ZK Fairlane Pt8 - Preparing Engine Bay, Removing Fuel Tank and Plumbing 

The hard and dirty work continues and it is good to see the progress. It's in very good condition considering the huge number of kilometres it's done. I was concerned about the age limit on tyres when I was getting the roadworthy on my Austin and found that there isn't one. The rule of thumb is 10 years but there is no regulation in Victoria that stipulates the age, only that they need to be in good condition and have enough tread and no cracks. 😊👍

Hi Pete , I cleaned a engine bay with sugar soap and it came up mint . I mixed an extra strong solution and put it in a spray bottle and let soak in and then used a brush and water to rinse it off. Always enjoy your Commentary.

There are pressure washer attachments on rollers or wheels that you can roll underneath the vehicle and they've got 4 jets that spray directly upwards. I've reviewed a few on my channel. They do a great job of busting loose a lot of dirt, dust, salt, etc. that normal pressure washing will not get. I use a pump sprayer with a wand and some undercarriage cleaner, degreaser or soap to coat the underneath of the vehicle to help with dirt removal. It's a great way to clean the underside of the vehicle.

I had the baby brother of the ZK; the XE Falcon. It began life as a 3-3 four speed. A year in, I tossed those and fitted a 302 with a C4. Drove her around like that for the next four and a half years. Had a single system fitted still. Just prefered the more refined rumble. After five and a half years, sold her and got a 1980's Mitsubishi Colt sedan, due to my love of driving small cars that are more driver involved. Three years later, got an aging TP Magna sedan.......a beautiful car when running properly. Wish I still had all three cars. By the way, that ZK looks exactly the same as the one on the cover of a ZK brochure I've still got....... including the colour! That oily green shade was very popular on XE's and ZK's.

Hi Pete, I have grabbed a lot of ice-cream containers from my local dairy. They have slightly larger ones, same-ish as yours but longer. They have them stacked up and one place was free to give away and another was 20c each. They make great storage containers (and I'm fat enough as i am lol)

I think bodywise you'll get the nod from VicRoads as long as there's no obvious rust holes.

My 380 is a kangaroo magnet. Living in a semi rural area, so far hit and killed 4 of them and she has the scars to prove it. It's sad but often they just come out of nowhere leaving you little to no time to respond. Keeping in mind that trying to swerve to avoid them could cause a serious accident.

Pete in your opinion would hydroblasting work on the EA Falcon snoflakes I know you have had the XC ones done.
