I hope this gives Zwift the necessary kick up the proverbial backside to satisfy the many long-term users who just use the platform for general riding and fitness. While some new functionality such as clubs is very welcome the lack of love towards core Worlds has been a real sticking point. By now Watopia should be twice the size, the same for London. Neither has seen any significant expansion for a long time.
Already quit zwift. I have been with this platform from the beginning and wonder where my money gone. Liked the social aspect but not so much as a good training and I often ride along so having to ride same route over and over again is boring as F... Now trying new Wahoo platforms and having fun. Furthermore I noticed that wahoo plans have better effect on my fitness.
Great summary. I’ve done 10,000+ km’s on Zwift over the past 2 years so it’s all got a bit too familiar so I’ve decided to switch to Wahoo for a few months to see how it goes. I see RGT as a nice bonus in the $15 SYSTM subscription from what I’ve seen so far. There’s a lot of potential in the Wahoo products but at the moment they are 2 very separate products. You could do a race on RGT and SYSTM doesn’t know anything about it (I know it’s only been 2 weeks so it’s unrealistic to expect integration yet). I think it’s a really exciting time ahead and hopefully will bring lots of innovation as the 2 big players fight for market share.
Despite Zwift's flaws, I gravitate towards it since I don't do much or any racing anymore. Just want to get some fixed miles/calories burned per day and make that as interactive as possible so it doesn't feel like a chore. Zwift seems to be best at that, particularly with its pace partners.
After your last video, i tried out the systm app and wow. I'm very impressed. I ve been among time zwift user and this has open the door. I really hope wahoo push both apps. Add marathon training and straight to your device connection for running workouts. Also push real world courses in rgt, they do this and I feel they will give zwift a run for there money
RGT offers what made me quit Zwift and go with Rouvy - creating your own routes. I think riding real life routes is what makes indoor training the most fun, so you can have the same experience in winter as if you were riding outside. Might try this one out.
I've been an RGT user over the last year. The price point of 8,99 (or so), which is was before the take over from Wahoo, was the right price point. It is not worth 15 euro/dollar a month.
Also, if you have a real road race coming, you can practice on it with RGT (as if you're there) by uploading the gpx file of the race route to RGT. Zwift has NO ability to do that at the moment, but who knows... they're probably developing a similar thing already.

The Magic Road looks great and I can see athletes using it to get ready for goal races. With Wahoo and Rouvy offering this capability now, it would seem that Zwift has a significant hole in their offering that they will have to answer. I would like to see Zwift look into cornering dynamics as well. Taking a mountain switchback at 50 mph just never seemed right.
I got an Atom recently, and have just started on Zwift. For me the only thing I'm after is an experience to make it more interesting than just pedalling -- not really the competitive side, though that may come later -- right now I just want to get fitter.
One of RGT's most appealing features was the price, with the price increase I don't seen a reason why I shouldn't switch to Swift. I really liked RGT but almost doubling the price (I believe it was 8,99) just because it is Wahoo now is an insult to RGT's legacy users.
RGT has basically limitless routes (use existing magic roads or use GPX Magic to create good quality magic roads: one can’t simply upload low quality GPX files). Even at the same price I think it’s the better option if real world roads see more important to you than riding fantasy roads.
We can put graphics, physics, UIs, etc aside online game platforms are always about number of players and games. Until RGT can post 10s of events an hour with 100s of riders per event instead of 10s a day with 10s of bots they are gonna have a hard time attracting zwift users. They might attract the riders who use zwift for pure solo structured training that want a change of scenery. But as things stand now the riders who primarily ride social events (group rides, group workouts races and pace partner) will not go anywhere. Thanks for really good content
I think people are still in Zwift because they are too lazy to switch, because Zwift offers just enough to them to keep going and they do not wanna give up what they achieved on their avatar already. I quit Zwift long ago because it lacks the main reason I do indoor training and that is riding real life routes and routes I created myself. if magic roads works well I might get interested!
@@flameforge no idc for graphics that much - I care for as much outdoor experience as I can get on the routes - I mainly use Rouvy because I can transfer my hometown routes to the engine and ride them quite accurately. also I like how you can visit real places around the world with captured video so you can actually see what it looks like there. If i'd want a video game I would stick to zwift, but thats not what I use indoor training for. During winter I am preparing for new PRs or KOMs on my favourite routes and if I am fast in Rouvy it translates almost spot on to the outdoors too.
