Materials needed for repair: (not including tools) Strainer basket, plumbers putty, PVC direct dishwasher connection waste (comes in larger or smaller hose connection depending on dishwasher hose size), End waste 08:13 (tbh don’t know what that is😮). Hope this helps with our Home-depot runs.
I found that one can't leave the retainer's two legs hanging out like that. In your video you show the paper clip's legs hanging out of the cartridge housing. When I did that, I found that I couldn't get the outer metal sleeve back all the way, unless of course, you snipped off the two legs of the paper clip and then installed the metal housing. Sorry, minor detail :-) But awesome overall video Sir.
This explanation of how it works is good. AND knowing the place where the fill-height is and overflow goes was VERY helpful. HOWEVER, Korky has its own, not very extensive page about their similar style valve that shows how to take it apart. And clean it. There's a strainer "straw" within the innards of the valve, after removing the float and fill valve, you pull up on the part beneath and a black tube comes out, at the bottom is a strainer, a white/translucent plastic part. When I pulled that out debris came out. The Korky video also shows instructions on how to clean the diaphram and another part (pink/red rubber) with warm water. After doing that, I replaced all the parts and no more runon toilet. People, look for the Korky Toilet Repair RU-vid page, and there's a video called Korky Quietfill Toilet Fill Valve Maintenance. That shows exactly how to remove and replace ALL the parts that might be causing your valve to continue to fill. The fill-height and overflow area was NOT covered in the Korky video.
I take a black felt marker and blacken the white line wire coming into the disconnect to make sure there is no assumptions / confusion by others. Taking the time to do this small task, it could save a life.
I'm a handyman, and i rarely have to change these out and replumb. So I greatly appreciate the quick refresher course! Very well done tutorial that will undoubtedly save people money!
Wonderful instruction Tim! My issue is an intersection from the washer under my mobile home. I'm thinking I can get it done with using a Fernco rubber sleeve. Just slide it on then connect the broken pipe and tighten the hose clamps. Cover me, I'm goin in! I'm grateful that I've got more room under there than you had. Thank you for this. If I'm successful, I'll have saved around $500.
Been to a few Asian Restaurants few back ups before. I had this same exact experience. I’m literally running my sewer machine in the kitchen under the 3-comp. Sink and they’re still in there cooking!!!🤢 Nasty sewer water all over the floor and everything!
Tomic connector... Not adaptor. And that Romex should be in Greenfield, Flexible metal conduit so its protected. And always twist your wires together before you put your wirenut on. And always make sure the insulation on your feed wire is in past the pinch point of your tomic connector before tightening
Outstanding video...! I was looking at my main valve and noticed it was all coroded and not able to turn. Cheapest plumber quote was $200 W/O parts!!!! I've soldered many times before but was a bit hesitant to tackle the main... Not any more! The key was the 'slip joint' installation. No plumbing action that is completed in less than an hour (portal - portal) should cost $200!!!
Hello good morning, I watch your videos. Can you help me? I have a 1.6 hp pump for irrigation, but it works for a while, 2 months or less, and the pump works, but the pressure stops working at 20/40 psi. I have already bought 3 pumps. I don't know what it could be. Thank you. If you can give me a tip, I will be grateful.
So i use my shower almost daily, yet i ran into the same problem. I do have hard water where I live. Would you say the hard water is causing my cartridge to fail or would you say it is something else. I am tired of replacing it every few months.
Excellent video, Tim. You provided information that was detailed, complete, and streamlined. It was a pleasure to watch a professional work, without having to put up with dead minutes of gabby repetitiveness, or irrelevant in-your-face entertainment by wannabe RU-vid personalities. Thank you.
Hey Tim. I just installed o e of the delta mixer and the water doesn't come out but if I remove the cartridge with the water running and install it with the water running it stays on and can't be turned off. The line isn't pressured And there's no hot water connected on the line either
Guys saying it “doesn’t pass code” but they don’t quote the code. These are the guys who trap drains before dumping into an indirect waste (like a floor sink or hub drain) which…. Oh yeah, is also trapped!
Many thanks for the very informative and detailed video tutorial. I also liked the cool video technique with the shots from inside the tank and another angle from the floor as you left the toilet room at the end.
