That’s not the “tip-off”. That’s a jump ball. “Tip-offs” happen at the start of a game, at mid court. That “jump ball” happened at the free throw line. As a basketball fan, why doesn’t the poster know that??
Years before this game, we used this play often in high school. I had really good hops for a 6' white guard and got a lot of tie ups and jump balls (era before alternate possession rule). Whenever I was matched against a taller guy or one who assumed he could outjump a white guy, we'd call the play. My other guard would break downcourt on the toss and I'd spike it to him for an uncontested layup. We did it three times against the same team one game and they never adjusted... all-black team from the hood and they never adjusted to it. Few years later I ran into a player from that team and he told me they refused to defend the play because they didn't want to acknowledge a white guy could outjump any of them. They'd rather give up the layup. Too funny. My other guard and I learned the play as freshman playing JV at another school before transferring. He was short, chubby, and we found out his nickname playing high school ball had been Cupcakes (sweet tooth), so after transferring that was our play call... cupcakes.
Jordan was an elevator. He elevated everything about the game. He elevated his team mates and elevated above competitors. Non-English speaking Grandmothers all over the world know the name Michael Jordan. That speaks to the impact he has on the game worldwide. Not taking anything from anybody else. But you can't say the same about anybody else.
Larry is Legend and MJ Goat. correct. i guarantee if MJ was just a scorer i would not rate him that. MJ did everything Bird did - some things Larry did better, others MJ did better, but MJ was all over the court on defence.
Man the way he talks about Scottie is true class and talking about how he should get all the recognition is special. Makes me sad as a 90s kid and it’s seriously Such a damn shame pippen has ruined his relationship with Mike. MJ will always be the GOAT! 🐐