Appreciate your videos. Your tone is just right, and you invariably tick off the questions on my sketchy mental outline in something like the order they'd occur to me. It's smart, enjoyable stuff. How RGT handles Magic Roads and their larger in-game context seems pivotal. As others have said, the empty roads on RGT's platform are in part because of just how many routes are available. Real locations means no real overlap, and that's a tricky thing to handle if you have a smaller user base; your riders are literally scattered over the world, with each person riding more or less in isolation. Toss in rather generic landscape elements, and you have a feeling of monotony. That being said, there are drawbacks to Zwift's level of use too. Even in some of your examples here, I had some of the reaction I had when first joining something like a Tour Du Zwift event: With a crowd like that, and everyone in the same kit, how easy is it to even recognize one's own avatar?? We should be able to *see* ourselves, right? Emphasizing social aspects is a choice, sure, but pretty often in a big event I feel like what I'm watching is a sort of crowdsurfing, with indistinguishable heads jostling around in a mass of color. It'll be good fun to see how these two products define edges and space for each other over time. Will there be adaptive radiation into segments of the market that haven't seen much attention? RGT could use a series of Magic Roads to stage a cross-country TT race over many days, and things like that.
Recently discovered the ‘on location’ descriptions in Wahoo SYSTM include the code for an Wahoo RGT GPS file. Makes sense as you get to simulate the gradients in RGT whilst watching the workouts in Wahoo SYSTM. It’d be nice if you could do the same with “pro rides” but the drafting is much more significant in pro-rides because the groups are much bigger, whereas in “on location” there is often only 1 other rider, so you’d end up with a big difference in position between the SYSTM and RGT. Even then the SYSTM targets are for that person’s power/wt ratio. Don’t know how it works as my front mech cable is bent and so didn’t try it. Beginning of an integration between Wahoo’s two platforms though… at least on systems that can run both platforms simultaneously.
I don't know much yet about Wahoo or Zwift, but I like the Wahoo System feature with Yoga and swimming options. Just dipping my toe in now, with a minimal system invested, and may upgrade my dumb fluid trainer for a smart one for resistance programs. But I'm wondering if Wahoo system will be stimulating enough with its lesser social interaction that Zwift offers.
@@rodneyjung575 also included are Wahoo-RGT real world simulations (they just bought it and rebadged it with a small amount of integration). and they have voice/text chat. Smaller user base though. There are also races but they seem mostly robots. Last 2 races I did I came second to a robot & sixth to an entirely robot top 5. Did a group ride intending to take it easy & it was harder than a race. I suspect a social element exists but is harder to find than on Zwift. I’ve certainly not seen it, but then not looked for it. Text chat is useless though once you’ve got sweaty hands & that is platform independent. I have s “bike thong” with a phone holder: completely pointless without built in windscreen wipers as you end up having to remove the phone and dry your hand to use it. Voice chat seems a lot better idea, but they really need a wake word, like Alexa or ‘ok google’. as to talk you still have to press one button. Remarkably good at removing fan noise without voices sounding weird though.
Priced higher than Zwift now , I used to use rgt but since merged with Wahoo the price has gone to one of the highest on trainer subscriptions, RGT need more courses and group events to justify the price it only used to be £7.99 which was great value ,they only offer one free course now compared to 2 yes they don’t have to offer any as it’s free , also there is no direct pairing to Garmin Connect ,you have to create a download from an email if you want to send it to your Garmin connect activity dashboard, think I’ll stick with Zwift for now and hopefully try rgt again if more value for the cost becomes available
Thanks for this information. I think I am done with Zwift and I might try RGT. Zwift just lost the data from my last 6 rides and when I put in a support request they gave me the big FU. Had numerous glitches from them and they seem to take zero responsibility for the quality of their product. Hopefully with Wahoo is running this project it will just get better with time, maybe throwing in some support now might help it move along quicker.
@@crador99 I guess I am six months into my WahooX subscription (from the date above). It's been all good so far, liking both the RGT and SYSTM aspects, no fuss, no crashes, no data loss. As an old school Sufferlandrian it's been a nice experience to work back through some of those videos in 'smart mode'. Magic roads has been great for training for specific events. I don't suppose Zwift are crying over my lost subscription but as a matter of policy I always ditch any supplier who shirks their customer service and support. Otherwise you are just telling them it's OK and really inviting more of the same.
