've seen them live, and every video like this... it always makes me smile. Watching any musician like Carter play is watching a big kid remembering when they were young and falling in love with their chosen instrument. The guy just loves playing... and he's damned good too.
Not a huge fan of Dave Matthews band but Carter is something else. The feel, love and skill that man has is incredible. Can't help but love watching that guy

Nope, not an alien or star trek creature with 5 arms, nope just an AMAZING DRUMMER that is a distinct pleasure to watch and listen to.............IDK if he's the Best(in my book) or not, God bless him, the band and us ALL!!!!! Oh, and his footwork is TREMENDOUS to say the least!!!!!!!
Carter is for drumming the same Ronaldhino is for soccer... Magic skills, huge performances, always in contribution with the team, helping to make greater the other ones, and make it seems so easy....And always, with a big smile in his face

So many comparisons, can we not just agree many musicians have unique sounds? One isn't always better than the other. There are tons of super talented musicians who can melt faces any time, getting 6 to 8 on the same stage is the real magic.

The tiny monitor in front of Carter, is that lyrics scrolling past him? I've never seen a drummer with that kind of gadget. Can anyone confirm what that is for me?
Carter, Peart and Portnoi are all good drummers in their own right. I think Carter has the most diverse skill set out of the three. Neil and Mike are limited to rock and can't play Funk, R&B and authentic Reggae well Carter can play all 4 well. Pearts attempt at traditional jazz needs a lot of work. He doesn't swing well and looks awkward in that genre tho in Rock he is a god and u can't take that away from him.
Kastlemerock Talk What rock music does he play? Just because he added some very basic dbl bass doesn’t make it rock. To say Peart is limited to rock shows how very little you know about him. I’m not that big of a peart fan but he could do everything Carter is doing and add more without a problem. I’m not taking anything away from carter, he is great.
