Still remember LaGrange here in Melbourne Australia on the radio when it first was released. I still love them to this day all the years later. Awesome!
@@EWilky They are definitely using backing tracks. Very noticeable when 3rd verse starts, music stops for Billy’s single guitar note and there are 2 at slightly different times. They use backing tracks on all their 80s stuff because it has heavy syncopated synth in the music.
It might sound a little sloppy and there sure is some tape reeling along with them or some off stage instrumentalists, but these guys still have the best, recognizable and most consistent sound!
I've been a fan forever, and I have to say that I've always loved the bit of sloppiness in ZZ Top shows that makes it feel alive even with the synth parts mixed in. Take note upcoming musicians - you can strive for perfection in your playing but it isn't the end goal for a truly great rock and roll performance.
To be fair it’s just reinforcement for pretty trivial parts, and isn’t present for most of the song, plus it’s live soloing. I think it was badly mixed here and possibly even misaligned to whatever click they’re playing to. Should just have a tech play the parts off stage if they think they’re that important though.
It's a shame not knowing what's really played live, and what is coming somewhere from space ....... vocals, guitars, chorus ........ there seems to be pretty much going on from external SSD! Lol ..... ZZ Space!
@@rockervolt9177 I think even earlier they used some backtracks, as far as I remember. But here it seems so much like those stupid C guitar tones where he hits the string with no sense, (and you hear the backtrack guitar tone), the vocals and chorus .......... for me this is just too much backtracks, .... for a live gig.
“Hey Well, my temperature's rising, and my feet on the floor Crazy people knocking 'cause they're wanting some more Let me in, baby, I don't know what you got But you better take it easy, this place is hot And I'm so glad we made it So glad we made it, you gotta Gimme some loving (gimme, gimme some lovin') Gimme some loving (gimme, gimme some lovin') Gimme some loving every day”
I'm from Texas. Been a fan for over 50 years. It sounds okay, but it ain't the same without Dusty. It's not the real ZZ TOP without him. The magic just ain't there anymore 😢
@@anitamrohs9700 I can absolutely guarantee you, 100%, with no doubt, or any dog in the fight.... It's playback mate... but hey, believe what you want, why do you care what we think... lol
😬 gibbons is “passed it” now, I think. He may be hearing the timing in his head but his old hands are way behind. Plus, where’s that other guitar coming from? Is there someone backstage or is that junk tracked?
In a band with only one guitar you pretty much HAVE to use a backing track to fill out the sound a little bit at times. Billy has also been lipsyncing for a decade now. Not really an issue.
unfortunately it looks like the performance isn't 100% real. the vocals ..... I hope it's the video it sure looks and sounds as if the vocals are not synching ... ugh tapes have taken over.
I like ZZ Top a lot (I saw the Afterburner Tour outside at Legend Valley) but they just look like caricature's of the band after the passing of Dusty Hill and replacing him with WHAT?
Und schön die rolex in die Kamera Jawoll.. wir wollen Handys sehen .ich war bei 🤔 wie heißt die Band ? Ach ja da oben steht es ,zz top ? Komischer Name... nie gehört ..😅
F that. So it's not 1974, so what? There's not a lot years left and even if it's not perfect, it's better than never hearing it again. If people are willing to forgive errors to relieve their youth or for young people to see(whose parents are younger than the band), there's no harm. Let the band enjoy some last hurrahs and fans get what they want. Once the music stops, it eventually becomes forgotten.
I can't help but somehow it all sounds incongruous. The guys play the song but somehow it rumbles and stumbles all over the place. But it could also be the recording.
They should bring in a new guitarist, a keyboardist, make it a five piece and sound better. This is painful. No shame in abandoning the three piece, Dusty is gone anyway.
The vocals seem to be prerecorded. I’m some cases it seems he’s barely moving his mouth which makes it hard to believe he’s really singing what you hear. Lead guitar is definitely live, but there is also a second recorded guitar track too.
I'd like to see bass player sing "Party on the patio" This isn't true ZZ top, and this will only last a year or two more. I get it, but it's just not good
Sorry but just…..argh that was terrible. In fact except for some true vintage footage I’ve seen, on-stage performances by ZZ have suffered for years. The Letterman performance was a sign of things to come.
This is a really horrible performance: Frank Beard is everything but tight and seems to struggle with his part, further the guitars are not played live (partly at least; you can clearly hear two of them). Why is this "band" tourig anymore? - They have achieved everything they could dream of; it's time to retire in dignity IMHO.