I would love to see the Magic roads function actually directly linked to the app, in that you can select your GPX route via a direct link to a route creator then drop it into the Magic Roads area of the main app, I guess this would be viable with a collaboration with one of the main course creation services???, it would also mean any route would be structured to optimise the RGT engine. If RGT can get more real world users I would seriously consider the swap, I have been using their 14 day trial recently and I really like the look of the routes and I have not had any unexpected connection issues but riding in a empty world is lonely as hell which is ironic as I ride alone 99.9% of the time in the real world. Zwift was the first mover in this space, they have the community and thus there is always a race to enter as a result, I think they may need to look at pricing for the monthly plan to get more people over and then build a community from there. I like Zwift because of the social events and have real people riding with you. This is the reason that I can keep going with indoor riding. I used Tacx software before and was bored fast.
I'm looking forward for the development on RGT. I think Zwift might have the advantage in the world environment because there's so many turns, forks, roundabouts and different routes in a larger world. whereas RGT has a nice realistic world but isn't large and complex enough for different routes like Zwift.
Wahoo RGT has got great potential but at the moment there are various issues that are off putting. 1. First and most important for me is the lack of users. That means very few people on the "Just ride" option and very limited events with very few people again, sometimes 3-4 only. 2. Similar level of fitness of users. Since there are very few riders on the course, it is very difficult to find someone that rides the same pace as you, which means that even if you find users online, you ride on your own 95% of the time. 3. Avatar customization and equipment. You can only choose between white, black and asian male/female but no face, hairstyle and hair color. Also there are very few bikes, helmets and sunglasses available to choose from and the available options are kinda meh. 4. Realistic routes but very few again. 5. Pace bots/real bots to compensate for the lack of users. Come on guys, riding with a robot is not the same as riding with an actual human being behind that screen.
I was nearly ready to quit RGT this morning. The lack of users doesn't bother me too much, but I do prefer riding in groups and often don't understand why more people aren't getting together on the shorter courses. My frustrations are 1) I can't minimize the screen in order to look at anything else on my computer without completely ending my ride. 2) It's difficult to stay in the draft without feeling like you need to always be riding harder or coasting. It's difficult to just enjoy riding with someone without drifting back or up too far. 3) When in a group if you come up to a slower rider, you'll literally get stuck behind that rider and pushed off the back of the group. That makes no sense. I wish they would build code that makes so when you're within a certain distance and for a certain length of time to the rider in front, it becomes much easier to stay steady behind the rider. For example, if the rider I'm drafting picks up the pace for 5 seconds by 0.3w/k I shouldn't have to deal with the anxiety of watching my draft become less and less, forcing me to accellerate harder than I need and then nearly overtaking the other rider... followed by coasting to fall back and so on and so forth until I settle back in.
I just started riding RGT when Wahoo bought them (already had a Sufferfest membership) and I started riding Zwift just a few weeks ago. There are definitely some pros and cons to each. Zwift appears to have a big head start for route options and I think that Zwift's interface is easier to navigate than RGT's is. For example, if you are looking for a race in RGT, you create the filter to see what time races are at but if you want to go back and look at another race you have to do the filter again. There's also just not enough races in RGT and usually it only shows there are a few people signed up for it. Most of the time more people join in the race than are listed but it's off putting to think about joining a race when it only shows there are 3 riders signed up. Still not sure which platform I like best though.
It is really difficult to find a gym that allows me to pair these apps. I want a gymcade an arcade but with gym equipment. Boxing? Use vr to train your punches. Running or biking, zwift has you covered. Stair stepper, fireman or medic related vr game. We have golf simulators, we can simulate using a bow, there is an infinite rock wall climbing machine. I want to have a gymcade to work on my gains.
@@Cathy_MidwestHome_Hens The outline of the route is accurate, but if it's one of the fantasy worlds, it will be overlaid over some real world map, such as the Solomon Islands. Of course, there may be some copyright considerations if they tried to use the Zwift maps.
Excellent video as always 👍 I've not trained for a few years but have bought myself a Wahoo Kickr and have a bike so I'm going to join one of these two. It feels a bit daunting, I'm overweight and out of shape, I think whatever platform offers the best structured training for beginners to build a base will be my choice

Look up rewards bundling. For example, make a hard rule to only watch a given TV show WHILE you're on the bike. You're then allowed to binge all you like. If so, use ERG mode so you don't have to think about which power to maintain (obviously you shouldn't just sit on the bike and watch tv shows, you're supposed to pedal). I just spent two hours on the turbo watching the equalizer with Denzel Washington. Stupid movie, wonderful to keep me entertained while moving the legs
Been a Zwift user for 4 years plus now and yes the drafting although slightly improved is far from reality. I dont or haven't involved myself with the social or various group functions, but retiring in the next few months and will be looking into this. What I haven't seen or unaware of is age based grouping coupled with know average speeds for specific distances. Is this available in Zwift, especially the age grouping. Im not a racer and not at a fanatical consumed rider, Im a 70yo that does pretty good for his age and rides 4 to 5 times weekly.
