In this video the Zip becomes legal beagle! Hull I.D. numbers are issued by the state, title arrives and a few short videos are shown with the new prop under different loads, I misspoke in the video the prop is 10-3/8" diameter with a 13 pitch. We have been running the crap out of it and loving every minute of it!!!

Wow Josh. It has been a great journey... short of being there helping you I feel like I've been right there with you these past 4 years. I really appreciate the way you documented your build. If I had the room and the CCNRs of our Home Owners Association wasn't so strict I would give this a go. Keep the projects coming... I'll be watching and for the moment living vicariously through you.

An unexpected gem! Thanks for sharing bro. Your attention to detail and hard work is the reason you have zero issues with this little beauty. Now get that water spot buffed out and use a coaster next time!!!! Lol.😎

Joshua, the tremendous effort in quality you have placed into your zip is spectacular! She’s a beauty! Personally, the only thing I would have done any different is the motor. I like the more classic motors for looks, like a red Johnson seahorse. That could be very difficult to find though. Your choose is still great. I look forward to your aerial shots!

Randy Stover i love the look of the early 50's johnsons, red/off white color scheme. might look into retrofitting one of those cowls onto my merc and paint the leg, also love the early 50's mercs with all the polished stainless!

I would definitely recommend hiding a second i.d. badge somewhere on the Prolly Sync . It would be heartbreaking if something were to happen to it , and you weren't able to recover it easily .

I am at the crucial step of deciding how I will finish my boat. How did you decide whether to coat with epoxy before varnishing? I understand the advantages of epoxy to stabilize the wood etc. but I wonder about how difficult it will be to maintain and repair the finish down the road.
@joshuaburks
@joshuaburks 6 лет назад
Graham Stewart i liked the waterproofing aspect of the epoxy, i never considered anything else, i believe repair work if ever needed should be pretty easy to match

Where is the video where he breaks down the time and cost?
@joshuaburks
@joshuaburks 2 года назад
You can find this info in my video "building the zip the final chapter" on my channel, hope this helps, Josh. (1042 hrs. And $11,400 and change)
@Ringele5574
@Ringele5574 5 месяцев назад
Following up on Josh's reply, you should really watch the entire series. I guarantee you that there isn't another series out there that explains the building process better. He breaks down the costs and hours spent after each video as well. And don't let that $11,400 price tag scare you. That is spread out over 4 years, and now he has a custom boat that he built and can be proud of. You can't buy a good new Jon boat with motor and trailer for what he spent.

@@Ringele5574 I did end up watching the entire video series after he commented back at me. I agree it was fantastic.
