Just bought my 1999 pewter ZR2 this week . I looked for a while to find a good one . I found a bunch of regular 4x4s S10 but I just wasn't going settle for a regular one . Very happy with my purchase . It was worth the wait.

I have a 1996 ZR2 - I have had it for 10 years and just did a few major fixes. Transmission rebuild, etc. Has 275,000 on it. I agree about the money thing. What they are asking for new trucks is insane. Really enjoy and will not sell.

I’ve had to do a ton to my ZR5, one of the things that was a must was swapping the differential. Got the diffs out of a ZR2, do not regret that decision!

I have a gmc jimmy 2005 2 door zr2 bought brand new. It was the last year they made them. Same color as yours . Love it. Still fixing and driving hard.

I have a yellow 03 with 325,xxx on it. In 04 I paid 18,500 new. I found a camper shell with Yakima bars on it for $150 local. All glass intact, just had to replace seals and one lock. The rack carries the kayak and I built the camper into a sleeper.

I got my ZR2 for $3,500 and it’s in great condition. Only problems I have with it are from the owner before me! Great little truck.

Love all my Zr2's... I got a whole family of them, pickups and blazer models. Even got one with a carbed 350 under the hood of that beast

I had a 2001 ZR2, pewter. LOVED THAT TRUCK! Kick myself in the ass every day that I traded it. That 4.3L was a killer engine in that little truck

I have 2003 Zr2 manual with 150,000 miles on it. The 2 issues I have had is with the fog lights and ABS system, other than that everything has worked well. I live in Ohio so cab corners have been replaced , a truck cap has been added with a rack, the outside has been sprayed with Rhino liner. I also added a touch screen with 2 6×9 on the back wall with an amp.

My biggest regret was selling my zr2, i now drive a lexus and everyday I miss my old truck

As far as towing goes my 2002 pulls my 18ft aluminum bass boat (about 3k pounds total) without much issue, it doesn't like steep hills obviously but keep it in 3rd and it will go just fine and accelerate up most smaller hills. Get 14mpg towing it. Mine has 206k now, bought it with 133k on it and runs fine. Been a great vehicle. As far as after market, mine came with a CAI when I bought it but I put stock back on and prefer the stock performance. Maybe it was because the CAI it had was not shielded. About the only real issue I've had was chasing a problem with what seemed like to me low power and multiple misfire. Anyway I replaced multiple parts, pvc valve, plugs, wires, fule filter, basically a full tune up. When you replace parts use ac delco/delphi cause I cheaped out one the distributor cap and coil which was my problem, I changed it back to an ac delco and problem (s) solved. I've replaced alot of parts most of which were because I like to make sure it is fully operational and I know it's in good condition after the previous owner. The only items I HAD to replace due to wearing out other than regular expected stuff was fuel pump (my fault it failed). Upper and lower control arm bushing. And finally a ABS light that was cause by a soldering cracking with age in the ABS controller, opened it up and resoldered it. Things ive replace just because I want to make sure everything is good. Ball joints, tps, u joints, serviced tranny fluid and filter, serviced rear and front differentials, new rear wheel bearings and front hubs, new high flow cat with super 44 muffler, new o2 sensors, new used MAF sensor, new MAP sensor, pcv valve,new ignition coil, and MPFI upgrade with new fuel pressure regulator and new optima red top. There are a few other things I've replaced that broke that weren't really critical like the recliner handle for the seat but I replaced it cause I guess I'm nit-picky. I also installed LED bulbs in my rear lights, if you do this you will have to get a new resistor that goes under the glove box it think they are like 5 or 10 bucks and take 5 mins to replace well worth it for how much brighter they are. The truck has been reliable to a T and has never left me stranded it is very mechanically sound and has held up super well.Wipe down the inside with meguires wipes and wash and was it every couple months and shes good. Also since my profile pic was posted I have had her bedlined with black liner all the way around from the body line down. One thing to watch for is since my truck was originally from Missouri it rusted out in the fender wells where you can reach up onto of the steel. Mine started to try and eat it's way up the sides but I caught it in time befor it got up to the fender flares and cut out what I could and hosed the rest of it down with rust converter and primer so far it's held with no advance from the rust for a few months. Man this is long I'm sorry lol.

Should I get a zr5 or a 91 s10

I had a 02 ZR2 in the same color. It was a fun little truck, got me out of some tricky places. The only downfall was my gas pedal would stick on a semi-regular basis. The current gen Colorado's are nothing like a newer S-10. They're the same size as full-size trucks were 20 years ago, when the S-10 was being produced. Yes times are different, but you're also getting a lot more with the current ZR2 (lockers, diesel, DSSV dampers), and it's a bigger and wider truck than the S-10 ZR2.

Hey you mentioned putting a roof rack on it you'd need one from a 2 door blazer but it will require you to drill holes in the roof to mount it

i have a 94 than was 2wd with 2.2 auto . now it has a create 602 with a th350 , np203 transfer , 3/4 ton axles with disc brakes . trianglelated 4link with 2.5 inch 16 inch travel foa coilovers front and rear . 395/85R20 Goodyear MV/T tires with redbarn custom 20 x 11 rims .

