Door chains can be bypassed in one second with one kick and a dead bolt in two kicks. Watch how easy regular locks are bypassed easily with force. Strike Plate Lock survive over 60 kicks. Check us out at www.doorchain.com
Have no idea how I ended up here, but this is actually kinda impressive. Regardless of bolt cutters or screw drivers this buys valuable time to react to the situation.
+Roblox domain yeah I mean if your gonna break in a house why wouldnt you just climb through a window or breaking one it would save you 90% of the effort
+VelocityGrimZ what would you call a mindless person who cares nothing about your welfare and wants to come into your residence hurt you and take your stuff
People are saying the intruder could just reach in and take it off or unscrew it off, yes maybe but this is giving you the extra time to call police or get your weapons ready, and if they do reach in, kick their hand, chop it off if you will.
your question stick your hand in and remove the ring, first, with a lever door handle impossible you have to close the door to remove the ring, with a round door knob you have to close the door to the point that there is a two inch gap to take off the ring, you have to have the wrist of an 8 year old, finally I would love for someone with a tiny wrist in my door when I slam it shut. its a door chain you use it when you answer the door.
+Strike Plate Locks tbh which burglar doesn't bring some sort of tool. mainly something for prying. if anything shut the door and push on the chain with your pry tool just my observation. also if someone is determined to get into a house they will be it the doors or Windows
Some of these negative comments are ignorant. Nothing is infallible. His product is significantly better than many options out there. This product is also designed for home invasion and forcible confinement scenarios. Buying mere seconds can provide an indispensable lifeline for individuals under threat. Place a 911 call, alert neighbours, etc. At least he's out there inventing, innovating and trying. It's easy to be a cynic or critic and tougher to make solutions. I applaud this man but more importantly, his product. $20 for great peace of mind. Yes, please!
We know of no door lock that protects windows, but we are in the process of working on a door lock that protects window glass. We are having problems with the force field it will not reach from the door to the window.
no worries this is an awesome product for sure. this is something that my mom was needing. we ended up bolting the door down in the concrete below. im thinking this might make a good gift though for the other doors or to make the bedroom a saferoom
maybe you could invent a system of wires that you position infront of the glass that you plug into an outlet from the inside. and then wires constantly send arcs of blue electricity so its constantly buzzing and crackling and anyone who touches it will get zapped. then no one would even come near the house. or make it so that it can be activated to zap intruders away from your door area from eletricution. like you just flip a switch and they start getting fried. i mean if someone is that violently attacking your door imagine the feeling of flipping a switch or pressing a button and watching your shocking system pop out and shock them. or put a siren system outside near the top someplace so you can start blaring an alert siren and attract everyone's attention that an emergency is happening, that might stop some people
Some of these comments are just idiotic. "Just use a gun, throw a rock through the window, cut the chain, remove the screws, etc". Of course numnuts, if someone wanted into your house there's a million ways in. Hell, why not just drive a truck, car, or army tank through the front door or even your front wall if you want a guaranteed way in? Most forced entries like this are impulsive, impromptu, crimes of opportunity. The point of products like this are that they're better than nothing, & designed to slow down an intruder or cause them to just move onto an easier target. It's not supposed to turn your house into an impenetrable fortress.
What stops you from just kicking a regular door chain and walking in? Regular door chains are found in every hardware store, Walmart, target and many others stores in the country. They can be bypassed with one kick. We are a huge improvement. What I am starting to see in many of the comments is the misinterpretation of this lock. Door chains are supposed to be used for answering the door. This ALSO has a flip-lock to secure the door when it is closed. For someone to come with a screwdriver seems somewhat far-fetched in the idea that you are standing at the door while they are trying to unscrew two screws. Even if this were the case, it would still give you time to A. Call 911 B. Grab a defensive weapon or C. go to a safer place. You also have the option of going to your local hardware store and “upgrading” the lock by adding security screws. The problem with existing door chains is that with one kick, the perpetrator would be inside your house in two seconds. Our lock survived sixty-kicks, which is a major upgrade from standard door chains. If you would like to see this video, check us out at Www.Strikeplatelocks.com. With an old style door chain, you know they are trying to get in when the door hits you in the face.