I'd love RGT to move up to compete with Zwift. But honestly, the graphics (and lack of sound) in RGT just does not compare to Zwift. I don't race on Zwift, or do group rides. I'm there to ride on my own and the visual and audio feedback are key to making the workout feel like a 'real' ride. RGT is a huge step backwards in that regards. Wahoo even mentioned that they know this, so I'm hopeful RGT will now have the money to improve the graphics... and add some sound please?
Sorry but this is backwards. Zwift is much more gamey-feeling than RGT is, and this "feedback" you're looking for is precisely what makes it feel so gamified. Stripping down the alerts to just segments and lap chimes is much more like real-life riding. I mainly ride just by myself and my default is to put on a podcast to listen to, while RGT handles everything else.
I've tried TrainerRoad and Wahoo for 5 and 2 months. The social effect on Zwift, along with it's route management and graphics is just enormous. You're never alone. Not only is there probably someone, they're probably overtaking you at the moment giving you a goal to aim at. The only thing that MIGHT make me switch is a native Linux client. Neither Zwift nor any competitor managed to create one. Or even a remotely easy to emulate Windows client to just throw into wine or proton; lot's of customization required. They're actually going out of their way to make it less accessible :| The one thing really annoying me in Zwift is that bigger riders always just seem to barrel away from me in rollers or downhill. Drafting implementation and lack of braking at sharp corners seems to favor bigger frames / higher weights.
After trying RGT and comparing what Zwift had to offer it was a no brainer for me...RGT all the way- I hate racing and the egos that come with it, and am happy pacing myself anyway.... The free version of RGT allows an 8km loop, fairly flat called "Borrego Springs" with 2 defined sprint sections, and a new one called "Dunoon" (here in Scotland, yay!!!) which is 14km with 312m ascent and is "gravel" based...it's brilliant and if you want you can just change direction at the start and go the other way for a different elevation profile. I subscribed last night and the Magic Roads feature is amazing- already have 2 of the Teide epics on Tenerife (2000m+) and a couple of ones I made for the hills near my house so I can practice them when it's snowing and icy outside...I've barely looked at the other bit "SYSTM" yet but it's full of stuff and has the "Half Monty" and "4DP" fitness tests too.... Zwift looks far too cartoon/gamer with made up places "Neokyo and Watopia"...probably get chased by dinosaurs or Sonic the Hedgehog......
Someone needs to work on integrating smart bikes and workout systems with video games. It would be so much more awesome to ride around in the Red Dead Redemption or Grand Theft Auto worlds with as free roaming and developed as they are. Or even eventually the new Microsoft Flight Simulator engine that incorporates real world models with AI to flesh out the roads and buildings and foliage based on satellite footage so they can easily model the entire planet. You could use that to free ride anywhere you want on any route you want with a few modifications to tailor the AI-generated world geometry to cycling on the ground instead of flying in the air. Not to mention the VR headset integrations that are already part of several video game engines that would just translate right over to a cycling sim. Soooo many possibilities! The cycling world needs to really sync up heavily with the tech world and get the two working together because what could be created would be mind blowing.

I'd love to roam GTA and every now and then get to whack someone gratuitously because i hit my intervals numbers or something. Or have GTA missions where you have a limited time to go from a to b. Zwift is just lame.
One thing to point out is when doing a workout on Zwift, you are NOT constrained to the three worlds offered that day. You can ride any route, in any world, no matter what day it is.
would like to see the sufferfest calendar properly integrated with trainingpeaks so you can import workouts and see wots scheduled. sufferfest also uses a very strange metric for determining running workout intensity. pace, watts, or percentage of max heart-rate would be preferable. i prefer the non-social, “far from the madding crowd” quality of sufferfest training.
The crowd can be overwhelming at times in Zwift for many. They seem to be opening more roads to spread out the crows. But good to see so many people riding and training indoors. Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Cornering will be a difficult thing to make realistic unless the industry begins to integrate brakes and steering into the trainers, but that would also imply that the player's bike isn't stuck "on the rails," so to speak.

