My main wingman / nemesis and Patreon investor Ryan Stockton borrowed 'my' Cervelo ZFS-5 for a truly brutal charity Everesting session at our local and infamously janky Stainburn trail centre. So what mods did we make for the mission and how did Ryan and the bike get on?

Doing an Everesting ride is madness, doing it on a techy off road trail, with no rest even on the DH is whole other level. I doff all my many hats to Ryan.

Its just the conversation on Monday morning when he tells his work collegues that he rode up and down the same hill for 14 hours that must be interesting. Only avid cyclists really get it.🤩

Chapeau Ryan - saw this on Guys Insta stories at the time, massively impressive. Just fitted those new gen 2.4 Forekasters on my Scale XC hardtail for winter, dead impressed. Not slowed it down much but feels like a trail bike tyre. Impressive.

Craziest everesting route ever. No rest anywhere on that route and the descent as much of a killer as the climb! Is there a Strava or GPS link for the ride?

For me the jury is out using a twistlock for the lockout function. Really nice well thought out bike set up. Do the cables go through the headset bearing or to the side?

Through the bearings unfortunately. Just about to swap forks so we’ll see if there’s any steerer / cable / hose damage yet.

I've been thinking that the ideal Downcountry bike shouldn't come with a 120mm XC fork but should instead come with a lightweight 140mm Trail fork. The Fox 34 Grip 2 would work. Keep the XC-ish rear suspension, keep it very lightweight, but add the 140mm fork. If the Transition Spur, Epic Evo, Rocky Mountain Element, or similar bike came with the 140mm Fox 34, that would be ideal.

@@GuyKesTV I'll be interested to see what bikes you try with the 34s. Reviewers say that the most recent version of the 140mm Fox 34 is quite good.

@@marksandoval5361 it’s in a Druid at the moment and getting worked hard. Super smooth but need to add some volume spacers to keep it up. #workinprogress
