Great Australian actor - I have purchased the Matlock Police DVDs from Crawford, really good to see Gerard in that show good childhood memories.. I really like his acting and stage presence he had in prisoner. Thanks for the interview. I have been catching up on these and really good to see Gerard looking and doing well enjoying his life.
Couldn't stand either of their characters Desmond & Bryant. I mean one was from the PRJ and the other running a half way house but when they took over as top dogs all they did is bash and attempted to kill other women inside!! They seemed to instantly forget what they once were, so they had no credibility, in my opinion.
Good video 👍. I was there in 2014 to see the old Prisoner building. I had to go on the Neighbours tour to get in. I wasn't really interested in Neighbours, so i spent my time by the old Prisoner block. I am a big fan of prisoner. I went on the tour twice, just to get in to see the prisoner block. The 2nd time i spent all the tour at the block. Ive got loads of photos of it. I visited the place again, a 3rd time, just going round the whole of the outside. It was evening, and place was closed. Done all that in Dec 2014. I flew from Scotland, thats where i live
To all the cast who appeared in this thank you Lois you was one of my favourites you redeemed yourself when you went with Rita the lovely Glenda lindscott you are a lovely actress
Sorry I’m two years to late to all these interviews, but saying that I was to young to watch Prisoner (Cell Block H) as it’s called in the uk, but I instantly loved it on a re-run in the 90’s. I loved all of prisoner, but I must say when Lexie came into it, then Julie and subsequently Rita, have got to be my favourite times. The energy, the fun the fights, were all just so great. Funnily enough I (we, my partner and I) started watching Prisoner from Mira, a couple of months ago, we’ve just got to the trainee officers. My partner being younger than me, has never seen prisoner, now I’ve the full collection from episode one to the very last episode, which I must say, was not only very sad, as it was the end, but absolutely brilliant that Rita finally got her revenge on the Freak. We are binge watching, every evening. We are both loving it. We’re both big fans of Wentworth, but there’s no comparison, both very, very good, for very different reasons. We love them both. I’m now going to go watch episode two of Pepe Trevor’s interview. Thanks guys , again I now I’m 2 years to late to all this, but I’m loving it, Lexie and Rita were my favourite characters….. oh and Chucky too 😁 xXx
Great to see Nell. Wish she had spoken of her time dancing at the Lido Theatre Restaurant in Melbourne, Nell was Miss Lido. Beautiful shows, the Lido was a great place.
The one The only Prisoner was never the same without queen Bea I’m only 15 episodes after her departure, she left a chasm Miss her so much 😢 Nice to hear her mentioning Collette, unlike the other way round
I did the Australian tour of Gypsy with Nell in 1975-76 and I can see her in my memory as clear as day, arriving and leaving the theatre, dressed like a real star, head high, seemingly 7' tall.. oozing glamour. We got on very, very well and she was one of my go-to people for a chat and coffee. She was a fabulous Tessie Turra. How wonderful to see and hear her here. Thankfully we're still in touch.
She was a great villain, but because she was a strong villain there's no way she and Bea could have been in it together for too long. It's like having 2 star strikers in the same position, just not room for both.
Just going through these. This was a great interview, with someone who clearly, loved the interview as well. As to her exit, not enough love is given to the writers for coming up with this twist. Definitely a great character and I still say Kate hit her with the bin lid, knocked her out cold and put her in the rubbish/trash. Her getting rid of the rubbish comment, was referring to Sandy being rubbish/trash.
Just passed the episode where Bea is shipped off to Barnhurst, never to be seen again The extremely painful 400 😢 Honestly, it’s really not the same without her Absolutely hate it without my Queen Bea Val is an absolute legend, hate to read of the squabbles, fall outs etc among the cast and crew Doesn’t spoil one of the greatest TV shows of all time, it’s just a shame With that said, I know what team I’m on 💯 Love her connection the the UK (where I am) BEEEAAAAAA I MISS YOOUUU (just remember Lizzies reaction, that was me 😂)
Just recently re-watching prisoner (after watching it as a kid in the 80s) & the sandy character/ storyline was brilliant - such a shame to see her exit, for which the series suffered as a result in my opinion.
Respectfully, I would not have recognised him AT ALL BUT Then he speaks!!!! That voice is exactly the same Iconic! Seems to be a lovely human Fletch the letch (who wasn’t even a letch lol) is such an important part of Prisoner Great character
OOP The last stint, in Sydney, she enjoyed the most “Came in, did my job, that’s it” Not, ‘enjoyed my special scenes with Val’ or anything Just “I’m not part of the politics” lol Some heavy tea between those two women! It’s a shame, they were iconic characters and part of the fabric of Prisoner Wonderful how she spoke of Shelia R.I.P Also Betty R.I.P and Caroline Defo no kind words for Val Blimey
I never realised the Ettie character had Alzheimer's. Bless. Loved that character and well written. The actress's performance was underrated. Comedy timing was spot on.
She's correct, some characters are so iconic, their can only be one true person as that character. Many parts you can get away with recasting/reinventing, but some you just can't. Louise Siversen, is Lou Kelly, just like Val Lehman is Bea Smith, end of.
I absolutely loved this interview, ultimately as a fan of prisoner, I loved Eve and it was interesting that the storyline of Eve being the phantom lagger would have been explored further, but it was also good to hear her speak of TYD too. Another great interview.
Just rewatched this interview with Gerard. Wonderful to hear his recollections of Prisoner, beginning of his career and what he is doing now. Beautiful memories of Sheila Florance. Thanks guys.
Her character in Prisoner was so harsh and cruel. She played it so perfectly I would image it took a while to wind her psyche down. Out of all the characters, even Ferguson, her character was just so evil, for a while at least it had to affect her.
