Why the bass is a lot better than most bands Billy gibbons uses a technique that jimi Hendrix taught him when he was 18 to place his thumb on the 5th and 6th strings to give the electric guitar a little more bass tone really helps dusty big time easy to learn give it a try

What a powerhouse bass player The Dust was. And the way he merged bass to lead. While playing bass and rhythm at the same time..... Wow. Wow. I pray Dusty Hill is in Heaven, banging and plucking at the strings of a special made bass guitar by none other than Jesus Christ Himself.
@wdgaminganddisneyhistory6024
@@mountainbikelife2526I would say, almost like the rhythm guitar track of "My Head's in Mississippi" where he does something similar (not the same strings exactly but it does give off that tone as you said)

Dusty had such a solid, melodic voice, and sang backups strong and always perfect harmony. I look at him as a predecessor to guys like Michael Anthony. He paved that ground of a strong, melodic, single harmonizing voice in hard rock setting. Very underestimated as a bassist. His lines were very active and solid, had almost a synth tone it was so consistently played. One of the best rock bottoms ever. In the documentary he comes across as just a solid, down to Earth guy who knew who he was and what he was capable of. Truly a loss.
