Nice video, about what what I expected from Zubat. About the next challenge (Pidgeot vs Fearow) that both learn nearly the same moves at the end but Fearow has the advantage on that. In the end it will be the bulk of Pidgeot vs the high damage of Fearow. And in these challenges bulkiness seems the most advantageous of the two.

I think Bite should have had more consideration. It was going really fast so I couldn't tell what vitamins you were buying but Zubat's base speed is salvageable enough to boost with vitamins and outspeed things (except for Lance's Aerodactyl). Bite is one of Zubat's best moves and can flinch which, when combined with Confuse Ray, makes things much safer for it. Personally, I would have gotten rid of Leech Life. Confuse Ray, Bite, Mega Drain and (Wing Attack for Stab Super Effective damage on some types) or (Double Edge for a high damaging move) would have been my choice for moveset. Mega Drain is a great move for Zubat because it lets it attack on the Special side of things and its Special is about the same as its Attack. It's a great way to take out Rock and Ground types and is its best form of recovery.

You let it evolve! and you fought mewtwo! this is great man keep doing that!

I do adore Zubat; but yeah, it's stats don't really shine through until it evolves so I can understand the pain of sticking with just Zubat. This video was fantastic here; the pause sequence and rapping lass were hilarious edits and I'm always impressed with how well you utilise Mimic in these videos. Also, love the after credits moment!

Awesome video. You're stubbornness/determination is world class. Im doing a gold playthrough using only Larvitar at the moment, its had some challenging points but seeing you do this with zubat makes my playthrough look like a cake walk lol

I never noticed Blaine's flamethrower tie before! Which is to say, I would never have noticed it if you didn't include the little splash of sugimori art before the gym battles. I have to say the level of polish lately has been incredible. I love seeing the Pokemons current stats in gym battles, and the differences between attempts. It's just an incredible touch. Looking forward to Big Bird next week. I hope my Gen 1 darling, Pidgeot, can make a decent showing despite its mediocre stats.

So we learned something... Zubat is worse than Pikachu. Fitting! Loved it! You know what Scott... I would love to see you at the end of each battle for that Mon you used the challenge to take on Mewtwo like you did with Zubat. That would be very fitting and cool!

Oh that was a run filled with miracles one after the other, the only thing you could do is to pray that you won't have to reset again. Zubat is really frail, whenever i use one for a nuzlocke, I always hope that it won't die, before finally evolving it. So good job, for attempting this run again, and learning a lot ever since your Red run with it. Im not sure if you could have done Erika first and then Surge, in order to decrease the amount of resets in this run, and I think that it would have helped reducing game time and real time as well. Or maybe teaching swift earlier for the Surge fight, would have helped as well. So whenever you're doing a run with a frail water type or with a flying type, make sure to do Erika first for the exp, to beat Sruge with an ease. And by the way, I'm really looking forward for the early kanto birds vs video. 😊

NICE, almost miss the vs Newtwo at the end, Great Video. BTW, interesting fact you may or may not know, it's possible to get 5 free pokeball at the beginning portion of game, I never tried this and I bet a lot of people missed this entirely, because this seems like a handicap the game provides for player if gets too hard at beginning, kind of like safari zone entering at yellow, if run out of money, at red & blue you can forget about entering and if you haven't get Surf, you're doomed, but in yellow, keep on talking to gate keeper you will get to enter for free with a single safari ball; anyway requirement for 5 free pokeball is you have to Defeat rival at optional battle at route 22(if you skip the battle and got boulder badge 1st from Brock, this became permanently skipped, I have no idea if you battle rival at nugget bridge 1st, will this still be possible or not because I never tried this), then you must not have any catch ball on you, no catch data in your pokedex and not a full bag(if you have full bag a glitch will happen stating you receive 5 free pokeball and you will never be able to receive them again), go back to Oak's lab talk to Professor Oak, he will give you 5 free pokeball, again I never tried this, you can see why this is easily missed by player, plus if you want to be time efficient, this actually seems like a hassle.

As intersting as the base pokemon are, I'm curious to see how the evolved forms will fair. I feel like they might be too easy, but those also might make for some quicker videos. Either way glad to see another upload, keep up the good work!

Kinda offtopic, but Nidoran Female is adorable with her cheeky lil grin! Generally I prefer the Red/Blue sprites, but Yellow has its gems. I don't think I've ever (consciously) seen the Nidoran Fenale Yellow sprite before, so that was a nice surprise.

You’re a beast dude! Love the videos! Have you thought about doing tag team VS videos? Like butterfree and beedrill VS dustox and beautifly. Or tauros and miltank VS gyarados and milotic. Or the nido’s VS someone. Having an extra Pokémon on your team during these playthroughs just opens the door for some interesting strats.

That seemed so painful and I'm sorry that you almost gave up because of the first time with Zubat. It really seems one of those pokémon make just for the enemies to use and spam against the player so it's forever weak.

Idea for a run. Play Yellow as Jesse and James. Start the game with a Koffing and you should have the full team after second gym. It should be doable since you did a Meowth only run, but would be entertaining to see Jesse and James become League champions and bring some glory to Team Rocket for once lol. You can evolve the Koffing and the Ekans but not Meowth.

This is probably the most steadily moving Zubat run I've ever seen.

Truck might have always been a myth, but there is actually a glitch for catching Mew and it can be performed just after clearing nugget bridge. I've used it frequently for an all-in-one HM slave, especially in solo runs.

In terms of playthrough, Golbat is the worst fully evolved Pokémon you can use in gen 1. The strongest move you get via level up is Bite. A normal type move in gen 1 (also wing attack has the same power as peck in gen 1). The TM move pool is horrible too. Only learning normal type moves and mega drain. Golbat does get confuse ray, but confuse ray just turns battles into luck and luck isn't reliable at all

Poor Bruno, even in a Zubat run he gets the hiker treatment.

I agree with skipping haze, since you only have so many spots for moves you really need to use the best of the meager move pool for zubat. Also I think bite is a better move than swift. Swift’s only advantage is that it can’t miss, however bite can flinch. Perfect accuracy is nice, but I think the chance to flinch makes up for it

If there's one positive I can give the newer Pokémon games, it's that they gave Leech Life an unbelievable buff. Like, wow, that move can do some damage in the newer gens.

i just recently finished my firered playthru! charizard, primeape, butterfree, cloyster, parasect, raticate was the final team. AND primeape was the MVP. i remember i was in the middle of that playthru when i watched mankeys vid. my next playthru of it ive decided im gonna use a zubat now. confuse ray/toxic is one of my favorite combos and its been ages since i used a golbat (or crobat honestly.) annoyer pokemon are surprisingly good for casual play cause their disruption makes them kinda fake tanky. (more so with ev investments obviously) wonder how this is gonna go solo however.. edit: sand attacking devil lmao 😂 so im actually playing leafgreen right now (firered didnt fully scratch the itch i guess lol) and sandshrew is exclusive to it so its on my team this time around and its incredible honestly, defo a mon i havent used much. this run is turning into SUCH an adventure omg, the 13 hp survive. that went about as well as i figured it would have honestly and the ending was super cute. most annoyer kinda pokemon ive found will still die in like 1 - 3 MAYBE 4 hits if the gimmick fails to disrupt enough. also shout out to u turn in the later gens giving so many annoyers a way to set up then get tf out. not that itd be useful for solo but anyways. thanks for the vid as always 💖✨

Sabrina probably doesn't have good AI in Yellow because all her attacking moves are Psychic type. The only non-Psychic moves she has are Abra's Flash and Kadabra and Alakazam's Recover, which she would constantly spam against Psychic-types if she had good AI.
