Zipp have just launched their 1Zero HITOP Sw and S wheel sets but I've been riding them for several months and I'm very impressed. I even like TireWiz which I was sure was a gimmick at first. Anyway, here's the full talk through on the wheels and how they ride.
Thanks to SRAM / Zipp for the test wheels, Giro Cycling UK, Peaty’s Products, Crud XL Fenders, Torq Nutrition and Hebtroco for supporting the channel, and to my Patreon supporters for their monthly pledges. Cheers

On my bike enduro bike, I run the Zipp Moto3 on the front and a Reserve HD AL on the rear, both on Chris King hubs. The Zipp isn't strong enough for the rear but an absolutely sensational front rim for grip and comfort, and nothing comes close to Santa Cruz/Reserve when it comes to warranty and customer care. After some minor dents to the alloy rim in the Lakes but still holding air perfectly, I sent over some photos and I had a new rim in the post a couple of days later. The original rim is actually still fine, but a technical warranty claim so why not get a new one ready to swap over. £120 for rim, Reserve fillmore valve and full role of reserve rim tape is just next level, especially considering the no questions lifetime warranty.

That’s definitely great service. Always good to know when brands step up (or not) as we rarely get to see that side

@@GuyKesTV I had a bike stolen, but the rear Zipp rim was in for warranty because I cracked it, so that's why I still have one, and just used the warranty rim on the front. Maybe the moto3zero with an insert to the rear would be the perfect combo, but the reserve alloys are spot on and the warranty turn around is great. Same with santa cruz bearings etc.

Hi! How would you say these compare from a ride feel perspective to the Hunt Proven Carbon XC wheels (not the UD version)? Worth the extra money compared to Hunt? Can you speak to comfort on techy/chunky descents for each? Thanks!

There are so many carbon wheels now. They seem to be a lot easier/cheaper to make/engeneer then a frame... but then ever cheaper alloy bikes are pretty great these days. It's a great time to ride a mountain bike.

Really interested in the more affordable S version. I can't find the rim weight to compare with the 315g RSL and 358g Roval rims. Hub weight really isn’t noticeable at the center of the wheel. Looks like the S model uses the heavier/stiffer Sapim CX-Sprint spokes but with 24 spoke count that might be a good trade-off to make the S version hold up better to more aggressive riding.

Hey Frank, I'll see if I can find out from SRAM

@GuyKesTV I emailed SRAM and they wouldn't disclose the rim weight since they don't sell the rims separately. I emailed back asking about hub weights so I can calculate rim weight. Waiting for reply.

@GuyKesTV ZM2SL hubs are 88g front 225g rear = 313g + 210g for 48 cx-ray spokes + 20g for 48 alloy nipples + 20g for 2 tw sensors = 563 grams. 1325g claimed weight for wheelset - 563g = 762 grams per pair of rims or about 381 grams per rim. About 23 grams heavier than a Roval Control rim even though the Zipp HiTop is 3mm lower profile. They must use more T700 carbon which is heavier but more durable and compliant. I think that's a fair trade-off for only 23 grams.

Have they improved the bearings? My Zipp 3moto bearings were garbage.

TBH they’ve said nothing about the bearings in the PR which is odd as they’ve gone into a lot of detail about them on recent road wheel launches. They’re OK so far but I’ll keep everyone posted if they go south. What did you replace yours with?

@@GuyKesTV Enduro bearings. I met a guy on a gravel bike over at Llandegla. Similar story. Not entirely sure what wheelset he was running. Impressed with the wheels generally but my other stead is a steel hard tail with heavy duty everything, so hardly comparable.