Well a 285 pound martial artist tried that, and it did not work as seen in our new video, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--No-PLxpSXU.html
Strike Plate Locks I'm talking about how if he were to kick it and it swung open like the video shows, he would be able to reach his hand in there and grab the ring off the knob
Looks like a good product. It would give me the time I need to get my gun. TWO thumbs up! When you put a demonstration in your video and it helps. Kudos on the guy trying to break in!
Guys, great device. Warn the young man doing the kicking that he is destroying his meniscus cartilage in the his knee. I'm retired Law Enforcement and kicked many doors. It's cumulative damage. You won't get away with it. Our ego's get in our way and we don't give up. You are really going to regret this in a few years when you go to the surgeon and it is never the same. Total knee replacement... Words of wisdom. Use that heavy bag instead or two people with a ram. Regards.
your question stick your hand in and remove the ring, first, with a lever door handle impossible you have to close the door to remove the ring, with a round door knob you have to close the door to the point that there is a two inch gap to take off the ring,(if you want to make the gap even smaller with a round door knob, twist the chain once or twice before putting it on the round door knob, it will shorten it) at full length on a round door knob you have to have the wrist of an 8 year old, finally I would be very hesitant to stick my hand in the door when someone who was afraid and standing on the other side
At 4:03, I like how the girl is like " I don't know you" then the guy starts to hit the door and she whips out her phone with ninja skills and just automatically has 911 on the line.
The reason why this particular lock doesnt fail, is very simple, its because the lock cradles the doorknob. It also helps distribute the force of impact of the kicks and the bag. Im also gonna assume that the chain is a very hefty chain and is made using high quality steal..
this 289 pound martial artist hit the door as hard as he could 39 times and the ring did not come flying off, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--No-PLxpSXU.html
fair question, if you have the hand and wrist of an eight year old that is a possibly, to protect against eight year olds, twist the chain twice and then put it on the round door knob, with a lever door knob impossible, you have to close the door to take the ring off the handle. this is a door chain for answering the door, a flip lock on the strikeplate lock secures the door when it is closed. I would be very hesitant to stick my hand in the door while someone is standing on the other side.
I just installed a steel plate in the jamb. Filled the door itself with structural foam, eliminated all slack in the locks/door. Tuning the locks and door will get a higher degree of safety, having a peep hole makes opening the door unnecessary. Keep in mind, someone kicks your door in, deadly force may be warranted, Be prepared to defend yourself.
How would you do that? The ring is held tight against the door around the knob when the door is in the open position. The door would have to be closed in order to get the slack to get the ring off. This actually looks like a good product.
I guess I'm lucky my door and frame are whats called a fire door I think in any case they are fairly thick metal doors along with metal door jam. I locked myself out once I finally managed to pick the lock after trying to get in with a crow bar and many other techniques then I realized I had my picks in my pocket thankfully and being my door I've used it as a practice lock.I'm not sure if this would work on my door but I'll have to look I've been wanting to put some other type of lock on my door but it being metal and in a rental I'm afraid of messing it up I would love to put one of those peep holes in but don't have the money to hire someone and I don't have the tools to attempt such a thing. This lock could be as effective as the peep hole though.
This is a great product, you should use this and then have another emergency locking system that strong that can be put in place because like said said before, the chain can be cut and screws can be removed. I might have to get this tho great product!
Metal, Outside opening door, 4 Inch Screws into hinges and doorframe, Normal Lock + Deadbolt, Extra deadbolt or chain, And to top it off perhaps some cheap scrap metal as a extra deterrent.
Actually having the door open outside would expose the hinge making access easy by simply removing the pin. Outside hinges would then need further protection.
