Can anyone help me I am 19 yrs old with no prior experience in electrical trade.I am doing all the possible research and it seems like ibew isn’t accepting applicants at the moment here in NYC does anyone have anything that can help feel stuck…
What’s the whole process like? I just got finished with the PEF. I’m waiting on my email for the aptitude test. I read that a lot of people have been getting rejected because they don’t have atleast 499 hours of construction experience. I thought the apprenticeship is for people with 0 exp
Thanks man the rambling part i really needed to hear. My test is coming up next week and i feel so far from prepared as far as what kind of questions will be on it. 😂 🤞
Thankyou for the advice! I just took my aptitude test yesterday for the IBEW Union 332 in Santa Clara! Im hoping this all works out and I get the interview!
Hey man! Mad Electrician makes great videos on how to get into the apprenticeship. I have my interview in about 2 weeks so if you have any questions on criteria or the test feel free to message me!
@@soc1022 for sure dude! Yeah his channel has been super helpful as well. Good luck on the interview bro! I’ll definitely reach out if I have some questions. Which local, if you don’t mind sharing?
I just did the interview this morning and I was super nervous but turned out well. I did do a lot of research from you and some other RU-vidrs plus purchased some preparation stuff online. I dressed really well, brought portfolios for the 6 people that were there and they all immediately looked through it. The interview was super short around 10 minutes or less. They asked me about 8 questions I believe. They really liked the wood project I attached to my portfolio and someone commented on the quality of the paper lol. It was some expensive paper from fedex. I appreciated that they paid attention to these things and I noticed they all looked surprised when I went to shake everyone’s hands they must not get that much. All in all I did my best and followed all advice I could. I think I did really well and the questions were super simple no behavioral interview questions. I’ll hear back in a week, the chances are very small 9-10 people selected out of 90 but I just gotta hope for the best!
Out of a ranking system low middle and high for the interview I scored in the middle. Haven’t gotten a call I don’t think I will unless they need a lot of people. I heard if you u don’t score in the upper level you basically shouldn’t hold your breath. I just don’t know what I could’ve done better maybe they could’ve also based it off work experience and other stuff in the end.
Hey i know this is old but i had my interview today and it seemed like it went very good but it only lasted about 6 minutes , but after every question they told me “ that’s a great answer”. So now I’m wondering if a shorter interview is a bad thing or not with the ibew
I'm looking to apply for the IBEW Apprenticeship here in Illinois but, I'm 51 years old. I'm thinking that I'm too old. Any older Apprentices in your local?? I would like your advice on the subject. Hope all is going well in your journey!
Probably a very dumb question. But just want some clarification, When they asked about a previous time you worked in bad working conditions, is that meaning environmental?
@@RainToday1 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5dlkQH7duzc.htmlsi=HWdql5dmFzME0nBt this video has everything that’s on the test I took it like two days ago and passed because of this video
As a 18 year old who will be graduating high school shortly, is this an option for me or do I have any “prerequisites” before I can apply for this process (schooling, other job, etc)
For the questions are u afraid of heights, are u comfortable using tools, and do u have any electrical experience are those yes or no questions or do i have to elaborate on them
Great video thanks for the help. I just got my rank from 191 wondering if you know or if anyone else knows how big the class sizes typically are for boot camp
@@SparkysJourney unfortunately not. Something I have been curious about. What does the physical examination include. I have some back problems, scoliosis. I don't know if I'd pass. I'd like to hear a little about that.
@@JimStanfield-zo2pz if you get the chance to interview again, I would highly recommend getting some on the job experience before interviewing. Entry level jobs such as stockman/material handler. Physical is very straightforward. If you’ve ever had a physical in your life, it’s probably the exact same. They check your hearing, your vision, reflexes and so on. I don’t remember them checking my back, but if you have scoliosis, I’m sure they might have a different set of questions they will ask. Also, every local does things a tiny bit different so your experience mike vary. Hope this helps!
@@SparkysJourney thanks. I'm getting a little old now. I'm 35. I actually don't know if I can handle the work anymore. But I've thought about applying again. I first applied at 22 and then at 30. I might try it again. How physically demanding is it. You have to dig a lot of holes? And what is the weight you carry around typically. Sometimes I see electricians with a lot of tools in their belt, how heavy is that? I just might not be cut out for it. I was on the list of qualified applicants both times I applied but fell off after 2 years. I should have interviewed again. My interview score was just too low both times. I scored 9 out of 9 on the aptitude exam, but in the end I think I was in the hundreds on the list. Oh well, good luck. I know it's a great job if you can handle the physical work