I should of never sold my 1994 S10 4x4 ext cab. 2tone silver and black! Beast of a truck 5 speed Vortec, 4.3L... Damn it! Then bought a 2005 GMC Canyon ext cab 4x4 auto 3.5L V6 Vortec lifted on 35's. Sold that 4 Months later! And bought a 2008 Toyota Tundra Crewmax 5.7L iForce V8 2WD. So from owning a S10 to owing 15K for the GMC to 25K in debt for the Tundra! Damn it! I love your truck!

Back in 1999 I bought a pewter colored s10 zr2. Had to sell it a year later when found out that my baby daughter was due to be born in April 2000. So I had to sell my truck to get a vehicle where I could put a baby seat in the back of extra cab.

The aluminum skid plates are better than the carbon fiber ones in my opinion. The carbon fiber plates will crack or break when the aluminum plates will dent and actually stretch before breaking or getting a puncture.

mines came with a grandad bedcap. it is a 4door ext bed. and its extremely long for a compact truck. every 4door ive ever seen has a mini bed. but mines is full size. the cap had to go. but i am a fan of those racks and bars that go along the bedside

I love mine. Same color and everything. Put a 2" body lift on mine which helped alot. Yours is in better cosmetic shape than mine tho. But every bump, scratch and dent i have a very good story for. So i like mine better

98 does have the Carson fiber skid plate. But I love mine shes a little dented up and rusty but she has surprise me with what she can do, my wife lo e driving my truck

Nice ZR2. I have 2003. Towed 3000# Utility trailer to AK and back on Al/Can Hwy. Tows very well even with crappy Canadian gas (high ethanol content). Was wondering if you have had the front flairs off and if you were able to do it w/o removing front fenders or if anyone else knows how. i need to repaint and fix the rubber seals on mine.

i got a 4x4 crew cab and just redid the fuel system. new spider, new filter, new pump. my gas milage is pitiful. 10mpg. Anyone else have ths problem? Is it common? I m going to get a CAI and remove stock exhaust for better. I got 200k miles on a 2001. Love this thing. She runs great now, but thirsty as heck. It also has wheel spacers, 31" tires and GM wheels from a different S10. I want to remove the wheels for some lightweight steel wheels and maybe smaller tires. Thus getting rid of spacers as well. Any thoughts.>?

Too clarify: those tires are stock size-31x10.50x15, and the wheels are 15x8 with 3.5" backspacing rather than the stock 6" backspacing and you only had to do some light trimming? Great looking truck bud, just got one last week, 02 black 2nd owner. Unfortunately the lsst 2 years it was only used during the winter and sat the rest of the year. I had a 88 Baja.... That I put a ho 5.0 liter in... 4:10 gears .... Unfortunately I had to get rid of it... Rotted out in NY .. AS I was building my 95 zr2 short bed.... I put a lt1 out of a 96 Buick road master that has OBDII AND did the engine harness from the road master and the cab harness from a 97 4dr Blazer and a plow... Which I am going to redo... There will be a vid on that project probably next year... Had a 98 GMC Sonoma zr2... Have a 2002 zr2 Blazer and a 2003 zr2 Blazer when I redo my 95 pu... I say don't put a rack the truck instead put a camper shell that's even with the roof of the truck.

I like your tired I use to have a Chevy 97 blazer I have a lot of fun installing a front end on it I love tht vechile then I had a Chevy zr2 and that was good veichle too but my only was I blew my motor or gasket in the block and oil spilled every where actually recently it just happend to me wich sucks but man was it ever a fun truck to drive and parts were very reasonable for it I'm just bummed out tht it had to go I didn't get a full couple years on it it was an 05 but ethier way I still loved my truck ! I think Chevy trucks are great just my blew at a bad time but said and done I'm going to purchase another zr2 Chevy pick up th kinda has tht same look as urs in the video but it an 03 and the one I had was and 05 is there much difference between an 05 and a 03 chevy zr2

What kind of exhaust is on your truck I have a Flowmaster but it’s not that loud and the noise your truck made when first started is the noise I’m looking for. If you or anyone who knows can get back to me that will be fantastic

You addressed nothing about what the zr2 is, you talked about plastic dip and roof racks, totally useless video, How about addressing the bilstien shocks, bfg tires, upgraded factory axels with bigger ring gears....etc c'mon man

Mine is an 02,& I love it!! I looked at a new one years ago & it was $26,000. I couldn't believe it cost as much as a full size. Mine has carbon fiber skid plates too. Don't damage those fender flares!!! They are $450 EACH at our dealership & $580 at LMC truck catalog. They rust BAD!!! Typical S10. Yours looks awesome.

Hey Travis, awesome truck man! SO CLEAN!! Done a nice job with that little ZR2! Going to be checking out all your other vids on it. I see a push bar tumbnail that looks cool. Bought a similar 98 GMC S15 Highrider in mid 2017 for 2,500$! Got it from an old lady, only had 80,000km. (I'm from far northern Canada) The poor truck is rusted out from road salt. Having a hard time finding a good parts source for these ZR2 package trucks. Anyone have an idea on a website that would ship worldwide? I for sure need a couple body panels or patches. Mostly the lower stuff. Fender wells, rockers, floor pan etc..

Good looking truck! I have an 01 5speed that I just put a clutch in. Anyway if you have interest in a Cap I have one on mine that's for sale. Leer, sliding side screened windows, front sliding window that is removable, wired for 2 12volt outlets in back, carpeted interior with hanging racks and more features. Im just using my truck around the farm now so I need to be able to throw brush in it etc. Im also in Sumner County TN so I'm pretty close. Let me know if you want PICS.
