Black bears act like raccoons. They aren't very violent, very curious, and its the size that makes them dangerous. I haven't had to deal with one, but I ran into a mountain lion once. I was stopped on the trail when it walked into view and saw me. We both froze. My brilliant idea was to give it the turkey sammich in my pocket. Take a bite first, so the cat knew it was food, then toss it to him and leave while he was eating. That didn't work. That sandwich was devoured before I could get turned around all the way. The lion walked over to me, sniffed, butted its head into my leg a couple times, then left. And I jelly-legged it home to get new pants. That kitbull must have been named Thak The God-Hammer. Because if it was Princess, I wouldn't be here.

I love the idea that some Bigfoot footage is just accidentally filming animal photographers in camouflage.
@garethvila5108
@garethvila5108 2 месяца назад
I just imagined someone filming Bigfoot screaming like "What's that? It's Bigfoot, man! That's crazy!" and meanwhile, poor Jim the animal photographer being like "Why's that person screaming? I went through all the trouble of getting an amazing camouflage and now it's useless because that dude is scaring all nearby animals. I'll better leave silently." That does actually explain many Bigfoot films, if you think about it.

I was driving through Ontario Canada with my bro and i saw a Bigfoot just walking in the bush on the side of the road. Both me and my bro where like what the hell?!? Then like 20 seconds later we passed a sigh for the sasquatch creek, then the sasquatch lodge. So ya, obviously is was a guy dressed up, but why? some kind of advertising?

@coletteb.8889
@coletteb.8889 2 месяца назад
@@ToxicFaith42Yeah, it was a type of advertising, but for people who want to believe that sasquatch is out there and they can find it. It's probably so people will take pictures from their car and post it online and mention the general area in the post, then people who are out to find bigfoot will google that area and see the hotel and probably figure that that place has tips for how to see it for themselves if they stay there. Granted there are also probably people who would go just because they want a themed experience without necessarily thinking it's real. Cryptid tourism is an actual thing so some people want in on it.

Yeah, but picking these appart it's just so much fun to laugh my head off. It's fun to realize how exactly these apparently mythical beasts walk ammoung us. What is this giant bigfoot-like creature raming the wilderness? Maybe that's a small llama? moves creepily, indeed . . . Oh wait--I've got the scale wrong -- it's a bird, so it's got brown puffed out feathers, not thick fur. It's one of those very tall water birds with its feathers puffed out. I guess long legged water birds walking is kinda a creepy movement, when you can't make sense of it. Or this massive shapeless thing in the deep. What horrible monster blob is this? Why a jellyfish of course, and again, scale is quite deceptive. Hard no to feel bad for the leemur though -- it seems to have met with considerable injury. Whoever thought to repackage it as a demon animal? Odd that that presentation works so well, given these guys usually meet with human abuse because of how cute they are and stupid people trying to make them pets.

Yeah. At one point that guy had the bear cornered and that’s a bad thing to do to almost any wild animal, but to do it to a bear must be the supreme height of stupidity. Then he had himself cornered with the bear in front of him, which is also stupid! If the bear decides to get rowdy, he had no chance at escape at all. Even with skittish house cats I am careful not to corner them or corner myself because both are a good way to get scratched or bitten by a scared animal that wants you to go away and thinks it has no other choice. I take that kind of care with cats, or hamsters, or pet mice, but this guy is out here blundering around and cornering a friggin _black bear_ !

Bears that are "comfortable" with and accustomed to being around people are some of the most dangerous ones. When they are in a good mood (like this one is) they seem to be pretty harmless and easy to deal with. But, if it ever gets aggressive or stressed these guys would have been a mess.

@@katelillo1932 I'd assume it's easier to keep their tail up because more of their body mass is located towards their head instead of tail. In this case, sleeping with most of your head out of the water (whales can't breathe through their mouths unless they have an atavism condition) would be like trying to sleep while balancing a top on its tip; it's a point of unstable equilibrium. I'm guessing in calm water, their body is probably most stable in a vertical position.

About sharks, two things: 1. I saw some studies from biologists, mostly studying California great whites, stating that these sharks have one of the best eyesight's from all sea creatures, and that is very, VERY unlikely that they mistake surfers for sea lions or seals. What these biologists think happens is that the shark just happens to be passing by when a surfer is there and that the shark doesn't know if that "thing" is something that they can eat or not, so the only way to find out is by biting the surfer. 2. Another thing is that great white burn tremendous amounts of energy regularly, so they need to feed on high fat sea mammals, which means they actively chose to not eat anything that isn't a sea mammal due to the fact that they need high fat diets in order to not die, and if they digest other prey that cannot replenish that energy effectively, they will burn more energy than they get from the prey itself only from digestion, which is really interesting, they are really not looking to eat people at all!

to be fair theres plenty of humans especially off the coast of cali that have plenty enough fat for a shark to want to eat them lol. though they arent the same people that are out surfing and things regardless. This makes me wonder whether you could run a programme where you teach wild sharks that things which smell like surfboards aren't edible. I don't know if they're social enough to pass the information on between each other. Doping the surfboard with something which smells distinctive --- not necessarily bad, just something that makes it clear that this isn't a sea lion --- might help. It could be as easy as mooring foam buoys doped with this stuff out in shark territory. They bite this, discover it's not edible, so that they know not to try when they come across a surfer which smells similar.

I walked outside at Night with a headlamp on, and suddenly noticed a greenish yellow (you know, the colour of a Cats eyes when they reflect light) flicker on the street. So I was curious and went closer, expecting it to be either a reflective pebble or something man-made, like a piece of a broken reflector or something, and was really surprised that it was a tiny spider, about the size of my fingertip. And if you shone the light in just the right angle at it, it's eyes lit up. If it weren't for the reflective eyes, I'd have never even noticed the spider.

50:14 could still be a great horned owl as subarctic populations exhibit significantly paler coloration. If the footage was taken outside of North America then it would be a Eurasian eagle owl which exhibit similar population dependent coloration variants

I've walked out back and had a younger adult male black bear in my yard. He looked to be about 6'2, maybe 250 lbs. I'm 6'5, and was about 300 lbs at the time. He was standing and maybe 25-30 feet away. I instantly went into marine mode and started barking threats at him and I spooked him with my aggression. When he recoiled I started walking towards him and he bolted to the back of my yard behind cover. I yelled at him again and he scrambled over my fence and ran off.

thats a pretty massive black bear. altho they are more likely to try and hunt humans. a big guy like you is likely to scare it off of you make yourself look big and be loud. but be very careful not to corner it. as that makes it a lot more likely for them to become defensive. and you might be a marine. but no man is winning a fist fight with a bear.

Yeah that’s generally how you treat black bears (without cubs).

@@theflyingdutchguy9870 black bears are one of the least likely bears to seek out hunting a human, theres only more attacks because theres way more of them than brown bears or polar bears etc. Saying a black bear is more likely to hunt a human than another american bear is like saying dogs are more likely to hunt a human than any bear or big cat just because theres more attacks from them when the real reason for that is theres dogs absolutely everywhere

I think I'm going to argue for TikTok being both poisonous and venomous with the method of delivery being its algorithm. Since not everything on there is stuff you'd find only in the most foul of cesspits, when go looking for such things you're purposely consuming it and hence are poisoned but should the algorithm "inject" such toxic material into your feed, then one could argue that would be envenomation!
