Zoom virtual backgrounds NOT working? In this video, I'll help you troubleshoot your issues so you can start using the zoom virtual background without a green screen. There are a several steps to try yourself for different types of issues. The Zoom background effect is only works if your machine is compatible. There is currently no support for Zoom Virtual Backgrounds on iPhone 7 or under OR Android devices.

EXACTLY the same here.. Big mistake checking that. Please guy, help us (note: I only now realized that my i3 was not suited to the virtual bkgd. feature; fine. But, why won't it let you "force off" that checked box. I thought originally that to check that meant I have a green screen Image (not physical backdrop) and want to apply that. Can you help us VideoZeus? Follow up: Found how to look for updates thru your profile settings. Hit that so it seek an update. Let it find & run that. Once that's in, my room is now with no more green screen or virtual background options. No more switch stuck on. For the i3, this seems the best way. Yay!

Excellent. This confirms that since I upgraded Zoom some time in 2020, they stopped supporting virtual backgrounds my version of MacOS. It worked fine before.

It’s likely because your computer’s processor is not compatible with that feature. If you got a green screen, whether from Amazon or a green table cloth from the Dollar Store, it would work that way.

@@VideoZeus I have a MacBook Air 1.8 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5. My image also blends into the virtual background. Have tried to disable the ticked green screen and no can do. It looks like once it's ticked, there's no going back. I have removed Zoom and reinstalled it on the Mac and no joy either. Is there a solution to this?

Patty - try disabling the virtual background tab in your account then re-enabling it to see if that helps any.

Did you try updating your Zoom App? Or logging in to your account on a web browser? For Zoom, you have to manually adjust a lot of those settings from within a browser window (on a desktop usually). And then sign out of the zoom app on your iPad and then make sure it's updated to the most current version. Then sign back in.

I'm sorry, but I still haven't seen or heard an answer on being able to add a video as a virtual background on zoom on a laptop. Some of us can only add an image (no video option is showing). No videos on RU-vid will give a straight answer to this common question.

My computer is a 2019 Macbook Pro with 1.4ghz i5 processor and 8gb RAM. I have the option to set a virtual background, but it does a terribly poor job of recognizing what's me and what's the background. I've tried all sorts of rooms, lighting, etc, but nothing works. What else can I do?

Great information. However, I had already followed all of your suggestions. It seems like before ZOOM did the last series of updates my green screen worked perfectly. Now when I press the greenscreen button - it does just that - it shows my green screen and nothing else. I turned this in to ZOOM but have not heard back yet.

Same issue I am encountering. My macbook air meets the requirements and yet virtual background still not working properly. One difference I noticed from VideoZeus video is the camera. Mine says Facetime HD camera while @VideoZeus says HD Pro Camera. Can't select other options. Please help thanks

If still not working and only appears "add image" and not video it´s because of the camera of the computer. You need to buy an external webcam and then it will work. I know some persons that have done that and they didn´t have more issues.

It means without a green screen your Mac isn’t compatible. A cheap green screen is a green tablecloth you can buy at a Dollar store.

Green screen worked until I upgraded. Catalina on a Mac. What a pain. I can buy a green screen, but it would have to cover the hall, and my roommate would be stuck in one section of the apartment (or the other) whenever I'm on a zoom.

I have an issue I can't seem to solve or find help with, including with Zoom folks. I use slideshows to teach my classes. Because I want to be able to move around my slideshow in different orders, I export a Keynote slideshow into images and load them into my backgrounds. It used to be that I could then move in chronological order through those slides by clicking the right arrow key. Then, if I needed to go back a slide or two, it was easy. Now that I've been teaching for a while though, I have run into a situation in which the slides get added out of order. I suspect it could be because I am reusing parts of old slideshows inside new ones. I do delete slideshows after each class. Maybe I need to remove Zoom from the computer and add it back in later. If you have suggestions I would love them, as right now I have all the individual slides that I need for every class, and it would be a bit of a pain to have to reload them. I have same problem. year 2013 , your Mac OS version needs to be 10.13 or higher and, your processor must be an Intel Core i5 with a quad-core or better.

