I'm all about the cymbals. I'm undecided on the drum portion. If I can get the module and cymbals to integrate with my TD-30 I'll be probably be happy. I'd be SUPER happy if I could hook up my existing Roland pad to the drum inputs on the Zildjian to simplify my travel setup.

I got a chance to try both this kit and the DW eKit. I love the cymbals on the Zildjian but that's about it. The DW kit drums just sound so much better. The Zildjian drums sound very "cheap" like a $500 eKit sound module. Again, they did a phenomenal job with the cymbal sound and feel for sure. The wireless deal is so much better on the DW. If we are going this eKit route, it should be easier for us at set up, not more time consuming. The DW is about a grand more for the same 5 pc kit with cymbals so, when you're already north of $7000 it's really personal preference and what feels and sounds the best to you. I would love to see a mash up with the DW drums and Zildjian cymbals. That would be a near perfect eKit, minus the price. Happy drumming everyone and cheers!!!

for the prices, I just dont see these kits selling a lot. Those cymbals are nothing new and for $7,000 only getting three cymbals is pretty rough. Yeah much better options out there for that price. It is cool to see more and more companies getting into the e-kit space.

@@KristinaSchiano That is not true, the Alesis Surge cymbals are 15 years old and had the same ideas. These are probably still better, but your statement is not true.

@@KristinaSchiano not true. Zildjian may have told you that but sadly not true..Also got a chance to play this kit the other day and my lord the triggering was horrendous on those cymbals. Guys at the shop were saying they felt like Zildjian tricked them cause the guy they sent out to demo it, his module was very dialed in and updated with firmware that Zildjian hasnt even released yet. They have yet to sell one of these kits because they are honest salesmen. Sadly they are stuck with three of them now and they are hoping Zildjian steps up their game with updating the firmware for ALL, not just their salesmen who pitch this kit to drum shops.

Sounds good kristina, nice work 😎👌 I have a set of Roland v-drums and they are awesome but this looks to up the game. So those cymbals plug in? I am assuming the sounds we are hearing is from your headphones. I would like to try these.

Yup! The cymbals act like electronic cymbals but to people just in the room, they sound like the Zildjian silent practice cymbals! Super low volume!

Thanks for the review! Cymbals sound great. Have you played a roland TD50 K2 with the TD 50X Module? How would compare the quality of the sound ? And the roland digital ride vs this one ?

It’s a great strategy plan for Zildjian. And I have, used Zildjian Cymbals with every acoustic setup I’ve ever played on. But; I’m still Not sold. To purchase it yet. Because I just consider that it still has more, to work out with Alchemy E-kit’s algorithm.

Honestly I expect a $7000 e kit to sound better. Like i get you can just plug it into ez drummer but for that much money i feel like the sounds should be a bit more realistic

The sounds are actually fairly good compared to the competition. I do think the kit is a little expensive, but for how it functions, I think this is a great kit. Sounds are all subjective. What you may not like others may think are great. Zildjian did work with a group of e-kit experts to come up with their kits. They did record all their own sounds so they are actual realistic drum sounds that you just do not like. I do not think the Zildjian e-kits sound all that bad and there are only a few brands of e-kits that do sound better. Also as they come out with software upgrades and with the use of their app, Zildjian says they will be constantly improving their software and bring in more sounds and kits.

In my opinion, these drum sounds are better than the Roland kit I have! The price is a result of the amazing new technology in the cymbals! There are lower models as well😊

My other question of concern is. Since they’ve concentrated on salivating on Cymbals packaging for the set. How will they design a patent separately for Cymbals sake, and the other usage, of product?!

I've had Gen16 cymbals on my practice e-kit pretty much since they came out - in fact the first set are mostly cracked and replaced with the later bronzed versions now. Definitely nicer and more realistic to play on than rubber cymbals. Are the cymbal sounds in the Alchem-E sampled rather than processed from mic inputs as the Gen16 are?

Nice video. I assume there's some ambience settings in the module, correct? Because the drums sound pretty dry/dead. I noticed you can see through the drum heads, I wonder how thin they are and how they will hold up long-term compared to my TD20 heads which still look new after 15 years. And how loud are the cymbals acoustically? One of the main reasons I have an e-kit is that it's quiet, and it seems like hitting on real metal cymbals will be louder and kind of defeat one of the main purposes. Would be nice if a portion of your video was just the acoustic sound from the kit (not the module sound), maybe I missed it. Nice having all the Zildjian cymbals to choose from in the module for sure. Do you know if the module sounds are engineered vs sampled?

Love the look and real feel of the cymbals but the drums still sound outdated and on the fake side. If they can improve on that Zildjian will definitely be in the conversation of best e-kit.

It seems great. But 8K is a serious investment when you already own a Roland VAD 507. They need a cymbal pack with a cymbal module with USB and multiple front of house outs. I know that would not be cheap either. But a drummer to spend 3k on cymbals is not strange. I hope they do that. It does seem great.

So, in this video we hear you play through the module sounds, then you do into the module which looks nice but has features that, if I understand correctly, basically all modern modules have, and then you go into how it will be the new standard, but you have never actually demonstrated what makes this kit stand out. You did not let us hear the cymbals that you praised, the sound we hear is obviously DI'd from the module. The only thing I got from this video is that you are obviously sponsored by Zildjian, otherwise I have only seen and heard some run of the mill marketing hyperbole and claims. Edit: Ah well, read through the comments, also just sound like a Zildjian PR person there, too bad.

The main difference with this kit is that they are not the classic rubber cymbals. Anyone who plays an ekit know how bad those feel. So I’m not really talking about how these cymbals sound. It’s mainly that they are actual real cymbals and not the classic rubber ones

Also, they are the same size as a regular acoustic set, so you don't save any space.

@@KristinaSchiano How they sound is still important, given how loud regular rubber e cymbals are, especially if the PR message Zildjian is paying you to say is that they are ideal to use at home. If they are still loud af then they can have the best feel in the world, they would still be unusable for 90% of e kit users.

That kit really doesn’t sound that great. The drums could sound better and the cymbals sound somewhat thin. The tech is amazing but they have a way to go from what I’m hearing. Is that why you did more talking than demoing the set? Play the drums and let them speak for themselves.

So, you pay 7 THOUSAND dollars for an electronic kit to sound like an acoustic kit. Why not just play a great acoustic kit and real cymbals for a fraction of the cost? People have gone insane.