Good idea having the mounting hardware so easily accessible. If they shim the lock all they need to do is unscrew the plate. Another way around it is the zip tie trick. Hell they could even pull the hinge pin and in they come. Now when it comes to the door knob, on the handle style all they have to do is reach in, unlock it, turn the handle and the ring falls off. For a standard knob they just need a heavy zip tie. Push the point against the chain nearest the ring and the ring will fall off.
you do understand this is a door chain, for when you answer the door, sorry no hinge pin to pull, one pinky on the door knob defeats your zip tie, your question stick your hand in and remove the ring, first, with a lever door handle impossible you have to close the door to remove the ring, with a round door knob you have to close the door to the point that there is a two inch gap to take off the ring,(if you want to make the gap even smaller with a round door knob, twist the chain once or twice before putting it on the round door knob, it will shorten it) at full length on a round door knob you have to have the wrist of an 8 year old, finally I would be very hesitant to stick my hand in the door when someone who was afraid and standing on the other side.
I watched all of the walking dead. never seen any zombie kick down a door like this guy xD this video should just be called "best door lock to keep out intruders"
ever since i been using the strike plate locks my kicks efficiency has gone up 200 percent. my kicks now go through my opponents like paper. thanks strike plate locks but seriously i want one .
Though a step better than the flimsy stuff, a small bolt cutter can reach in and clip the chain easily. Reinforcing the door frame and handle area will be more effective. This only helps if you already opened the door.

What stops somebody reaching with a metal hanger or just a twig that is bent like a hook around the door and slipping that thing off...since the width of your hand would cause the chain to tighten too much?
we have a flip lock for when the door is closed, with a lever door handle impossible, if you have a round door knob and you open the door, I would close the door, or break the twig or bend the coat hanger it could be a game they stick the hangar inside you bend it. if you answer the door and they are holding a twig or hanger you know you have a problem, with a regular door chain you know you have a problem when the door hits you in the face.
ya gotta remember here. locks like this are to prevent force able entry. So, to use the common saying. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Meaning, if someone was trying to get in like in this video. A chain lock or this halo chain, is the least of your concern. You will need to arm and defend yourself. Or escape. That's if, you were inside. If not, well. Whoever is trying to get in when you're not home. WILL get in.
most door are have 3/4" screws holding the latch plate with a 1" thick door frame with 1/4" gap between the door frame and the 2x4 stud frame. how dose it work with that set up. I would guess not very well but would the curious to find out
you ask a fair question, I will give you my cut and paste answer I use regularly on Facebook, when you frame in an exterior door you have what's called a king stud then a jack stud on both sides then the frame of the door. So you have 2 2x4 on both sides of the doors (you also put small pieces of wood in called shims generally 1/8-inch-thick to square the door frame if needed). The door jamb that is in this video is setup just like what a normal exterior door would be. We did not have this attached to a house so we used one extra 2x4 for support, I do not believe under any circumstances the 2x4 would pull out of the wall so I am not sure what your concern is. this is about a lock attached to an anchor point. (we use 2 inch screws) this is about will the lock pull out of the anchor point.
nice product guys! good demo as well. one suggestion... magnetize or find some way to keep the ring from dangling. it would damage the molding over time which kills it for me
no one question, what if you use a metal door with a deadbolt? also, darn, I can't use the door, I guess I'll just break the window, or is the window also using part of a handcuff to protect it?
My concern here is that this depends on other factors to be successful, for example the screws holding it to the frame, if you simply swap the strike plate lock onto the door frame with the existing cheap brass screws this will fail when they come out, probably on the first blunt force hit. Second, it also depends on the integrity of the door knob, if it comes apart, the door will open. I used to be paid to break into houses professionally and legally, and the only knob I could never easily break was a schlage.
He really looks like he wants to give up , that's great plus he's kicking the shit out of that door and it's holding. I need two of these for my front and back doors 😊
I have a ring video doorbell. I do not open the door at all. However that device costs $200.00. This is a low cost alternative that anyone can afford. Pretty neat device.