For those people who have trouble with your face blending in with a picture background, I was told to hang a green sheet, plastic or something behind you that will be in the background, then that solves the problem of your face blending in with the picture background. Please help! whenever I use a virtual background, my face and eyes get completely distorted. when I disable the background I don't have any issues. I use a HP Spectre x360 PC. Thanks in advance!! I have made sure everything is updated and even tried different lights, brighter lights, and even different cams. always the same issue no matter what I do. Sometimes the background will actually appear on my shirt and follow/fill the shape of it with the image...this is crazy. Thanks

I have the same problem. I have an Acer Laptop using i5-8250 processer. Any background image I chose, my image flickers and is not recognisable in any way. Any help would be appreciated.

I have used Zoom backgrounds for weeks. Found a nice tablecloth fabric at Walmart and loaded images on my desktop and into zoom for weeks it worked beautifully. Last week and not this week we have a fog over a portion of the image. No matter which background that I use the fog/cloud is there obscuring a quarter or third of the image. ???? Thanks

Check how bright/dark that area of the screen is. It may need more/less light there.

When I uncheck "I have a green screen", I too get the message that my computer doesn't meet requirements. My dell computer has an INTEL (R) CORE (TM) i7-3720 QM CPU @ 2.6GHz, with 16GB RAM.

Yep that’s a 3rd generation processor. If you have solid colored wall available you can use that as the “green screen”

Same here with the hair plus the border of my shirt and all around on the edges. That's my only problem....the fizzling kind of shaky edges. So far not finding a solution. (Have green screen, unchecked "mirror" etc.)

You illustrated the exact problem I've been having for weeks. I have NO virtual background tab in the client, but when I log in to the web portal, virtual background is turned ON. I've tried everything including, turning it off and back on, uninstalling/reinstalling, removed all "zoom" from my registry, re-installed.. I'm out of tricks to try.. anyone have any ideas? btw, I'm using a Dell i7 quad-core, 8 gig ram, windows 7.

It’s a real mystery why it works for some and not others. Give me the model number and I will look it up. Sounds like it has everything you’d need, but I want to check what generation the processor is to see if that is where the incompatibility occurs. Thanks for reaching out Jimmy.

Love the video however I cannot use an image I've uploaded unless I check the 'I have a green screen' box. My MacOS meets the requirements for using images without a green screen. If I uncheck the box the uploaded images are greyed out. Suggestions?? Thank you.

I’m not an expert, but I’ve heard this issue before. Once that box is checked, you’ll have the option to select the color to key out. If you in front of a wall, try selecting the wall and it may work. I have some other videos showing you how to do this. Most have went out and bought a green screen to correct it. video backgrounds used to work, and I can still add them, but when I select to display them, it just shows my green screen instead. This changed overnight and I didn't change any settings at all. Even the standard zoom video backgrounds of the beach and the northern lights don't work - they're there as options but when you select them, it just shows people my green screen. Photo backgrounds are working just fine.

many Dell notebooks have issues with Zoom virtual background due compatibility with Intel CPUs using the HD 620 graphics processor. in this case, we must use a physical green screen.

On a PC using Windows 10 and my system meets all the requirements. I have three issues. The first is that none of the regular Zoom backgrounds show up as choices for me to pick. The two videos are there, but I don't actually see the thumbnail, just a gray rectangle that says "video" and a description of the video if I put my cursor over the rectangle. I can't choose either of them, either. I am able to upload my own images to use as backgrounds, but Zoom does not save them, so I have to upload them again every time I am in a meeting. The last issue I have is that when I move into a breakout room, my background disappears (quite embarrassing when you are working from home in a very messy room!). I have to reload it (after uploading it again, as it doesn't appear in the background options). I actually have two Zoom accounts, one that is personal and one through work. I believe I am only having these issues on the account that I use through work.

I own a MacBook pro with an i5 processor. My zoom update is up to date. I checked on the website and the virtual background is on. I downloaded the new virtual background app from zoom website. I see hundreds of images under the labels, interior, travel and art. I logged out and logged back in. But when i select 'set background', I still get the message, 'an error occurred'. What do I do?

It's likely because the image you choose isn't big enough. If you're able try scaling the image to at least 1280x720 16:9, or find an image online at least 1280 pixels wide. There is a free tool called Kapwing that can help you resize images www.kapwing.com/?via=brian