The thing I don’t like about rgt is you can’t pause a ride and then restart it like you can in Rouvy kinomap FulGaz and zwift, also I have no idea how to upload a gps file to create my own ride
Zwift so far holding up only because it has community. Decent compefitors are must, otherwise it will stagnate at basically same stage it was near 2017. Only singnificant change was doubling a subscription fee. Sad, because you can not even pass above lvl 50.
Am I the only cheap ass reluctant to pay fifteen bucks a month for that? Subscription businesses are like a plague to me. One of my biggest fears is Garmin switching to a subscription business

Can't confirm all you said. 1) Cornering in Zwift is not realistic, but that's okay. It's a game design decision. 2) Drafting feels pretty natural in Zwift. 3) RGTs avatar tries to be realistic, but fails in a way it feels akward.
Does magic road actually work now? Smoothing and everything? ~2 years back it was a real pain to get anything else than a mad rollercoaster out of it...

I have been using the tacx real live set up for many, about 15, years now. The hardware that comes with it, trainer etc, is starting to wear out, can't find replacement parts. I am looking to get a new trainer setup, wahoo, tacx etc and computer configuration? I am sure you have some tips.
Have done lots of races on RGT. Often there is someone (or two) who are either world tour professional cyclists of cheating. Suspect the lack of notoriety for cheating is just because there are fewer users. Definitely happens. Rarely is there no one. I just ignore them. Just compete with the people doing reasonable W/Kg & ignore the people who shoot ahead. Incidentally, there are running videos on Sufferfest (and Tri ones). Not many, but they do exist. The library size could definitely be increased but there are a few. Not sure where they are on the new SYSTM app. Edited to add: if you pair a running power device with the app in addition to a cycling one it won’t automatically switch between them during brick workouts last time I tried, which is annoying.
Geart video. I've never ridden an indoor trainer before but thinking of buying one. Does Zwift and Wahoo both work off just the app so you could use any indoor trainer? For example, could I buy a Wahoo Kickr and run Zwift? Thanks

I have the Wahoo kicker 6. I'm from South africa. It is paired with zwift, but I want to train our local big events and races, such as the Joburg 94.7ride. The Capetown cycle event and Cape epic. If I subscribe on the wahoo X will I be able to do that. Regards Johanette

I actually like that Zwift's default draft effect 50% as most of the time I want to get a workout, but like doing the group rides. If draft was realistic (ie 100%) I wouldn't get much of a workout while riding with the pack. I'm 50/50 when it comes to racing, 100% draft would be more realistic, but would it make for better races? I dunno. In any case I'm glad to see that Zwift might have some competition in this space as the consumer will benefit no matter which platform you use.
That’s one way of looking at the draft in Zwift. I think sometimes it makes it a bit harder to ride in a pack cause I’m expecting some draft help but then realize I had to keep pressure on the pedals 😆. But like you said, you get a better workout. I think no matter how realistic they try to make them, they will continue to lack the real feel of riding outside. Thanks for the feedback and watching 🙏🏼
@@SmartBikeTrainers If you do workout on Wahoo RGT drafting effect won't affect your riding, so you can ride on any map with other people who will experience drafting effect, while you can focus on your workout.
Will you be able to add climbing meters to Strava from WahooX as Wahoo System climbing cannot be addded to your monthly climbing meters when downloaded to Strava.
RGT asking the same price of Zwift won't help the platform to increase it's population. At $10 bucks, even with the current bad exchange rate, I would give RGT a go, but at $15, Zwift is a better option once I can pay $10 signing with iOS in my region.
Hello friends, can you help me? I bought a Kirck wahoo roller and I want to make use of the 14 free trial days but they ask me for a card number for when the 14 days are up........how do I do the trial only and on the 13th day give me low if I don't like it? Can you help me?
I hope Wahoo will integrate the existing apps in wahoo RGT and adds a workout creator. The magic roads are a bit boring. With the events they have the options to choose between "classic" and "Spring". The second one has more road surfaces and more scenic differentiation. There are even showers from time to time. Hope the road surfaces will be more accurate too the real world, so you can create gravel-routes as well. If the magic routes improve and all Wahoo app's are integrated, Wahoo RGT will be a serious competitor to Zwift. Chatting is already possible and if Wahoo is able to create a bigger user base, the social aspect will be fine too. Hope RGT won't evolve to be like a cycling game as Zwift is.
It will be interesting to see how things evolve with Wahoo X and how they grow their apps. Going to be interesting years ahead for sure. Thanks for the feedback and watching 🙏🏼

Can you do a video on the RGT set up? I am a Zwift user and wanted to try RGT but had issues with the set up. I’m not sure if there were bugs or I just didn’t set it up correctly. Either way I deleted it because I couldn’t get it to work. I’m using AppleTV and the H3 for the apps.
