Need to shingle the tape--there was 1 that was not shingled. Plus to get the warranty, you need to roll the tape with the roller so that it marks the tape and activates the ingredient in the tape. Zip is a great product and their Zip r with foam insulation to the back is awesome way to prevent thermal bridging.

some of the vertical tape lines are not on top of the horizontal tape lines. zip also makes a glue that you can spread into the nail heads that go too deep.

What do you use Inside for a vapor retarder? Building a new house in Canada, any tips appreciated. I'm also using rigid insulation on exterior

Yup and you can hit the nail heads with LAF (LIquid applied flashing). Bob in Nevada

Can the Zip system be used for subfloor replacement of plywood ??? Thanks for the awesome videos.

Thanks for watching! They don't specifically sell a floor sheathing but maybe they have a suggestion that could work for your application. May be worth reaching out to them. www.huberwood.com/zip-system

I'm curious as to the comparison with SIPS. Where would that fall in construction?
@Theconsciousbuilder
@Theconsciousbuilder Год назад
Hey Bee Bob, we do not have any experience with SIPs. Every time we have looked into it so far, our estimates have come out to be more expensive for the client.

Sounds like another, as good as product. 40 years roofing seen a lot of products come and go through the years.

most people that use this system will go back over the nail holes with the zip liquid flash. If you don’t like the tape then you can use the liquid flash instead of the tape too.

Half inch zip on the walls for a single story? What drove that? That's a lot of sheer strength. Or just because you could only get one type and wanted it for the roof?
@Theconsciousbuilder
@Theconsciousbuilder Год назад
We did it because of what was available to us for the small project. Otherwise, we would have had to order way more than we needed.

Can you install wrap or tyvek over ZIP panels? As an extra barrier… Thoughts?
@Theconsciousbuilder

That would be a question for Huber. I'm not sure why you would want to or need to?

@@Theconsciousbuilder As per code in California, we need two weather barriers with Stucco cladding. I tried my best to use Zip R sheeting, I couldn’t because of low shear strength. Higher shear strength needed for seismic zones.

Now you know your Zip house won't breathe with a permeability of 1 if taped. Which will bring problems in the future like mold and rot.
@Theconsciousbuilder
@Theconsciousbuilder 5 месяцев назад
There won't be any mold or rot issues because the wall can dry towards the inside and outside. The Smart vapour barrier on the interior is meant for this.

What smart vapor do you use. Also building in Canada. Same wall detail.
