Agree! He has always had the massive killer tone, especially live. The flip side of Fandango! with the live medley is incredible. I think he's still using a peso for a pick too.
Just got my tickets for the show here in Denver! Be a real blast if they'd play this one. Or Viva Las Vegas! We've never heard them play that one here, and I've seen them more times than any other band. Lots of 'back catalog' stuff I'd love to hear them do live.
I've always wondered why ZZtop hasnt put out another live album in all these years. Alot of their older songs come off particularly well live...I would love it if they did that.
Im here because i love this album. Definitely their best in my opinion. Interestingly as per my comment on another post of part of this performance, Frank didnt play drums on it. Its UK session drummer Andy Gangadeen.
I bought tickets to go see REO Speedwagon, Def Leppard and Styx, it then got rescheduled on the day ZZtop is performing in Michigan... I'm throughly bummed.
Well, they have released live performances, Fandango and XXX had lots of live tracks on them. Not a Kiss Alive type of live album, but still, live performaces none-the-less :)
Rhythmeen is my #2. Eliminator and Afterbuner are awesome, but they are kinda the pop-stuff. The stuff that could be seen as the musical equivalent of touristy. Deguello is my all time favorite ZZ Top album. But they really are all great, IMHO.
A villiage chief in Cameroon wanted his 10 gal hat but Billy refused to just give it to him. He said "in Texas, we horse trade" and the chief understood right away and sent for this hat to be given to Billy.
@61Slughi When you're as good a guitar player as Billy Gibbons, you can wear whatever the hell you want. Plus it's a tribal thing that the chief gave him in Vienna, I believe... i think it's cool honestly.
I've always wondered; why is it that Dusty, though being the larger of the group, has the higher voice? It doesn't seem right. Whatever. These guys still got it.
Hey Billy, what is up with that that silly, silly cap? I don't think he's left the house without it in the last 10 years. Some kind of mojo thing perhaps, or just going bald?
was it dusty chuckling when they hooooowwled!!! I think tarantino likes zz top. I heard the Tush riff somewhere in kill bill, there's this thing right here for dusk till dawn and rythmeen's on the advert for inglorious basterds...does anyone know what the hell Vincent Price Blues is about!? I know who Vincent Price is but still...what the hell!? anyway I love both songs and rhythmeen was great 5*
Man, you should start listening to REAL R&B if you think you're a fan. Usher and such are as far away from R&B as my backside is from the moon. Not disrespecting his music, it just isn't Rhythm & Blues, Aretha Franklin for example is. Take care and long live ZZ Top.
