I love my Aeolus headphones on my Darkvoice tube amp. Definitely my favorite combo. I was able to audition them at RMAF this past year so I had an ideas what I was getting into.The sound is not neutral by any means but it has a real sense of depth in an almost 3-D effect. Lush is the term I would use to describe them. The treble could be a bit peaky if you pushed it in the EQ. These fukkers rock.

I would love to hear a review of the AudioQuest Nighthawk Carbon. I pulled the trigger on it last week and have been listening to it for a couple of days. No where near the full break-in period(It 100% makes a difference) but I'm loving these things so far. The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix sound SO GOOD.

Hello, thanks a lot for a very good and useful review. How would the Aeolus compare to the Focal Clear MG and the Hifiman Ananda? I ask because I'm planning to upgrade my Ananda with the Aeolus (I'm also considering the Focal), and use them with a Naim Atom Uniti Headphone amp. I listen mainly to classical, jazz and to a lesser extent, folk and acoustic. Best regards, Ignacio Reply

I did audition this headphone at last year's canjam Singapore. It's a fantastic headphone but I loved the sony mdr z1r more. Detail speed and grandness. In my opinion you can't go wrong with verite, aeolus, he 1000 v2 or the z1r, they all sound smooth and fantastic.

Good review, aeolus is quite natural sounding indeed. If you thought that had a lot of detail you'd be blown away with vérité ;) Also adi-2 dac can lack power for them at times, maybe you could get one of the thx amps to boost that

I have ZMF - Aeolus and I love LOVE LOVE THEM. I hooke them into my modded Mytek Brooklyn DAC + with an SBoostrer linear power supply but I have a monoprice 887 coming to give it more power captain. 300ohm's needs watts and clean watts. I use the perferated suede pads and got a some more notisable treble detail and a flatter frequency response. It is a cool set. Try the suede pads to fix the EQ to get more accuracy. I use balanced Forza cables made in poland and I have a single ended Skedra cable from Vikingaudioreviews ...stock cable is filler/junk. I know you don't like cables but when you get to 300ohms they need to open up the pipeline a bit to get as much power as you can. Think about these as like a stepping stone you can build with legos...only instead of legos you replacve the chord and get different pads that bring the midrange up a bit too and more flat. I want to vote with my wallet and get Verite closed backs next.

Mateusz makes a killer cable eh? Right now i use sundara with his balanced cable out of a su8->789 and fully bored out like that theyre a way different beast. Wish you could get these with 3.5mm sockets so i could use the same cable

Dont take this the wrong way, you are starting to look like Zeos, in the way he gets excited about great headphones. A 26 minute headphone review from bgga? NICE. Z also loves these.

iluvj00 I also watch Zeos, but I think the main difference is the OCD queue and song playlist for specific features of a set that are the hallmarks of a BGGA vid. Zeos goes off on other OCD details, but not usually to the level of a specific time on a track.

great review, could you try ut in your Felix amp. Playing back Ozza or black sabbath is a challenge on many headphones, I rec only for such bands hifiman he1000v1, despite i have the he1000se but the v1 is awesome for such bands as Ozza or the likes. It kinda known he1000v1 is an experience for rock. Its now replaced with v2 or SE but v1 rules for rock. Another one great for rock music is denon 9200. Only very few headphones can be used for such music. Audeze are out of the picture totally, as they suck with rock and i had them all. Despite the RME being great dac/amp but it is a bit thin sounding, with headphones please accept my criticism that the RME is not a great device to review headphones on. High end headphones definitely need way better dac /amp than that RME

I own a pair of ZMF Eikons and I love them. Technically not the best headphone I own but they seem to be attached to my head more then the rest... hmmmm. Oh btw play them off your tubes. Those headphones shine on tubes!

In the video, you mentioned that dynamic drivers, usually break up doing Black Sabbath - sweet leaf. I know what you are talking about. My only dynamic that does this really, really is the Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro. It is my daily driver I have a pair at Work and at Home. It does justice to everything. Sub-bass is a little light I will admit.. but good enough I would say. The DT1990 uses their in-house tesla driver; which is very fast and very detailed.

@@JeffJacquesmd Yeah the unrest is actually only in Certain Parts of New Delhi, and its sad what's happening, but as with every wrong that happens around the world, its mainly politicians who are the one's to blame for creating this mess and i don't really like it. But the rest of india is absolutely fine and no problems anywhere. And i'm from a city Visakhapatnam in the state of Andhra, where your mother-in-law is from, tell her and she'll be surprised.

Voyager V3 Naga Audio SIRIUS are both pretty unfuckedwith mids. For headphones my experience is growing but both sundara and 660s were not having issues there it was subbass with them

Does anyone know if ZMF uses the Foster 50mm biodynamic drivers or in house made ones? If the former I wonder just how much these differ (beside tuning) to the Fostex 610/X00 cans. The world needs this comparison.

Bizarre, no notification so just getting to this. I’ve been really curious about these. Let’s see what you think..... So, about 70% through the vid I have to say, I enjoy it so much when you geek out on the music. When we get into the details, and the behind the scenes nuance of music I’ve listened to for 30+ years. No doubt these headphones are amazing. I usually prefer closed backs, but I can definitely see owning a pair of these, maybe in April? 😉 Much mahalos my bruh! I love this headphone without reservations. It scales very well with better gear but surprisingly not that picky. Will pair ok with a portable but not as well as planars. Fwiw, I don’t hear the thing with Stevie Nicks or Winwood. But I’m also kinda deaf above 15k., so...

Yes!- Love your reference tracks!! Was just playing can't find my way home on Acoustic an hour ago- blind Faith super group! I just ordered a pair of senn hd660s- for mixing music... Going to use a little labs monotor which I heard is a crystal clear amp... I'll see- And lastly- My beating of a dead horse... I've mentioned that OCD sound bit that occurs at the end of 'eclipse' from Floyd's Dark Side.. After the gentleman says-"its all dark"... As the heart beat fades you hear the song- "Matthew and son" by Cat Stevens... A good bit to test how your iems or cans are working- try it if you haven't... Riot-on my friend-✊🏻🙏🏻

Bad Guy Good Audio Reviews it is what it is. Focal does a 5 year which is transferable with the original receipt from an AD. I think I’d like at least one transfer for the life of the headphones. On the other hand how many people sell these?

red line I thin the key question is the price point. The Blon’s punch way above their weight. Personally the S8Z’s are excellent and I enjoy them more than the Blons. Also the EE Valkyries are excellent, but V shaped and not to everyone’s taste.

Jeff J Fearless stuff is quite good. I’ve owned the s8 and s6, but that’s quite the jump in the price. For me personally the Etymotic er2xr is a jump up in terms of resolution but the fit might not work with everyone. And you can’t get an aftermarket cable for it, except for their own rubbery turd
