This has been the issue I have had with Ubisoft forever. They had honestly been my favorite AAA dev over EA or Activision because of the creative premises and diverse types of games that they published. But most people's complaints surrounded the monotony and busywork that the games had, or criticised lack of innovation even though most of other devs were pumping out sequel after sequel with the same exact premise. But the majority of the criticism was that Ubisoft was repetitive, not that they were dishonest. And if you keep saying the only problem is one that they share with every other successful game, then Ubisoft is just going to think they don't have a problem.
Why is music licensing for games temporary in the first place? What's the difference between a game and a movie in this context? If they can sell a movie 50 years later with all the music still in it why not games?
Recently platinumed Ghost of Tsushima... And damn, this game really could've been the direction the AC franchise went towards. Familiar mechanics, but at the same time feels unique because it's used as part of the atmosphere and storytelling. Just like the first time i ever played AC2. Really infuriating to think about now that AC is literally just a Witcher 3 copycat, "but bigger!". Ubi really could've done better.
I feel like if you played Mass Effect, skipped Mass Effect 2, and jumped straight into 3 you would not miss much besides the companion content. I really disliked the story of ME2 but definitely enjoyed the companion content.
Maybe they were just trying to replicate the F14T's handling in 2014, that's why the game feels like shit. It understeers and oversteers at the same time
I haven't stopped playing Ubisoft games. I just spread them out more (waiting for big sales each time). However, I've stopped caring. I don't play the next Assassin's Creed. I play the next Ubisoft game that is in X setting. Because, their settings are always good.
ubisoft might not be happy w them often,But i have always loved their openworld builds in their games like ac origins i loved the world and same w odessy...that is what i think is their best side because it isnt stories in the games and what else is it that makes me LOVE a game if not the Story n world i play it in!!
25:20 theres been a similar concept in 2005 that nobody sadly gave a shit about. *hotwheel acceleracers* and while sure its not a videogame, can you imagine how fun that genre of games wouldve been?
So I'm kind of curious, did you ever watch the Monster anime? It's probably my generic stock answer in the off chance if someone asks me what my favorite anime is. I also think Gungrave is far better than those Netflix game adaptations but that is besides the point.
As someone who has dunked on ubisoft from the sidelines like everyone else. Having barely played any of their games. I want to open my mind to playing these games: assassin's creed, far cry, splinter cell, ghost recon, at least the ones people consider good.
Great points throughout, i wish Dirt Rally (1+2) would've been mentioned in there somewhere. Even though everyone nowadays jumps on the "Richard Burns was the ONLY GOOD Rally game" hyetrain, i really do think Dirt Rally is way more polished than other contemporary Racers, even if it's not the same type of racing.
I hated the driving sections but luckily cheats made them bearable... the FPS sections wear absolutely Golden. Eh, eh? I sold my copy years ago, unfortunately needed money. But my roommate had never played it so I just bought a copy today to share this jewel of a game.
Despite the quality of your content, your high horse and ego make me queasier than old soup. The fact that we share the same name, actually makes me wonder why most Lucas' are snobby dickheads.
I'm surprised you mentionned the Charge version of the weapon as the weakest. In my experience, obtaining it and a few good mods for it made every single other weapon redundant and turned my gameplay into "shoot all nukes in my gun, throw all the stuff I can, shoot again...".
Pretty much how I feel. I love Ubisoft games. They suck but I love them. The core game loops scratch that Skinner box itch and I can’t wait to play the next one.
More and more games nowadays have become worse in quality, even more than games from 10-20 years ago. So it’d be nice to just have the old games. Even if it’s only for curiosity’s sake.
I love the original Race Driver: GRID from 2008. Unfortunately, this solid and realistic yet fun game has been forgotten, and now the GRID franchise is recognized as the EA GRID, not the Codemasters GRID.
Far cry 6 just got a new expansion, and they're selling it separately from the season pass. So people who bought the original season pass, just straight up do not get the games expansion. Pretty unreal. Probably is going to become a trend.
Ubisoft is like the CW of video games. They lost their charm for me a long time ago. They have a certain art style and vibe that just is douchy to me. For lack of a better word. Games for CoD players when they get bored of death matches
OMG I had no idea this was landing on GOG. I already own it on Steam, but I love this game to death, because it is just so, so unique, that I purchased another copy on GOG. Thanks for the content!