Sorry to hear you had issues with setup. I will look into making a video explaining the setup process. Sounds like a number of people are having issues as well.
Love getting smashed by A,B and C riders who enter D grade Zwift races, as can be checked on zwiftpower. Yeah sure they get booted out of the zwiftpower results but it really wrecks the platform for me when you enter a race thinking you will be able to hang on and then you get smashed.
Spot on! The worlds look just like PCM. Very low ambience. That said if they would add all the races of PCM to RGT and the team aspect as well then I’d definitely ride!
I don't see people jumping off zwift? ... RTG somehow now looks and develops better that before BUT! here is the profanity and shade cover your eyes if you want, there is a social component of indoors that one of this two animals bark better, and also one of this animals do not need to claim just deliver... and the las bark one of this animal does is that relate also on the gaming side experience where you are not hold hostage in the same routine workout or just have fun iseasy... 3 aspects other platforms want to but never have to is power ups... gaming!!! and yes the gear matter... then your virtual garage grows as well you do along... and the cherry on top the nowadays pacers or bots... that give you just a jump in ride along hold this pace exercise and make your hrs side by side to other people... the animal that barks is zwift if you didn't even notice by now, you see RTG and others hold you into something that does not make you comeback.
You should have mention RGT Bot racing: perfect if you want to train in a dedicated power range. And very funny since these Bots behave like real racers.
I’ve done a half dozen races and about 500km on RGT and from my experience it looks very under baked, the avatar movement is poor and in APAC time zone there are absolutely zero riders (ever). There are hardly any courses and in my opinion you need a very vivid imagination with magic roads. Some people say it’s just like IRL..which IMO it isn’t even close, it’s just got a slightly stickier draft than Zwift. I hope Wahoo put some money into RGT so it’s a viable option but for now I will stay on Zwift.
RGT graphics make Zwift look like a joke in almost every way - EXCEPT zwift have nailed the avatar animation. I couldn’t live with the spidery freakishness of the RGT avatar.
Interesting, I find RGT graphics a joke compared to Zwift. Zwift does have a more cartooney style but if you look at trees, water, light and general ambience of the worlds I find zwift to be so much nicer.
Come on guys, all platforms sucks with graphics. Zwift graphics are the same since 2015. And all other platforms are using unity engine, so the graphics look old too. When you play a real video game like forza horizon and then you jump on your trainer, your eyes are bleeding… I’m really waiting for a platform that will provide modern graphics.
I have been on these platforms for years, and nobody cares if an avatar slows down in a corner or not, you have no benefit from it. Zwift is way more advanced in Graphics, whereas the Wahoo World is boring as most only consist of trees. In Group dynamics, both of them suck badly. In the real world, it's my fault if I place myself shitty in a group, but on Zwift and Wahoo, it's a significant disadvantage if the System cheats you and you cannot do anything about it. Zwift cheats the hell out of Wahoo kickr / Kickr Bike riders. I'll not get started on it; it's for the better. In the end, it's just a fitness app to keep in shape for me.
Zwift is a ripoff for what it costs. Look at what MMORPG's offer for the same monthly price. I don't understand why improving the game is so difficult. One thing I wish any platform offered was on-demand racing. I'm a nerd, and played World of Warcraft for years. You don't wait for certain times to play battlegrounds etc. You join a queue, and when enough people are in queue, you can join the battleground. Why can't we do that for racing? Say you can queue up for a 30 min long race at ANY time. Once you get a certain number of people for what category you're in, boom you can join and get transported to the race track for a race. I don't understand why that's so difficult. This crap when it's only at certain times suck if you work full-time.
I agree with you and that’s what RGT has been trying to do in a way. I think most of the issues most indoor cycling face aside from the obvious financing issue is the number of users. There is just not enough indoor cyclists to create features you see in popular video games that are being played by millions worldwide vs a few thousands at best. This is why Zwift has been limiting number of open routes to create that social environment.
It’s a numbers game. Look at games with low online numbers like EA NHL where it’s super hard to find a decent online game because there simply isn’t enough players at your level in your region at any given time. Also workouts/races work a little bit different. Since you can’t do 5-10 a day you need to ensure quality before you do your workout/race of the day. Which makes users much more willing to plan.
Really? You're going to go there? I am not much of a racer, but during the day, I find I can go into the events schedule and find races of all kinds starting at all times. I'm not sure what you're looking at.
