This joke was the that I saw in grainy VHS many many many years ago, which sparked a life long love of Jack Dee and his dead pan humour. My parents as the brilliantly beautiful people they are (and that I can only aim to be half the people they are!) for my 30rh birthday, totally unknown to me got me (and the rest of the family) tickets to see Jack performs live in York where we lived at the time. And he didn't disappoint. The next line of the joke of course after thus edit cuts off is; For her it's a night out, for her carers it's a night off!!! 😂😂😂 Jack, you're a legend mate. Thank you, for being you!

well... if u knew the man and the way he always acts, you’d know it’s because of the known personality of jack dee. he always acts like that. watch some of his live at the apollo’s. if he ever starts laughing himself, it makes the audience laugh harder, and he pretends like it offends him. that’s the way he always is, grumpy.
Ahkando he’s pretty well loved for it. and he is genuinely funny, this was a really old performance. he’s so loved that Britain voted him to win the first Celebrity Big Brother.
His schtick is being grumpy. If you don't like Jack Dee why watch him? lol If you've watched him before, how can you not know this is his schtick? He's deadpan.

I found what Howard Jacobson's viewpoint on this documentary liberating. The fact he was wasn't constrained to dislike certain strands of comedy- for being sexist rascist, homophobic would be an anathema to the kind of liberal politically correct elite- I found that attitude freeing. Not that Im advocating rascist comedy . Yeah I found his viewpoint refreshing
I've done a few standup gigs myself. Written comedy for 25 years. And what I think is, people go for offense (sex religion class race sexuality nationality disease) because theyre not funny and its the EASIEST way to make people laugh. What impresses me is someone who can make me laugh with Clean jokes - because that is the hardest thing to do in standup. No tension/insecurity net, just how smart and funny and original you are. If you can be funny talking about the parallelism of holes in a shopping basket, youre funny. If you can be funny about sex, youre every moron who ever lived.

Same reason they run the banks, the mass media, major companies - theyre the social elite, who employ other Jews in an evil, secretive network. The best standup Ive ever seen is Dylan Moran. Like the rest of us, hes not Jewish. Nor is Bernard Manning, Tony Law, Bill Bailey, Lee Mack, or most decent standups. But the butt-ugly interviewer clearly is. As are most of the bosses at the BBC. Still, if they didnt push their religious fundamentalism in our faces 24/7, we might not hate them. And being hated is the only way they can ever get sympathy. Its pathetic.
