Post-Covid Pandemic: No overnight parking at Walmarts and Home Depots. Avoid Flagstaff, AZ-tow trucks are everywhere. It is against the law to sleep in your van anywhere in this city.
If you're in the South and not in a city (and probably there, too, but I wouldn't know the good spots) where they don't have Park n Rides, there are informal places where people meet and park, and then pool rides, usually for pleasure rather than commuting. For instance, where I live, date nights usually involve driving to another town or to "the City." Even when they pick each other up at home, that means there are extra vehicles in the apartment complex parking lot. In my town, they buzz the strip to see who's out, and then they park near the street in a store parking lot (under the lights) and go off together for several hours. They may be doing nothing more than driving around in the dark ingesting things that are still illegal in Tennessee, but I used to work in an all-night gas station, and there were cars parked out there all night every night of the week.
I can definitely vouch for Hospital parking lots as well as rest areas Walmart Cracker Barrel airports I mean the list is really can long unless you just scared to just try
Thank goodness no thong! I loved Maine. My dog was so used to Lake Superior where I live, with it's amazing fresh water, that he could not get used to the Atlantic. Every time we wend to the beach at the ocean he would pull to go drink the water and look so disappointed.

When I was 10 I jumped across a chasm like that and had to be rescued by the National Guard as I could not get back! Most of the huskies I have known have been hard to train, and not too intelligent, but yours has 'street smarts' or 'rock smarts' for sure. Eyebrow dance - chuckle. Miss you both, hopefully you will come back.
My small city has an ordinance that prohibits on-street parking for more than 24 hours if your vehicle is longer than 17'. I would be willing to bet that most cities copied most of their ordinances from the same source and thus have that ordinance. It is also unlikely to be enforced unless someone complains.
I've never seen this mentioned before, but the few 24 hour laundromats that I've used to do laundry were sketchy, so I would be careful with this one. Worth a try though!
Our dog, also husky, got away and had an encounter with a skunk. Nothing and I mean nothing gets rid of that smell. Even after a year if he got wet, the smell returned. Always have identification on them. Forest Rangers will call you to come retrieve your dog. Huskys are true wandering nomads! lol
Do check if there is security at hospitals. They have upped their security and vehicles are checked. Another RU-vidr talked about getting kicked out of a parking lot. One place that might be available, and it's similar to the park and ride areas, are parking lots at airports. These may not be free but could be used in a pinch. Also, some state fair grounds have overnight parking especially if there is an event going on. Again, there may be a fee.
@marklennox2151 if you're stealth camping, they won't know you're there. The policy is to prevent those people who "camp" in the parking lot from doing so. I've successfully overnighted many times at Planet Fitness and I wasn't even a member. I arrived late, backed in to an out of way spot, covered my windows, and went to sleep. Woke up early, uncovered the windows, and left. No problem.

I travel a lot in my car. Hospitals are a great spot for overnight parking. The emergency rooms are open 24/7 so the restrooms are available and they are used to strangers coming in and out. The parking is usually very secure also.
I’m in so cal I can literally park almost anywhere and never get bothered Gym, grocery stores, mountains, beaches, restaurants, residential etc. but maybe cause it’s really common here.

I had a loaf of bread (store bought Nature Own Hand Crafted Thick slice) in my van in Florida in July for over a week. Sure the van got up to 120F inside the middle of the day. I was surprised it was still soft, did not have any mold or smell. Had a few sandwiches and it was fine.
Stay somewhere for free but pay $50 for breakfast to stay thanks? never understood that line of thinking. I’d rather pay the $20 for an overnight campground and eat from my stocked fridge that I carefully picked out with my nerdy coupon book.
We didn't do it that often and our goal wasn't to never spend money on eating out, so it was a nice treat for us. Anyway, who spends $50 for two people at Denny's?? We usually split something so maybe like $10...
@bbsteve73 it's called common courtesy to buy something when you take advantage of their hospitality. I don't know where you've overnighted where breakfast was $50, but you don't need to buy a full breakfast to reciprocate anyway. Stay within your budget and do whatever you can. I'd rather boondock forever but sometimes you have to go into town. There's no need to be rude when you do.
Idk why it is so illegal and looked down upon to live a free life. If you are paying all of your own experiences and own your own vehicle why is it such a big deal. I legit fell on hard times for a few months and had to live out of my car here in California. It felt so illegal and like I had no where to go while being judged to just try to find a place to sleep at night. I have lived in an apt for almost 4 years now and about to buy a camper to travel and live out of by choice this time. That experience years ago really put freedom into perspective for me and how most people are not really free.
I thought it was funny they felt uncomfortable staying overnight at Denny’s because people knew they lived in their vehicle. If their YT channel grows they will be conspicuous every place they go, even if someone isn’t walking up and saying they recognize them.
